If VeF is representative, I'm happy to be missing that "lot".

I mean, I'm impressed by VeF, but it does nothing to sell me on the idea that mods are more fun than vanilla.

I think Wiz somewhere reply to a gold mine depletion question that imply that there will be random events that will increase development...
Thought I hope the events doesn't fire too few times to those without DLC (so without DLC, more random events, with DLC less random events because you can increase it on your own)...

Hope not. It already is luck based game in terms of MP and initial advisors and nations relations. I hope those without the DLC won't have to rely on luck.

New World colonization has to date been a "click to win" mechanic, to the point where I long ago stopped taking exploration ideas because I consider it tantamount to cheating. It is virtually impossible for a slight nerf to new world colonization to be game-breaking.
