Once the invasion is successful all the nomadic vassals are released and turn in marauding raiders, tribal vassals gets independent, and if you play with one of them, as a nomad you will inherit the Hét Magyar and remain in Ukraine, as a tribal vassal you will remain a vassal of the Arpads but will not move to Pannonia...

Why not move the Magyar clans and Qasars to Pannonia as it would be expected? As it is it ends with the Arpads owning all Hungary for themselves.

This whole Hungarian thing is terrible in CK2. They came to Carpathian basin in the end of 9th century and started switching to sedentary lifestyle only after their defeat at Lechfeld in 955 (and there were still nomadic graveyards in third quarter of 10th century). It´s just completely ahistorical.

Well to be fair it took a very specific course of events for the Hungarians to cross the Carpathians that is very hard to replicate, if they can even be replicated at all.

So the question is, what is preferable. That you railroad their settlement of the Pannonian plains 3 decades too early through a war, or that they could potentially not settle in Pannonia at all in a majority of games

Not settling at all. As you said, it wasn´t some kind of usual invasion, which was predictable and was expected to happen. Also, currently, they take about half of Transylvania and then settle, losing their troops after Álmos dies (by the way, characters are also wrong, Álmos died before they crossed Carpathian mountains or soon after they did and Árpád was young back then...here, they are both old 30 years before that). Then Slavs destroy them.
So, yes, I would rather have no Hungarians than this arbitrary mess that is currently part of CK2.

Well, it's a pretty quick fix--just go to history/wars/1st_magyar_bulgarian_war.txt and change each instance of 867.1.1 to 867.1.2. As long as you start the game on 867-01-01, the war will never happen.

FWIW, we'd like to represent the Magyar migration and scourge -- from the situation that actually was the case in 867-900 involving Etelköz, Bulgaria, the Byzantine Empire, Great Moravia, the Pechenegs, and the Khazars and all the way through something like Lechfeld. We've talked about it a lot. We've considered approaches that don't always involve war and many ways to do it, but honestly, none of it fits into CK2 paradigms very well. This combined with the fact that it should actually be highly improbable that the magyars choose to do what they did historically and succeed at it from an 867 start in-simulation makes the whole thing probably something you'd rather we _weren't_ thinking about so much in terms of the fact that, whatever we do with them code-wise, it's still going to be pretty bad at representing the last nomadic migration into Europe, while there's still plenty else that hasn't gotten any of our attention at all yet.

TL;DR: We're definitely aware of the situation. We have improved it a lot vs. vanilla (HL upped the ante a lot here, as tossing in nomadic->feudal made vanilla go bonkers). We'd like to improve it much more. However, definitely no promises.

Its definetely a problem that they always settle when they complete their migration, as there are not enough raids etc. Also some more concentrated attacks on their neighbours would be cool, maybe some sort of special raid CB ? Dont know if this would work.
