Kingdom of Mauretania (k_mauretania)

Well, I perfectly know the difference between Mauretania and Mauritania. However, I did what I could to find the correct name for each language. Not sure I really managed to...

Kingdom of Africa (k_africa)

Well, the current French translation is wrong for that item: it spells Ifriqiya. Like Andalusia/al-'Andalous, I favoured the latin term (so, the current continental name) over the correct historical name in Arabic. For Christians only, evidently.

Empire of Britannia (e_britannia)

Well, quite a complex question here. I thought at first to make a distinction between Celtic cultures and Germanic cultures: Keltika vs Britannia. But this wasn't easy at all. Maybe Irish, Scottish and Breton-speaking people may propose something correct here?
Everywhere, I used the name of 'Great-Britain', save when the name was identical between the continental Britain and the Great Britain.
May be either interesting or totally false... Give you opinion!

This is a high amount of dedication and a lot of work on your part. In reference to your Cuman post, it is usually fair to call them by "Cuman" for most people The Russians called them 'Polovtsy' and the Germans called them 'Folban.' They themselves individually associated themselves with their local tribe and did not have an internal exonym. Only Central Asians called them Kipchaks, for the most part. The Cumans were the western branch of the Federation, and would be the most recognizable to the European peoples.
 
"Byzantine" was never used by anyone while it was around or until more than a century after it fell, and didn't become popular until the 19th century. According to Wikipedia, outside of the ERE itself (or at least in the West) it would have been known as the Empire of the Greeks. I guess you could use derivations of the Latin Imperium Graecorum for Catholics, but I have no idea what other Orthodox nations would have used. It's possible the Rus and other Orthodox would have used a local derivation of Basileía tôn Rhômaíôn, but I'm not a historian.

IMHO, most translations for "Kingdom of Germany" are wrong.
"Germania" or similar terms refer to ancient Central Europe in most languages, the modern nation has different names in those languages.
In German this kingdom is called "Deutschland" and I think other languages employ the modern terms too. So I would guess it's "Allemagne" in French and "Tyskland" in Skandinavian and so on.
 
I think Elfryc is going for as close to contemporary naming as possible, but I could be wrong. In that case, Germany is a hard nut to crack, since linguists don't have a solid hold on what it was called by medieval Germans, but it seems like the nobility tended to use "Germania" while the citizens used some variant of "Deutschland." It looks like you're right on the French and Scandinavian translations, so there's probably something other than variations on "Germania" for foreign countries.

Yea, I looked it up in Wikipedia and it seams like a complete mess, e.g. the German Kings themselves liked to be called "King of the Romans".^^

I begin with my personnal opinion: the kingdom of Germany, in game, isn't accurate when compared to history. It has been created for a question of balance, and being de jure it designs a set of duchies (Brunswick, Thuringia, Cologne, Franconia, Baden and Swabia). That clearly doesn't match the reality of these times.

When compiling these cultural names, I tryed to find a name for each culture.
* This implies that I speak every languages involved, and know all historic debates. Impossible for me, sorry for that. So my idea is to try to compile all these names in a public place (here!), allowing anybody interested and having knowledge on the subject to contribute.
* However, there has been heavy criticism against the foreign words: how to recognise a State when it's not in your own language (mostly English here)? That's why I tryed to find names as recognizable as possible, even when the player don't speak the language (for example, if a Catalan lord inherit the kingdom of 'Germany', he becomes the king of 'Germània'; and if he is elected emperor of the HRE, he become the emperor of the 'Sacre Imperi Romanogermànic'). [no comment on the fact that the name change with the culture of the liege; but I don't really know how it would be feasible differently].

So, in the case of Germany, it seems better to find terms related to the latin term. Maybe not such a good idea, after all, and I'm open to all suggestions! I wasn't aware of the fact that in France we speak of the 'royaume de Germany' ('kingdom of Germania') to imply that the HRE is not Frankish in origin--and we generally recognize Charlemagne as a great Franch king and emperor... forgetting he was also a German emperor. That's a very great distinction with the Holy Roman Empire which followed, the German Empire after, and the current 'Allemagne' (Germany).

So, the best I may propose is something like this, as an example:
