My friend, I don't know where you live, but you probably don't live in the Middle East. Our country is the number one stronghold of secularism in this geography, there have been many military coups in our country for secularism and to protect Atatürk's revolutions. Growing a beard in our army is a show of strength against secularism and Atatürk's revolutions, and this is a great crime.
While I understand the importance of the symbolism, it's completely inconsequential if a Turkish sailor in a video game trailer has a beard or not. I highly doubt the marketing team knows a lot about Turkish history.

These guys served under the Ottoman Empire and not just only under the rule of Turkish Republic (except Firle who served under the Reich).

Moustaches yes, beards forbidden.

I find it funny how people are getting pissed because of beards and using historical accuracy as the main excuse, but nobody minds that Germany is bombing Istanbul.

haha! - I would be as well, except I lived in Turkey for six months and now I'm not surprised at all. I'd better shut up here, but you get my drift...

Well Turkey operated He 111 Series and even Fw 190 Series which were later got stored due to lack of spare Parts. There was maybe a German Plan to control the Straits but more obviously since the Prussians and Ottomans had the same enemy - the Habsburgs - they had good relationships since 200 Years which even had an impact to joining the World War 1 alongside Germany (of course they had also no choice).
