Yep reinstalled Steam. Opened it as an admin and still the very same result unfortunately.
@Deuterium Oxide The biggest issue I have with the new Stellaris Launcher is that my 150+ mods are no longer alphabetized. If that option can be opted back into the launcher that would be great.
Best to move this to the Stellaris Tech Support forum I think.Yep reinstalled Steam. Opened it as an admin and still the very same result unfortunately.
This thread is the closest we have for that purpose. I can work in either place, I just thought we were cluttering up this one. As I guess I am now ...You don't have a launcher tech support by any chance do you?
Hello! Is it possible to visit my topic? We'll have a look at it, but weekend is upon us and realistically expect no answer until Monday at the earliest. I'll have to scrounge up someone that can read Russian as well, but that should be doable![]()
HAHA, found a solution Guys
i also had the Problem that the Launcher couldn't do anything because it was on a diffrent Drive
so i found out you can tell Windows where it should install new Programms in the RegEdit (what you have to change is highlighted)
and now Steam installs the Stellaris-Launcher directly into the Gamefolder - and that works fine
now i can finally tell the Launcher to start the game in Windowed-Mode and i can actually play![]()
maybe this helps the Tech-Teams too
sincerely
Colibru
if you try this:
make sure every single directory is completly deinstalled (with priority to the Launcher directory)
and this foto is neccesary:
Interesting, I shall give this a shot. Here's hoping this fixes the broken ghost directory.~~~ finally i [Mod Edit: Language] solved the paradox launcher riddle ~~~
Alrite, this has been quite a riddle and i am ashamed to say that PDX has contributed NOTHING so far to properly support players affected by this - despite this problem being caused by filepaths ONLY. But with the few hints that players gave during the last few postings in this thread, i was able to figure out this very simple solution, no regedit hassle needed at all, just some copy paste. Note that this applies to a PC / Win10 64bit / Steam version of the game.
So, if your new paradox launcher will not update and points you to support, do the following:
Start the game, the new launcher will fire up and update automatically. I guess i rather should have the community support job here...
- dig out where on your C:\ drive the launcher was originally installed
- in my case this was on C:\user\username\appdata\local\programs\paradox interactive\
- copy everything below that folder into a new folder in your steamapps directory that you name "launcher"
- in my case this is now D:\games\steam\steamapps\common\stellaris\launcher\
- this folder should now contain 4 folders and a bootstrapper-v2.exe file, and some *.txt file
- back to your C:\ drive check into the folder C:\user\username\appdata\local\paradox interactive\
- note that this is NOT the same folder we talked of earlier
- it contains a file called "launcherpath" which has no extension
- open this file with a right mouseclick and select "open with notepad"
- the file contains the path where the launcher was originally installed
- delete the path saved inside the "launcherpath" file, fill in / overwite it with the newly created launcher location path you created in step 3+4
- save the file "launcherpath", leave it where it is
- delete the folder C:\user\username\appdata\local\programs\paradox interactive\
According to the 2.4 patch notes, there IS a dedicated Launcher Support staff, and this is pretty much the entire subforum for all issues with the Launcher. I don't think they anticipated so many people were going to have issues with it (I can't really think of the last time the old Stellaris launcher had more than one bug associated with it at any given time).Forgive my asking what may sound like a very silly question, but why are threads and support requests regarding the launcher being directed here if there is no dedicated support staff for the launcher?
And it's the weekend again. I'm hoping "radio silence" is their usual "we are brainstorming solutions and don't want to say what we're working on since a lot of stuff is being scrapped in this phase and people don't like hearing the solution we were testing was scrapped". Albeit some confirmation about if they are working on it and what priority it is would be nice. The last reply from anyone other than users was "it's the weekend," and that was a week ago on November 1st.

D:\Games\Steam\steamapps\common\Stellaris\launcher\On your screenshot i cannot see the file named "launcherpath", nor which path it contains. Locate it and post its contains, and do post in which directory your bootstrapper-v2.exe is. You checked the file launcher-bootstrapper.log thats not the one you have to edit.
AyeI suppose your bootstrapper-v2.exe is in the location you gave. But where is your launcherpath file? Probably somewhere near C:\user\username\appdata\local\paradox interactive\ ?
See here:

Aye. Even tried to obtain GOG version. Same trouble with launcher.Did you do this as well:
delete the folder C:\user\username\appdata\local\programs\paradox interactive\
Did you restart steam / PC meanwhile?
