Hi all,

Here we go with version 1.6.2. This is the latest stable version including the most up-to-date gameplay fixes.

- Fixed starvation having no effect on happiness and growth
- Fixed drain Sector resources function not working with <200 Influence
- Stopped AI from nonsensically terraforming its planets and wasting a ton of resources
- Fixed Xenophile Factions wrongly considering robots to be "alien slaves"
- Fixed pre-sentients wrongly counting as slaves for the Xenoist faction
- Fixed Governing Ethics Attraction having no effect
- Fixed Devouring Swarms being able to conduct diplomacy with Enclaves
- Fixed issue preventing you from attacking the Unbidden Portal despite destroying the Anchors first
- Fixed rare crash when a threat was added
- Fixed crash when starting terraforming
- Fixed crash in swarm AI fleet update
- Fixed crash in swarm AI when a planet was destroyed
- Fixed crash when starting the game with mods that disable a tech module
- Increased society research gained by consuming Pops as a Devouring Swarm
- Stopped an exploit against the Scourge with resettling Pops to occupied worlds
- Fixed sector AI automatically deleting Slave Processing Facilities if they had less than 5 slaves
- Fixed missing terraform option for cold barren planets
- Retaking a planet from the Scourge now properly stops purging of Pops
- Fixed terraforming of inhabited planets causing tile resources to be reshuffled, because Betharian is pretty rad, but shouldn't be able to teleport
- Fixed some missing localizations
- Fixed Android defense armies wrongly being able to embark and invade planets
- Subjects will now always accept being gifted planets by their overlord
- Fixed incorrect city images for primitive civilizations

We've put 1.7.2, our multiplayer overhaul build, back in to beta to iron out remaining issues. If you want to help us out with testing it, you can opt in for that, and you also have to ability to roll back to prior versions.

Instructions on how to play on other versions here.

Hi all,

The warning you get about potentially incompatible mods is literally just comparing the mod's version number to the game version. In this case 1.6.2 is exactly the same as 1.7.2 except for MP stuff which no mod should touch. As such it's almost certain that 1.6.x mods will work in 1.7.2 and vice versa. No need to panic.

A major version change USUALLY affects mods but this is an exceptional case. As always, we walk a fine line between supporting our modding community (who are awesome), and pushing updates and content at a reasonable pace. Breaking your mods is never our goal, but we do have to keep the game up to date.

I got the 1.7.x pushed. Since my previous galaxy was completely occupied by me, I immediately started a new game - using the new "shrimps" insectoids.
Today my game is "magically" downpatched to 1.6.2... and the shrimps are gone! In the started game there are no portraits visible for my guys anymore.

Can I do anything regarding this? I already love my shrimps, they just started to rule the universe!

You can opt into the 1.7.2 beta on steam to keep playing 1.7.2.

As someone who only plays singleplayer and couldn't launch the game on 1.7.2 without my CPU freaking out, I'm super happy about this.

Game is running fine on 1.6.2, so something in the new multiplayer backend doesn't play well with my Linux system.
Worked better for me both on the work Ubuntu and my home Slackware than the steam one, kinda interested in what issues you encountered so either pmsg me or (even better) join the GNU/Linux group here at the forum and post your issue O;)

So you don't have the issue in 1.7.2 with the launcher using 100% CPU, and ingame using much more CPU than earlier versions? This bug was introduced in 1.7 but was supposed to be fixed in 1.7.2, but all Linux users I've seen so far (which is me and Alpha2378...) still has that issue.
Yes i have, 100% of a single virtual core... Not sure why but that is indeed interesting. Not any real issue for me at least.
Would be interesting to know if there are actually Linux-users not affected by that bug.
Otherwise the game runs faster and smoother IMO and since the game it self has not been optimized i just presume that it has reduced a lot of sleeping/waiting, but if you have the time just do a perf record and send me the data O;)

Edit: same to you, lets continue this in either GNU/Linux or in a pmsg so we do not spam this thread

While this may be true they did have feedback in the beta thread about these issues. They released 1.7.2 knowing there were people who could not play multiplayer and others who could not launch the game at all with the 1.7.2 beta version.

As you can see, they knew these issues existed. It's only been a little over a month since 1.6.0 and Jamor having to apologize for the state it was release, is this something we should expect for every patch now?
Nothing has changed (been at PDS for 5 years now), we have screwed up a lot before repeatedly... we clean it up as fast we can and you guys forget about it, we still try to not screw up and make the best product we can ofc

It's not the screw up that's bad, it's the consistency.
Yeah, we all agree with that and everyone in the dev team feels awefull about it, I just cannot let jamie take the blame for this one

Maybe they'll abandon the whole MP thing now.
I hope not, the things we could do with this might be awesome tbh

I think you're missing the huge elephant in the room. What most people are upset with is that PDS consciously and routinely releases DLC that is overpriced. This might be 'ok' for most, if the quality of the game is there, but when you release games like Stellaris and HOI4, that require major system overhauls in order to be fun or playable, it gets to be a very touchy subject. When you throw into the mix patches that are released which were suppose to address quality concerns only and instead screw everything up, well... people get frustrated and lash out, rightly so.

I am a new-comer to Paradox games. Stellaris is my first purchase, and while I love the game, even I am becoming jaded or finding it tough to defend PDS when my glasses should be rose tinted. I do think it takes guts to take responsibility for these issues, but it's obvious PDS has some issues to resolve internally with their QA infrastructure.

In closing, for a lot of people, this is strike two. Lets not see what strike three brings, ok? Lets get this fixed... regardless of who is at fault or who wants to fall on the sword.

Pricing you have to understand that we in the dev team never controls, not sales etc.
QA is actually working very nice, the issues they where to check in their smoke test for 1.6 worked so that is up to us in the dev team to make sure that it does not happens again.

I don't actually have a problem with using a Paradox account or a non-steam based MP backend. With Paradox's record I'd just be happier if the MP backend wasn't something they are responsible for. The only real problem with the new MP backend is that it's something Paradox is making themselves. It's causing problems right now, and even if they eventually get it working, I foresee it causing more problems in the future.
I agree and i understand, but it is not like that other backends have not given us any problems, the difference is that this is our backend and we can most likely address the issue faster than we could do by 3party software O;)

I'd rather it take slightly longer to address issues that rarely pop up than having quick fixes to constant problems.
IMO yes, but i am just simple programmer... This is on me and us in the team, i am not trying to lay the blame on any other person, but blame this issue on jamie is not fair

You have to understand that as a product release, its judged as a whole, not separate. It's wholly unprofessional for someone of the PDS team to claim the reason people are upset with Stellaris isn't valid because they're mad at the price of DLC which is not a dev related issue.
this thread is named "
Adams update (1.6.2) released [checksum d7ec]"
that does not have anything with the pricing, in that case you probably should create a new thread.
Secondly, QA is not working nice. The 1.6 update had flaws and now 1.7.x. Stop telling us a different version when reality is clear.
Did you actually read what i said? QA follows a list as they do at any company, if we fail to update that list it is not QA:s fault?

I think everybody needs to relax a little bit and enjoy the lovely game...
Yeah, that is a good advice O;)
I'll restate my problem from the last thread, as the rollback hasn't fixed it:

Enormously frustrating. Just like the last big patch release i've lost access to all my DLC in the launcher. Verifying the integrity of the game files doesn't fix it. Rolling back to 1.6.2 doesn't fix it. Rebooting my machine doesn't fix it. Last time this happened I wasn't able to play for days, and i'd just bought the game.

I've gone so far as to reinstall the game now. Doesn't fix it. Am I really the only one experiencing this problem?
