Acquiring Transfer Subject age ability after war began

Hello all.
I have done some research and could not find the answer. I want to declare war on Denmark during the age of discovery hoping to steal Sweden, although at the moment of declaring I don't have the Transfer Subject age ability yet. I will have enough splendor to acquire it in 2/3 years though. Would I be able to transfer Sweden at half cost if I get the ability while already at war with Denmark? I cannot really wait to declare war as Denmark allies are quite busy right now and the age of reformation should trigger soon. This is the perfect moment to strike.

Maybe someone knows, but if not you could just start a new non-Ironman game, give yourself splendor with the console command (helpfully it’s just “splendor”), declare war on Denmark in 1444 with anyone and find out.

It works like you intend to.

But you need to know that you have to declare war where you can actually gain provinces in the peacedeal:
- you cannot use the Humiliation CB,
but Province Conquest CB works.
not sure about Imperial Liberation CB

Also the war needs to end before the Age of Reformation.

You seem to be correct. I have also tried with console commands as @MatthewP suggested for confirmation. I can't confirm for Imperial Liberation but it works with Conquest CB. Thanks for your help!
