I mean, if you're already a godlike psionic race with super advanced ships and megastructures... shouldn't you be able to do something with Shrouded worlds?

Maybe an occasional special project to make one habitable, like with barren planets? Make a deal with a Shroud god to remove the purple mist and make it habitable? Or a special event of some kind that permanently turns your species into beings stuck between dimensions, and only able to live in Shrouded worlds?

I don't know. I think the idea is really cool. Maybe to everyone else, it will sound like codswallop. Thought I'd put it out there.

Yeah, I'd also like it to be possible (albeit rare) for you to get the psionic theory tech option, by an anomaly. Surely, if you find a world like that, you would want to get to the bottom of it, and in the process, possibly become psionic.

1. Echoes of the Deep anomaly if researched by a Paranoid Sci
2. Hell Dark Portal if you are spiritualist (bugged, but extant)
3. Living Sea anomaly if you own the living planet
4. Event that can fire if you have a colony within 3 jumps of a Caravaneer homeworld

So, there's two anomalies and two colony events that can straight give you psionic theory or add it as a research option.
Unfortunately they're mostly extremely obscure or rare, the dark portal is the only option thats really a sure-fire thing, and like I said, its bugged.

The Reckoning can still be defeated if you've invested an insane amount of resources into your military.
The Reckoning can, sure, but keep in mind that's not the End of the Cycle itself. The End of the Cycle is the thing that creates the Reckoning, the countless smaller spirits, Shrouds your worlds, blows up your fleets, shreds your territory, and smashes your megastructures, in what is implied to be minutes or even seconds.

I thought The Reckoning was the materialization of the End, after you oh so willingly sacrifice your entire empire? So calling it the End of the Cycle is correct.

Regardless, I don't really like this. Shrouded Worlds are formed only by the End and by one of the other covenants, and I think being irreversible is sort of the point with them.

I actually think the Reckoning is just the collected energy of your empire's psionics. Hence why it gets stronger as it 'eats' more pops.

Fair enough. But this one, in particular, seems like it's the type of thing that should have more to do relating to psionics... (like the shrouded world that one trinary system, it could get a zro deposit. But is that already there? I haven't gotten that system in a while, I can't remember) I mean, the Gaia phasing is cool, but any empire can get that. As far as I know, there isn't anything exclusive/special/helpful to psionics, or budding psionics.

Well. If you're willing to make a decent offer, you should be able to cut a deal with a Shroud being to remove the grape jelly from at least one world. They're always willing to make fair deals. Even the End is a reasonable exchange, since you're thoroughly warned of the consequences.

You are not a psionic badass at that point. You are still as nothing compared to the powers of the shroud, a toddler reaching for what he but barely understands.

Not all wounds can be healed. A world lost to the shroud is as lost as one that's been cracked.

Actions have consequences.

That said, I wouldn't mind Shrouded worlds always having a research deposit or something.

It's not just the Reckoning, Eater of Worlds will also, very rarely, eat one of your worlds and turn it shrouded. And there's also the planet from the sealed wormhole system.

If I can crush an empire of space orcs as a race of sentient piles of sewage, anything's possible.
Like other "if we can put a man on the moon, we can make a flying car out of canned spam" arguments, that one fails to stand up to scrutiny. :D

I don't think you should be able to colonize Shrouded worlds as such, but perhaps there could be some way of generating resources from the psychic anguish of whatever lived there, with some monthly risk of Fun if you do so.

But if you're already a psionic badass who's conquered the cosmos... you should theoretically be able to make something good happen there.

Do not delude yourself. Psionically ascended race can glimpse into the shroud. Their united efforts allows them to enter the shroud occasionally, spending lots of energy and at the risk of going mad. They are tourists not natives. Do not compare them to those who actually inhibit the shroud and bend it to their wills.
Your Chosen One may look powerful. He may even defeat lesser shroud entities. But there is always a bigger fish. And when you believe you can rival the gods, the Other Gods will show and make you fall into the sky.
