Yet another useful free tech from El Dorado... Construction Rate 30. Just in time for us to start building Orbital Habitats.

EDIT:

A scientific team on Earth led by Elise Mueller has completed research on Grav Sensor Strength 36. This is a landmark achievement, since it represents the first time that we have achieved parity with the Prix in any technology... our disassembly and analysis of destroyed Prix warships indicated that their sensors used exactly this technology.

<personal log, Dr. Michael Pal, date unknown>
Well, maybe I really am developing a drinking habit... So what? If life provides you with nothing but lemons, you better learn how to make caipirinha. Also, what else should I do? Research? For what? Every time I'm approaching a breakthrough, the news of a "breath-taking discovery on El Dorado" are flooding the holonets. I hate those damned Prix. If they weren't extinct yet, I'd happily lend a hand...

Müller. I cannot stand hearing her name in the news anymore. If she is so great a scientist, then why is the top search result for her name in the holonet a holograph of her dancing half-naked on a lantern in Geneva? Hehe.

Now let's see why this Charlie Alcoholic Synthopop is such a hype...

Scientist Bo Mosberg has finished researching Tokomak Fusion Reactor technology, opening the way for a research project to give us even more powerful engines for our ships and missiles.

Hooray! Fusion! Now we know when scientists will finally get that working. Although it's just occurred to me that up until now we've been researching technology that we already had in RL in this field. Nuclear warheads as well. It seems like the current anti-nuclear technology kick took a real toll over the next few years.

I haven't even got this far in the tech tree. I assume from now on there are some more sci-fi techs in these fields? Anti-matter bombs and zero-point energy?

I hereby move that Napoleon Come-Late-To-The-Party here be given a decoy missile to ride... Then if he survives he can move up... to an asteroid miner... Har, har, har! Let him earn his space legs!

Hope you don't mind some hazing by the old salts. :)

Well, as our first battle with the Prix showed: I will be far safer in my decoy vessel than those in the warships.

The prix battle gave El Emuator access to a planet in that system we christened El Dorado. It contained 1742 intact deserted alien cities, with vaults containing so much loot, scientific goodies and alien killer robots hauling all the equipment away (to prevent the robots from damaging it) strained the cargo fleet well beyond it's maximum capacity. Not to mention causing the infantry to have a field day :p

Not 1742 cities. Several intact deserted cities, TL-5 I think, with a grand total of 1742 installations spread over the planet.

Wow, I havn`t been here for a long time (since the Prix-battle). What did happen in the meantime?

As the other dudes said, that nasty Prix fleet was guarding the jackpot... 1,747 TL-4 xeno-archeological sites, which have yielded at least a couple of dozen free techs, about forty research labs, nearly as many terraforming and genetic modification stations, tens of thousands of infrastructure, tens of millions of litres of fuel, hundreds of thousands of minerals, hundreds of mines, automated mines, construction factories, missile factoiries, fighter factories, fuel refineries, deep space tracking stations, ship maintenance depots, ship components, etc, etc... our sixty or so cargo ships can just barely haul it away as fast as we dig it up, even though they're just carting it over to the next system and dumping it on the nearest planet.

We've also established a mining colony that is now producing about a quarter of a million minerals per year, of all eleven trans-newtonian ores; and five of our planets (Earth, Mars, Dravar XV, Remagen, Tropico) are now class-0, with no population cap.

The latest free advances in construction tech (bringing us up over 300% efficiency) have greatly increased the rate at which we spend money on construction... and we are once again in a downward financial spiral, losing up to 150 bucks per day. Fortunately, we have more than 300,000 bucks in the bank, so we have years to straighten this problem out before it actually becomes acute. Still... the shaky economy needs to be addressed again, as one of our top priorities. I've got a hundred new Financial Centers queued up on Earth, and some on Mars as well.

Scientist Pal is now receiving maximum funding... he has fifteen of our ninty-two labs under his command, the maximum number that his Admin rating allows. He is working on improving our ship construction rate.

Another free tech has been discovered in an abandoned Genetic Modification Center on El Dorado, allowing us to breed a race of mutants who can withstand a wider range of temperatures.

Our Tugs Hercules and Nine Lives have finally finished positioning the Venue class Orbital Habitat in orbit around the eighteenth moon, Brigit (Ross 248 A-V-18) of the Gas Giant Odin (Ross 248 A-V), in the neighbouring Ross 248 system. The hab required about 120 days to drag into place, one system over from Earth. Fortunately, we are already tooling up the dockyards for a new model of faster and more powerful Tugs. They will be needed.

Well... if they have Fighters or FAC, we won't really be ready for them until the Star-IIIs come out.

The first load of colonists has set off for the new Venue Orbital Habitat circling Brigit in the Ross 248 system.

Our Venue class Orbital Habitat circling Brigit in the Ross 248 system has received its first 50,000 immigrants, and is now functioning as a Colony.

... that was a lot trickier than I expected it would be. Our brain-dead Colony Ship captain unloaded the 50,000 colonists on the airless moon instead of at the Orbital Habitat, and they nearly asphixiated before I could figure out how to fix it. I had to order the Hab to "Move To" the moon... even though it was already there, in orbit, and had no engines to "Move" with... and then the colonists automatically boarded the Hab and started breathing again.

EDIT:

We now have an unbroken chain of colonies stretching from Dravar XV - Earth/Mars - Brigit - The Nexus - Draco, and we will be extending it at both ends until all of our colonies are linked up into a continuous empire.
