I think there should be a law that requires the ruler to sanction marriages for his family and even vassals. Sometimes your landed heir is a complete moron and starts making alliances with your grandkids with the worst possible choices. I think if the AI is not going to be so smart then the player should be able to influence these decisions. Paradox should also make AI marriage make more sense. It is not enough to get alliances with large troop counts. The location of your allies and their political situation is the most important thing. One thing the AI could check is their troop size vs the troop sizes of claimants or even checking the opinion of their vassals. If all their vassals hate them and the kingdom is unstable then all this should go into how the AI decides to make marriages. I always restrict dplomatic range to make sure the AI doesn't make idiotic decisions but they will still make ridiculous alliances and while they are half way across the world they get attacked and they lose. The one thing that sucks about this game is how stupid the AI is. Wish they would focus on the AI. Even sell it to us in the paradox style. We would buy it. Also what good is an ally who is across the globe when all your enemies are on your borders and could sige you down before your ally even gets half way there? These alliances need to have more logic coded into them.

You can negotiate marriages for your grandchildren. You can't directly use the "find spouse" interaction, but you can offer them in marriage to another character.

not if their father is landed and away from your court, then you have zero control in who they marry unless you have the person you want them to marry or get betrothed to in your court.

I mean when your grandchild is landed, you can arrange a marriage for him as long he is a direct vassal from you.
well yeah but the point is you should be able to sanction marriages for your vassals (non family) and family (regardless if landed), if they ignore you maybe they become a criminal or get an opinion penalty

In the real Middle Ages, the Ruler did indeed have that power. also, in the Game, how many of us have seen sixteen year old Rulers married to sixty year old women. It happens often enough to be a thing...
