addclaim/core by area and region - Status?

I can remember putting in a suggestion for the ability to add claims and cores by area and regions a long time ago. I think there was a response that its being worked on or considered, is there a status on this? It would save so much time on the coding front in Europe and Asia.

Target versions often change, so don't be shocked if it is pushed back to 1.05
