Please yes, I cant count the number of times I've wanted to pay off an ally's debt but havent known how much to give them so havent given them anything for fear of paying way too much. Also would be really useful for seeing how weak a nation is economically

In addition, I personally think we shouldn't be able to see how much dept non-allies have because they won't disclose their financial situations to us; allies on the other hand could given that we could help with the problem.

While I think that that's probably what would happen in reality, I think it would be easier to just have it on the ledger for everyone so that the AI can use that info as well if they don't already and also since people would probably generally know the government's financial situation in countrys by the general economic situation

If you look at their score in the ledger you can see if they have a negative modifier due loans. Every active loan is -0.02 monthly admin score.

Actually I wouldn't mind if there was an option allowing us to pay our ally's debt directly.

Bit too much work, particularly since the AI is virtually guaranteed to put the money you gift them into repaying debts. The only thing they prioritize higher is 'having something resembling an army'.

What about multiplayer? It's not a bad strategy to assert that you need way more money to cover your debts than you have. If other players can see your debt, then you can't lie to them.

Hey Wiz, just wanted to say that we are grateful for your and ofc PI's willingness to listen to the community(unlike other companies like CA ). One question though - will the rebels that rise from provinces of the natives which you have conquered as a western nation still have the same tech as you? That's a thing which really bothers me a lot and I hope you change it in AoW. Cheers! :)

Perhaps make it only visible for allies? But more realistic that way. Also, being able to see absolutely everyone's debts might be exploitable somehow. I'm not sure how yet, but it feels like it.

This would be interresting for the Espionage ideas, giving an option to take a look on how strong an enemy nation is econically before even attacking them. Might even help you to give neutral nations some loans.

A little side note, it would be nice if the AI, after you've given them a loan, would tell me "sorry, I don't have the money to pay you back, but give me some more time and I'll find them" instead of just "sorry, bro, nothing for you" - which gives you a Casus belli and nothing more... they can't pay their debt, it should cost stab and prestige not to pay back otherwise "investing" aren't a smart move.

Destroy their entire army and navy in a war, take their money and force them to pay war reparations/transfer trade power in the peace deal, dump all your trade ships into their main trade nodes as privateers and watch them implode. Although, to be fair, this would be usable without knowing people's debt loads, the only difference is that you know it could cripple them.

You can already see both the amount of their loans and their income in the ledger, which you can use to get a decent idea of the size of their debts assuming their income hasn't changed drastically for a while. Being able to see the actual amount wouldn't be that big of a change.
