I only just now realized that I can get 5 piety for every unimportant courtier whose amateur scheming falls into my much wider web.

Text should be added to the "Release prisoner" description informing players of this effect, and the piety gain for releasing a same-religion prisoner should scale based on their title rank, just as ransom scales.
Edit: Also, remove the piety gain for releasing excommunicated prisoners. Not only would this be concurrent with the no piety gain for releasing other-religion prisoners, but in practice, you have infinite license to imprison -> release -> imprison -> release the excommunicated, which is mostly done to stick-poke them into rebellion so that their titles can be revoked for treason by the massive armies conveniently picking their nails at their borders. If you still get piety for releasing the excommunicated, you can probably gain net piety by excommunicating a low intrigue courtier, and then spamming them with the feudal predecessor to the revolving door prison system.
