This calls for a multi-player AAR next! ;)

Will be eagerly reading your updates Emu!

A succession galaxy perhaps :)

Not necessary. The game is turn-based and allows for one all-powerful password protected master to oversee. So it should be feasible to allow for a number of different Earth-bound nations to exist, each controlled by a different player, and we'd simply exchange the save file every turn amongst the players.

Edit: Let's take such discussion to the general Aurora thread though, so we don't muck up Blue Emu's AAR. :)

Do you have any tip for a newbie? I might start to play this game.

I would like to be Shipified! :p

I can certainly name a spaceship after you... although probably without the double-dots. I'll see if it's possible to rename a Leader after you.

I have designed a Fighter... but I might tweak the design a bit more as I work on the Carrier. It's not particularly fast, nor particularly stealthy, nor particularly long-ranged... what it is is particularly heavily-armed. It's got the same opening-shot salvo as a friggin' Destroyer! If I can get a swarm of these things within 14 million kilometers or so of an enemy fleet, he will be in for a lot of grief.

... now let's see how many of these puppies will fit in a standard Hangar Bay...

And I request a solar system (or planet or at least colony) :)

Much appreciated, you're free to do as you see fit. I am content to be named/command any ship which has at least some armament... to show any uppity aliens the might of ze human race!

I would like to request being something-ified. So long as its not as a Tug. Because it could lead to embarrasing situations with other paradoxian ships where I'm tugging Arjyla. :D

We should settle which class of ships will be the "Paradox" class, with individual ships named after Forum members.

I will initially be building Geo-Survey ships to search for resources (traditionally named after Geologists and Explorers), Grav-Survey ships to search for Jump-points to neighboring stars (traditionally named after Astronomers and Physicists), Destroyers, Light Cruisers, Fighters and Escort Carriers.

Naturally, each Forum member can claim whichever type of ship he is fond of. I probably won't be building more than a few of each during the first couple of game-years.

EDIT: good news... it is indeed possible to rename Leaders. Including the Planetary Governor!

I like small and agile things, so fighter-class would be most suitable for me. And if you for some reason don't want this, than light cruiser type would be second-best option.

That would be excellent! :D
Also, I vote for the most badass ship class to be the Paradox. Not too big but armed to the teeth, or armed WITH teeth, and fast as f*ck.

OK... I have a tentative design for an Escort Carrier. It's quite unsatisfactory, but the biggest Military shipyard slip that we have available at game-start is 12000 tons, and it simply isn't possible to design a GOOD Escort Carrier on such a limited displacement. I'll design a better second-generation CVE after expanding the shipyards.

This ship has its flaws... it's rather slow, prone to breakdown, weakly armed and has rather poor sensors for a Carrier. On the plus side, it can carry FIVE of those nasty Fighters, giving it the firepower of a whole fleet of Destroyers. A group of three of these CVEs should be able to simply SHRED a much larger enemy fleet... as long as they get surprise. It can also service them in the field, carrying five Missile reloads per Fighter. Since the Fighters themselves can load onto the Carrier already armed, that gives the Task Force the ability to launch six full-up strikes before it has to head home for more ammo. I seriously doubt that the Fighters themselves will last that long. The Carrier also has three rapid-fire Point Defense Anti-Missile Missile Launchers with 67 rounds of ammo (70 counting the "chambered" round), which can fire twice per minute each, opening up at about two million kilometers. These Anti-Missile Missiles are FAST little buggers... they move about 12000 km per second.
