What next

Since my game as Brandenburg-Prussia is coming to a close... i have set my sights on the next challenge.

I propose on of the following...

England- historical... lowest choice

Austria- Interesting that no one has done it yet

Netherlands- I would play hands off til 1559 as navaho, then have Austria release the Netherlands as a vassal to but an extra 50 years over the other scenerios... what do you guys think?

Netherlands!

I think the idea of doing a Netherlands AAR is great!

Question: would you run more than one pre-netherlands games to try and get a certain starting point? Say, close to RL as possible, or maybe that doesn't matter.

I am planning on running on... as long as it is reasonable i will take it. I am up to 1552, and france and Austria has gained some territory in germany... but that isn't that outragious. As long as its playable... I can use the austrian gains in Germany as a reason why they would let the Netherlands govern themselves... i have to work that in somehow :)

netherlands it is :)

A ship, A sword, A crescent moon: The tale of Oman.

Actually, that's an interesting idea.

It's coming, RJ, don't worry, but right now I'm working on a PBEM aar, as well as several interactives, not to mention that RL has gotten quite hectic *grr*

It should be pretty interesting, though, I took a somewhat unusual approach to the game.

Yep. He's faking it. Probably can't make it past 1430 without being annexed. Try France instead of England next time.:D

Next OscAAR poll topic?

Hey Sharur?

*sings*

So what's it gonna be boy?

Yes...

Or...

Nooooooooo

(Well let me sleep on it, baby let me sleep on it...)

*mercifully stops singing*

****

So what do you have in mind for your next OscAAR poll?

I'd like to propose:

Most "Educational" AAR (say in the last few months or so).

Nominees:

1 - Must have been completed in one way or another (various works in progress at the time the nominations are closed are ineligible until the next go-around)

2- AARs that provide interesting and (hopefully) factual historical information that made you learn something about the real life country or time period that you didn't know before.

3 - No style "restictions" (can be serious, comedy, or whatever)

I've found that I've learned some amazing things I'd never even guessed at until I read someone's AAR here.

Other possibility:

You did a Best Completed AAR, November 2001 - January 2002. I suppose the end of this month will mark the end of the next quarter so a

Best Completed AAR February 2002 - April 2002 or are you saving that one for the month following?

Anyone else have any suggestions they'd like to see?

Ahem... I liked the song, MrT! ;)

I think the educational thingie is very interesting. Of course, factual information can at times be very hard to tell apart from 'artistic liberties' in the AARs. But I'm with MrT on this one.

Don't just reward the winners!

- Most Disastrously Failed AAR
- Most Glorious Failure AAR

And what about widening the subject a bit by moving from focusing on the AARs as a whole, to individuals portrayed in the AARs.

- Most Interesting Main Character
- Most Interesting Sidekick
- Most Heroic Hero
- Most Vile Villain
- Worst Dressed Character

Peter, I think both Fang and Biggles would do well in the "Worst Dressed" category... hmmm... time to do some freehand drawing on the computer, I think.

Look out for "The Portrait of The Cardinal With A Young Man"... :D

But, I agree with Peter as well. So, I really don't have an opinion. Just say something, and I'll agree like that!

Well? Do you agree. Norgesvenn?:)

Actually I like the characterization idea too, and PE's suggestions for the games that bombed somehow.

"Portrait of The Cardinal With a Young Sheep surely..." ;)

And I say that the original Rictus should win 'best sidekick' category without any need for a vote whatsoever... ah, happy days....

Go for best completed AAR February to March 2002, otherwise the Nov-Jan will make no sense, IMHO. Well it'll make sense, but I think it's better to have those "best completed-polls" regularly.
