Salve!

I am having a problem with manpower and barbarians.
A managed to crush a civil war but now I am harrased all the time by big hoards of barbarians coming from the west(france)and since my manpower is zeeeeero I can't replace my dead troops.

Is there a good way to raise the Stability since this is the major reason the barbarians are coming my way?

It is still 500 bc or so and I have Dalmatia and 3 more provinces in the east, 5 or so coloinized provinces in the north from Narbo and east along my northern frontier and also Syracuse.

This is a really good game, I must say that...

With manpower, just wait. Make sure none of your armies is suffering attrition and eventually your manpower should be back (though it will take some time). In the meantime you could use some mercenaries, they are expensive but do not require any manpower.

The stability is raised by events (not something one can rely on) and sacrifices. Click the religion tab, there should be an icon in the upper right of it where you can click (if you have enough money) and increase your stability. Though the barbarians do not care about stability, just the wealth of the specific provinces.

I assume you mean 500 AUC (roughly 250 BC, hover over the given year to see exactly what it is in BC) as the game starts in 280 BC. Anyway hope things will go well, and that any of this is helpful.

Yes, I meant AUC :) Well, the barbarians keep on coming over and over.... but I did manage to "follow" one of the hoards and kept attacking it and finally it disappeared. My economy wasn't that good but I have now begun to do what u suggest. Hiring mercenaries. Thanks for the help!

To bad there is so little information at the Paradoxian site. The game deserves more attention!

In addition to Lofman's advices.

Manpower: Import fish to your 100% own (roman?) culture provinces. Fish is wasted when used in different cultures, even similar cultures gives only 10 instead of 100 manpower bonus.
Stabilities improved with scarifying gold.
Gold: Import amber to your highest slave population provinces.
Also have provincial armies to dampen the unrest caused by low stability. High unrest penalize taxes which is the main gold income for larger countries.
Barbarians: Use high martial (high finesse) governors in border regions with adequate provincial armies.
