I don't think these bugs went past QA. But finding bugs and fixing them are different things. Plus you also need to test if your "fix" doesn't break something else. It's likely that 1.6.1 was already being worked on when 1.6 wasn't even released.

* Added back a couple of old diplomacy rooms and fixed black background on older ones

This is an awesome update, but for this specifically, thank you. I'd understand it if you never bothered fixing the black backgrounds since it only affected 1.5 converted saves, but now I get to continue my AAR without my leaders having always turned off the damn light. :)

Also some of the old backgrounds were pretty good, no reason to let them go to waste, I suppose.

I found this weird bug. I researched Cruisers but I couldn't build them. I was able to upgrade my spaceports to level V, but cruisers wouldn't show at buildable ships or at the ship designer. Only when I ticked the "Auto-generate designs" box at the ship designer the cruisers showed up and started to work. Am I the only one having this issue?

One new bug in the 1.6 series, not resolved with 1.6.1 beta.

- Fleets set to evasive (science vessels, corvette scout fleets) will cancel orders after they encounter a hostile fleet/critter and manage to retreat to the previous system. Which is very annoying behavior. It wasn't even a long trip (hyperlane-only game) to continue on to the next available system.

Playing 1.6.1 beta patch, draining sector resources doesn't seem to work. You're paying 100 influence, but you're not getting any resources from sector stockpile and they're not deducted from stockpile.

Upd: I'm playing with save from 1.5

@Jamor
The 1.6 patch had a lot of changes. Knowing how complex your software system is, you might want to consider releasing smaller patches more frequently.
This is not always doable, but in this case it might have.
Release a smaller batch of fixes, call it a public beta so people know not to complain because it's not final, gather reports, fix, rinse and repeat.
This until you have a final official version to release.
When I saw the list of changes, I literally though: "uh oh..., here we go, so many changes..."

I also hope you get the time to look into the way patches are made, released and dealt with after reports get in.
Furthermore, a lot of people responded negatively, but that's because they are passionate about the game.
Yes, IT is hard but you have a community willing to help and report bugs. This is actually an opportunity for Paradox
to change the way updates are rolled out. PDX would benefit from using this potential.

I just wanted to check in if anyone has had the same experience. I let an AI game run through the night and when i checked the aits afterward in 2440, i noticed that every single one of them was terraforming planets left and right and I could not detect an obvious reason - sometimes they changed to continental when the species was tropical (i.e. hindering itself) and sometimes they managed to shift to the right climate. Has anyone had the same experience so far in 1.6.1?

I started a game with the 1.61 beta and I am not sure whether it is a bug and reproducible, so please comment if anyone experiences a similar thing:

I am playing as egalitarian, materialistic, xenophile empire. I had the first faction (xenophile) form and it was fine. About a year later, I got the notification that the materialistic faction has formed. However, it does not show up in the factions screen, even after waiting for the next monthly tick. I am playing ironman, so I cannot revert to the point before it had formed. I can attach my save-file later tonight if anyone runs into similar problems.

I've just opted into 1.6.1_beta. Looking forward to trying it this weekend.

What happens when the full release patch is issued. Will the game automatically roll forward to the new version or do I need to explicitly opt-out of the beta in Steam?

Apologies if this has already been covered somewhere.
