Highly agree, although it would be interesting to also have arrogant and deceptive characters outright refuse or immediately go back on their word after release, making them a criminal.
Going back on their word after their release would be problematic at best, since any renunciation of claims would have to be be public to be effective.

I understand that but I can't help but think about so many medieval examples where just this happened.

Didn't Guy lusignan go back on his word to stop fighting muslims like immediately after being freed?

I can understand the frustration as a player though so maybe you're right.

I can understand the frustration as a player though so maybe you're right.
There is a big difference between changing your own mind and actions after being released versus convincing the minds of the public that heard you renounce your claims.

Not only that, how would a religious head look upon a person that tried to press a claim under these circumstances?
