Due to recent issues with the game, I've been forced to restart multiple times in a very short time frame, and I find myself running into repetitive unnecessary clicks and procedures. This is an effort to suggest some QoL streamlining

  1. Instead of forcing a save to happen, add another option on that window that allows one to just 'Abandon' meaning no save game that one then immediately has to go in and delete, seeing as how you didn't want that game in the first place
  2. The ability to save a 'profile' such as your character's gender, portrait, background choices etc. Just give us the option to 'save profile' that then gets added to the pregen portrait area so we can just load it with one or two clicks instead of having to redo the creation process over and over and over and over... (this is an option in ADDITION to what is already offered, not seeking to replace it, so that those that wish to go through the process every time retain their ability to do so)
  3. similar to #2 except it is tailored to the difficulty settings and choices offered there. the ability to save a set of choices as 'preferred' so you can just select from a list what you have saved as you preferred game settings

Why is any of this necessary you might ask? Good question! I didn't think it was necessary either, until I had to make and then delete over 100 games in short succession due to contracts disappearing bug until I finally rolled back to a previous version. But before I did that... I made 100 games... set all the options, 100 times. All in an afternoon/evening. Until I started getting cranky at the whole process lol.

I might be making an assumption here by assuming it's a simple fix for everyone, but I conducted a full file verification of the game, and that fixed the issue of my random system contracts disappearing. I would recommend this before taking the nuclear option with your saved games.

That fixed me for ONE game session, after closing the game down, came back a cpl hours later. Same problem instantly again. Reverify again, works for THAT SESSION ONLY if I log out, it happens again.

So it's a quasi-solution with no permanence for me at this time

That sucks. Curious that it pops up again between sessions...without knowing more I'd suspect some sort of recurring file corruption.

Well I just learned that task manager forcibly closing the game (when the game refuses to close properly) is guaranteeing corruption, and.... that's how I've had to close the game 90% of the time. Having rolled back to 1.3.2 the past cpl sessions I haven't needed to do this so we'll see?

Interesting that, and I suspect we're not the only ones with the issue.

I'm not seeing any issues with corruption from task manager, other than my one occurrence of missing random missions.

I can't say if my use of task manager shutdown definitely caused that, but I'll consider myself advised

What i do know is this game pulls a metric ton of resources, and the increasing memory use over time I assume means the leak has never been completely addressed.

But it's the ONLY program I've ever run that wasn't killed instantly from the task manager.

I did notice better performance following a recent defrag. If you havent done one for a while I'd highly suggest it. Everything helps to push the game's performance along.
