As far as EU2, I dunno as I've not played it, but in EU 1, if you're in a war and lose all of your military and all of your provinces - even if not all to the same enemy - they can force a peace treaty of very harsh terms against you that you don't even get asked yes or no on. (I once had this happen as Ireland, and England took 2 provinces and some cash, and one of their allies also got a province of mine.) The accept/decline dialogue never came up.

And BTW, the white peace after 3 years only happens if there is no interaction between any forces, and no occupied territories.

Especially 'OK' the major religious events (Tordesillas, Reformation, Jean Calvin, EoT) ... until you click 'Ok', they don't really happen (which defeats much of the purpose of seeing how the game turns out)

Screen Capture Utility?

Which screen capture utilities work with EU2 and how do I get them to work? I've tried SnagIt and the Corel Paint capture utility to no avail.

Yes, this is AAR related, since I'd like the screen captures for an AAR.

Ideas for a first time aar?

As shocking as it may seem, considering how much time I spend on the AAR board and the RPGs in particular, I have never actually written my own aar I would really like to do so, but I can't think of anything that would be really interesting, so I'll take an audience poll: what would everyone like to see? My only requirements are that it be in Europe or the Near East. I was thinking of doing a random monarch personality system (monarch would have random levels of skill, areas of interest, etc., and that's how I would play the game), but if anyone has any other suggestions, I am, as always, open to them

I'll read it, I think the random personality idea is a good one. I am playing a Mecklenburg game with it, my current ruler is weakwilled, meaning the Domestic sliders go every which way, he always succumbs to the whims of the nobles... and the peasants, and the church... (Stability goes up and down, up and down...)

Bismarck, it's not a stupid question, I didn't explain it too well. What it means is that I set down a certain number of monarch traits and randomly pick a number from 1-10 (which I can do with my TI-83 calculator) to represent how close to one end or the other of the trait the monarch is. Somewhat like the DP sliders. For instance, one bar might be weak-willed to strong-willed. Another might be expanionist to defensive. Another might be interested ruler to uninterested (think Louis XIV vs. Louis XV). Of course, in the aar I wouldn't tell you the monarch's traits, you'd have to figure them out yourself

MrT, I'd quite honestly rather see you do whatever it is you have in mind yourself, b/c I think you'd do a better job of it I haven't caught up in your Timurid aar yet, but both that aar and the Drums of the Deep are fine works.

So it is more of a personal reference for you to determine policy as you play rather than something you are doing to game file. Yeah, I could get into that as soon as I see how my current game works out.

Actuall when thinking of it that´s pretty much my favourite way to play. Always the under-dog who wins the battles despite being outnumbered. I remember loving The Great Nordic War scenario playing Sweden with Carolus and his boys against the ruskijs.
