Couldn't you just invade Spain?
That's what I would have probably done, with a Republican victory.
With the Nationalists? They will stay neutral at worse, and I don't want to do Napoleon's mistake again.

I would for for number 1 too. Historically, Franco did not want to enter the war, and made a bluff by presenting crazy and impossible demmands to enter the Axis (not only territories in Morocco, the vast amount of cereals he asked for was shocking).

Now that you have fulfilled his wildest dreams, the bluff has been called and he would be unable, IMO, to just say "no".

There is also another important factor. Canaris, who was playing a double game, is no longer in charge in this game. So, there is nobody who can significantly incite Spain to push for "unreasonable" demands in order to stay out of the war.

By the way, have you checked the maps?

True! I forgot Canaris was not there anymore.

I have not had time to check the maps yet, sorry!

Franco, with Canaris' help, only asked for too much because he was sure Germany wouldn't actually win. By the way you're going, he should be more than happy to join up to fight more Commies!

I don´t agree too much with that. He felt that Germany would lose and certainly that played an important role in his decision, but the fact that Spain was devastated and could not support another conflict was more important.

With Republican militias still running around trying to destabilize the regime Franco certainly had more pressing concerns.

The truth is that I am not doing much better than IRL. Another truth is that I have avoided to strike France earlier than IRL too to avoid negative comments.
I had no time at all to play and update the AAR. Perhaps this evening...

Real life, job, etc... I didn't have time to update the AAR, I am sorry about that.

Regarding Spain and the broken event, what happened is that France is supposed to still exist :) Cough! Cough!.
I made a try by triggering the event manually, and I got a message that Spain joined the war...but that is all; it actually stays out of it for an unknown reason. The solution will be to force it with acceptall. I will do it, but I have decided to follow my 3rd option, i.e. including Spain in the Axis when my initial plan will have succeeded or failed.

Not trying to get Yougoslavia to join the Axis first?
They'll probably backstab you but... whatever... :ninja:

I did it, and they did it as well. That's why the Fuehrer hate them with such a passion :)

Hopefully, I will post an update soon. I was too exhausted after a flooding at home to do anything but try this challenge http://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/showthread.php?760927-Challenge

Totally forgot about that! Make those traitorous bastards pay! ;)

That save seems quite the challenge, I'm certainly gonna give it a try :)

Better late than never, thank you Kaiser_Mobius for this nomination.

Actually, you are posing me a dilemma! I looked for the first time what this Weekly AAR showcase is, after that I saw in your AAR that you had been nominated. And I thought "If it had been up to me to select one, it would have been The-Dual-Monarchy-at-War-A-1914-Austria-Hungary-DH-AAR"

Ah your researching free house heating, very humane of you!
If I feel that I am short off ideas for irony, I will definitively think about contacting you :p

I have no desire to play as Germany but it really is tempting to play WiF2.
