AGCEEP Members? Historical Inaccuracy?

Does anybody know how to contact the members of AGCEEP, which created the much more historically accurate mod for EU2? I'de be interested in sending them my regards and also making a request for a fix of EU3 in case they decide to remake their mod for the new game.

Similarly, is there any place I can report a historically inaccurate piece of information regarding one of the in-game provinces and its religion? What are the chances of the developers from Paradox fixing such an inconsistency in a patch?

If anybody knows the answers to these questions, I'd be greatful for some replies. :)

The High Council

The High Council is a group of frequent contributors that have come together to administrate and lead the mod to perfection.

The members are:
Twoflower
doktarr
Mad King James
ribbon22
Garbon
Sun_Zi_36
Norrefeldt
dharper
YodaMaster
Fodoron
Thanks a lot for your post! This should be very helpful.

You think I'd have any luck contacting the game developers, or at least writing something that they can read (and hopefully consider) for a future fix in a patch?

I see no reason why there wouldn't be an AGCEEP for EU3, just give them some time. :p
Heck, since the demo, I bet they're already pondering on how to mod stuff. :D

Once the game is released, there will be a special mechanism for users to report bugs. For the one you mention, you'd first need to check whether that province still has that name and religion in the final release version (there have been *many* tweaks made to stuff like that since the demo build) and, if so, report your suggested fix as a bug. You'd need to supply some supporting evidence that you're correct. If the evidence is compelling the devs will most definitely make the fix and include it in a future patch.

The work done by the AGCEEP group with EU2 appealed to a lot of people, and I have no doubt that they (or a similar-minded group) will make a similar mod for EU3. The level of historical detail that they did appealed to many players, but it runs a little contrary to Paradox's overall design approach (it's a bit too constrained by history) so it wouldn't be likely that anything they do would be added (as a patch) to an official release version of the game. It would be left as a mod that people can choose to use or not, according to their preference.

We can still benefit from an AGCEEP-like improved history for starting points, as well as an improved map setup. I've already begun changing population and map names for my own use.

And important historical events could be rewritten to be contextual.

Exactly. The historical leader thing really sucks, but the game is very moddable, so saying that an AGCEEP kind of historical mod is impossible is a bit too harsh I think. :)

When the question about EUIII was raised in the AGCEEP forum it was stated that there was nothing planned for it, and truth be told I have not seen a lot of forum activity here by HC members (YodaMaster, MKJ and Twoflower being the only ones that I have seen post).

Thank you guys for all your posts.

What I speak of is the province on the map called Albania, with its capital of Durres. Historically, middle and northern Albania have been Catholic (with the exception of after the Ottoman occupation), and Durres itself was the seat of a Catholic bishopric for centuries. Not to mention, St. Paul preached the Gospel in Durres in Illyria during Roman times. The religion of Albania should be Catholic; it is correct to keep the religion of the people of Janina as Orthodox since they were under the influence of the Greeks and Byzantines and practiced Orthodox Christianity.

Hopefully this was corrected, but I do doubt it since they made the same mistake with EU2 and it seems to have carried over.

I'll be contacting the AGCEEP team and will hopefully recieve positive feedback from them. :)

I don't think that change has been made, but once the reporting facility is activated I'd suggest you post that info (and some links to sources would be good to make it easy to confirm) and someone will take a look at it.

If the AGCEEP team decides to do something for EU3 then I'm sure they'd be similarly happy to have a look. Even if they don't do one, undoubtedly there will be several different projects spearheaded by enthusiastic modders who would take your suggestion into consideration.

If you like, you can also make the change yourself (though of course this would only affect your game) by going to the Albania file and making the change.

File is: \history\143 - Albania.txt

Code:
#143 - Albania

Earlier you mentioned a name change as well. You can alter that by finding the existing name in the \localisatioon\text.csv file and changing it to whatever you feel is appropriate.

(Note: use Notepad to make both of those changes...don't use Excel for the csv)

Honestly, that kind of thing is not worth the work and the research effort.

If the game flow and the AI cannot be influenced through events and specific objectives, the work can be compared to no more than a glorified and research intensitive index, instead of a detailed, rich and coherent book.

Based in the above mentioned posts by Havard, I fear this game is in fact much less moddable than the first two versions. Paradox gave the community more freedom to mod the unimportant wrapping paper, but much less so the precious content.

MrT, again I thank you and I must say I am very impressed with your activity and the help you've given me on this forum. I have never seen such activity and assistance from a mod before. Thanks a lot!

Tunch, long time no talk. I lurked around enough a little while back to see the significant achievements the High Council made with AGCEEP for EU2, and was rather impressed with their decision to take Zeta (I believe) and instead use it to represent my northern Albania. Hopefully they'll do it again.
