I tried starting a new Ironman game this afternoon to test out the new features, but despite playing a completely unmodded version of the game with no launch options set, achievements are not available, and I'm told I need to uninstall any mods and remove launch options. My checksum is what it's supposed to be, and I've even verified my game files just in case. Nothing. Doesn't matter what start I select, including pre-set starts (I was trying to start an Ivar the Boneless campaign to finally get that achievement when I discovered this), and I'm trying to play on normal, so it's not a difficulty thing, either.
I genuinely do think it's an update issue, since I was playing a campaign with achievements available before the patch last night, and I was using identical settings. Only thing that changed was the patch.
Any suggestions or advice on how I might be able to fix this?
EDIT: After two clean re-installs, I was able to get it to work. Crucially, what seemed to make the difference for me was NOT putting your old save backups in until you've had a chance to fully load into the game and are in the load game screen. Apparently the game was sniffy about the old saves being present when loading. Why? Who knows.
EDIT II: ...and it's back to not working again. Apparently it only worked until I quit out of the game I was playing, then it broke once more. For obvious reasons, I will not be reinstalling the game every single time I want to start playing for the day and/or want to switch save files, so some support would indeed still be appreciated.
EDIT III: Added screenshots verifying what I'm describing above settings-wise. Images embedded because the default forum image viewer cuts off the bottom of the image, so hidden in spoilers tag to keep this readable.
