Industrial Efficiency techs increase resource production. But what you mean is probably something like building more resource mining capacity, like you build industrial capacity.

Don't see a problem, but you'll have to prevent oil wells from springing up in the middle of Germany. Perhaps for a few IC over a year, depending on infrastructure, the total resource production of the target prov could be increased by 20% or so?

well perhaps not too drastic. Why not saying = you can only upgrade - never create raw materials sources.

So this would prevent that oil is discovered "everywhere" but would allow for some expansion of the existing raw material mines and wells.

Besides, a cap could be stored so that every source has its present production and potential value - something like 13/89....thus there'll be a possibility for "opening" a completely new source, but of course it'd cost ;)

Hopefully that doesn't mean that the patch-workers will have to put in cap numbers for every province in the game... A bit work intensive, isn't it?

Actually, as the world discovers Industrial Efficiency Techs, resources around the world do increase.

during the war, i am sure that the US kept searching for more and more resources within their homeland in order to gain safe and reliable sources of materials for their increasing demands.

more mines, more digging, more etc.

an idea is to put a cap on the # of resources that one can take from a certain province.

ex. saudi arabia has only a trickle of oil int he game but it produces the most now. if we can search for more resources in provinces, then the amount of resources taken per day could increase. there should be a limit on how much that could be but that is just like taking resources from occupied lands (you only receive a portion of them).

how it could be used in game:

We wish to secure more material X for our war industry. Search province Y for this material (cost 5 IC for 365 days). after the search is done, the report can state whether search was successful or not (if so daily resource of material X in province Y is incresed by 10 per day). the search would not have to be 100% successful, maybe it should be 50% in order to make it more random whether the material is found or not. afterwards if you wanted to search the same province again for the same material, the search may fail or just increase by 1 total per day.

jsut a thought

i agree that there should be some way of "finding" more resources...but it should be an expensive undertaking and time consuming. something for HOI3 perhaps?

That's not true. Resource production stays the same. The amount of resources needed per IC stays the same. It's one of the dilemmas for Germany: I need to increase my IC to catch up to USSR, but I don't have enough resources for the IC I have now. What do I do?

Historically when Germany faced this dilemna they chose to try to conquer Europe, why not try that yourself;)

I wouldn't worry about drilling! Capture it from other countries..In the worst case, convert some energy into it.

No, the industrial efficiency techs do increase the efficiency of resource extraction, 5% per tech. Check it yourself.
