Oh puhlease. If anything, I wished there was more willingness to do this by every studio. Props are due for admitting screw ups and now a clear willingness to correct them. This change is what I've been yelling for.

Who cares? Paradox as a whole has destroyed their game.

No they haven't.

If the only difference is the multiplayer layer, mods should work equally fine on 1.6.2 and 1.7.2.

The red exclamation mark is more of a friendly warning than an ironclad rule. It just checks to see what version the mod says it's compatible with. If the mod alters something that an update hasn't touched, nine times out of ten you can enable it with no problems even though it's flagged as incompatible.

They'll be fine with 1.6.2 had. Copy and paste AlphaMod's current notification. This was the right call and it doesn't need to be a big deal for mods.

Why are you still here and on the forums then?

Same. Quite honestly, we're giving them props for actually being real about their issues rather than corporate speaking it away.

They definitely deserve props for owning the screw-up and taking prompt action to fix it.

That said, it would be nice if we could go one patch without them having to do that.

Hi all,

The warning you get about potentially incompatible mods is literally just comparing the mod's version number to the game version. In this case 1.6.2 is exactly the same as 1.7.2 except for MP stuff which no mod should touch. As such it's almost certain that 1.6.x mods will work in 1.7.2 and vice versa. No need to panic.

A major version change USUALLY affects mods but this is an exceptional case. As always, we walk a fine line between supporting our modding community (who are awesome), and pushing updates and content at a reasonable pace. Breaking your mods is never our goal, but we do have to keep the game up to date.

Incredible.

If you read the notification in the 1.7.2 thread, the no-launch bug didn't show up in house, (and thus it *was* tested to their best ability, but the fault is caused by a combination of factors they don't have) and didn't replicate even when reported.

It didn't leave error messages, or report back to Paradox as it would be expected to.

It *did* show up in the beta, but didn't give enough information to track down the cause... which they apparently managed to get either last night or early this morning.

Now, how do you test for a bug you can't replicate or trigger in house, and that doesn't give any error messages that can be fed back by testers or players?

Who cares? Paradox as a whole has destroyed their game.

Really? It works fine for (apparently) most people.
Even with the crash bug (which remember is apparently silent...), *there was still a working version with the other bug fixes available*. It's the 1.6.2 version that they've now made the "live" version of the game.

That's on them man. How people playing Pdox games haven't figured out how to ignore, or set the version in the mod file on their own end is beyond me.

I could update the mod in two clicks and it would be OK, BUT if you do not only English description in the steam, updating the mod turns into torture.

1. Need to change by notebook everywhere on version 1.6.*
2. Then go to Steam, make the same name of the mod in all languages, so that the launcher can sees it.
3. Then go to the English description in the steam, because the launcher at the end replaces the English description with the Russian. And press save after loading.
4. And God forbid if something there will not save, because in this way, I will kill the English description.
5. And need to return the Russian name.

And this bug haunts me from the release.
And I wrote to you twice a detailed bug report with screenshots.
And updating any mod for your wonderful game is still torture for me.

How exactly was Governing Ethic Attraction having no effect? Was it circumstantial? Was only negatives applying? only positives? If anyone could elaborate I would be grateful!

Ignore them. Delete their comments. It's what I'm doing and will continue to do.
