Good question, I am tempted to buy IC but it is not available on Steam and I am not sure if versions from other sellers will work with my Steam version of AoD. My preferred solution would be a Steam release of IC.
They will work, you need a last Patched Version of Arsenal of Democracy ( if you have a steam it will have last version anyways) and when installing Iron Cross, simply choose that you have AoD, and it will install AoD version of IC.

AoD from steam (newest version) and IC from gamersgate (only way to buy it) -> Application load error 3:0000065432
And i did choose the right path and have the right patches and versions and i'm a veteran of mod34 (playing it successfully since mod34 1.02).
If anyone knows a solution: please share it with us!

You need copy your aod game to other directory, and install iron cross in this new path

1) uninstalling AoD
2) redownloading of AoD (1.5 steamversion)
3) copying the whole arsenal of democracy directory to another location
4) installing IC (from gamersgate) to the new location
5) applying version 1.1 of IC
still: "application load error" (steam error msg) because the aodgame.exe is a special steam exe.
and yes - i tried patching the exe with your "Parches HoI2-AoD.exe"

Shut off the Steam program
And download the patch 1.04 or 1.05:

Install the patch in your aod copy

It works when downloading patch 1.04 or 1.05 because there's a different aodgame.exe then the one you get from steam.
I've got only 2 questions left then: Do i need to use the Parches HoI2-AoD.exe? And if so: how many techteams would you suggest? (5 is default, 10 maximum, what would you recommend?)

5 techteams, the Iron Cross is prepared for 5 slots, with 10 you will have very rare games
