How exactly was Governing Ethic Attraction having no effect? Was it circumstantial? Was only negatives applying? only positives? If anyone could elaborate I would be grateful!
it just didnt work like it should bringing more pops into your ethics, like chaninging them from militan to pacifistic. now if your leader is pacifistic more pops can change their faction, and suppressing a faction actually works now, pops leaving them going into one that has more influence.

As someone who only plays singleplayer and couldn't launch the game on 1.7.2 without my CPU freaking out, I'm super happy about this.

Game is running fine on 1.6.2, so something in the new multiplayer backend doesn't play well with my Linux system.

1.7.2 wasn't too bad. I actually noticed improvement. I heard about the game not being able to launch, but I never encountered it. Hosted a game just fine and added mods without difficulty. What happened?

I got the 1.7.x pushed. Since my previous galaxy was completely occupied by me, I immediately started a new game - using the new "shrimps" insectoids.
Today my game is "magically" downpatched to 1.6.2... and the shrimps are gone! In the started game there are no portraits visible for my guys anymore.

Can I do anything regarding this? I already love my shrimps, they just started to rule the universe!

You can opt into the 1.7.2 beta on steam to keep playing 1.7.2.

Worked better for me both on the work Ubuntu and my home Slackware than the steam one, kinda interested in what issues you encountered so either pmsg me or (even better) join the GNU/Linux group here at the forum and post your issue O;)

They seem to be doing it more or less right to my mind. A lot better than some of them. I admit saying there wasn't going to be anymore debacles after the last debacle was going a little too far. It's software. It's always being pushed out the door too early. Want to help fix the problem instead of burning time and energy pointing out the obvious? If you know Jack spit about modding and gaming then jump into the beta and help them pick the thing apart. It's rather obvious that they didn't have enough people testing the thing and providing feedback.

Umm... wait how exactly are we on 1.6.2 when we just had the 1.7 release? Shouldn't a rollback be 1.7.1 instead?
1.7.1 was even more broken, so no. 1.6.2 is pretty much 1.7.2 without all the broken multiplayer stuff.

So you don't have the issue in 1.7.2 with the launcher using 100% CPU, and ingame using much more CPU than earlier versions? This bug was introduced in 1.7 but was supposed to be fixed in 1.7.2, but all Linux users I've seen so far (which is me and Alpha2378...) still has that issue. Would be interesting to know if there are actually Linux-users not affected by that bug.
