There is one thing that intrigued me in the Brazil AAR regarding (random) characters taking over IGs periodically : the player gets to chose them (or more subtly he o she gets a "you know what you lose but you don't know what you get"decision) As the traits of theses characters apparently have great infleunce on the IGs attitude, espcially towards laws, I am guessing this strange mechanic is here to let the player game his or her way towards IGs approval, avoiding a possible frustrating stalemate regarding the eternal opposition of powerful IGs to what the player wants to achieve law-wise.
I was wondering to myself if I'd prefer to not have my say at all (and accept whatever leaders IGs pop out first to better represent these contingencies) or engage in that kind of gambling and hope for a messiah to sculpt my country exactly as I want it to be ?
Well so long as there's a cooldown so you can't spam it, then there shouldn't be a big problem.

I was also thinking like this but we could expand this. When a new leader to be chosen for whatever reason, the interest group could be in a state of interregnum for a period of 4-12 weeks. The game presents us 2-4 candidates aiming for the leader position with their traits and popularities attached. We can back one of them or we can stay out of this competition. If the one we back has become the leader he/she would have a more positive opinion of us while if the winner is not the one we backed they would have a negative modifier.

Or make the intervention cost IG approval, and only let it happen while the IG is loyal.

So the more you did in the past to placate that IG the more often you can attempt to influence in your favor

Meh, these AARs are becoming increasingly superficial. "Let's play a bit to showcase a country and then quit before things become serious." Then again, I think I understand why: As discussed above, AI is probably far from done. If AI can't make serious resistance you cannot have serious playthrough beyond couple of decades.

These AARs are still good reading though, it's nice that they share.
This seems to be primarily because the devs are pushing map changes much more now, both the brazil and belgium AARs were supposed to continue but their saves got bricked by updates, so like i do get the want for seeing the more serious moves with a country right now, but it's not like it was an intentional quitting of those saves.

They were able to repair the Brazil and Belgium saves atleast one of them wrote it on Discord.

I think what they aaid was it was a possibility they managed to fix it? In any case we never heard more, so it's probably dead.

I put the quote from discord here:

(rejoice, the saves are not broken anymore, so can come back to the Brazil save during the weekend or so)

Also there is a sweden AAR right now on Discord.

Mr Depre just stopped mid-sentence?
From what I've seen they called it a day not long after and mostly just chatted about ledgers and prestige counting based on production. TLDR; save taken, might play few hours in between and then eventually start another AAR going more directly into unification.

This. Paul basically thinks ledgers are bad and a cheap solution for not managing to show the info properly inside the game.

This has probably been asked before, but why aren't the AARs posted in the specific AAR channel? Is it because they're done "on the fly", without any prior announcement or "curating"? I don't think anyone would bother if the official AARs showed bugs and such, we all know they're more experimental than anything else, and I'm sure it would be a lot easier to follow the AARs without the trillion comments from every other discord member.

It's because they are not "official", yes. Of course, creating "v3-unofficial-aars" channel would be a simple matter.

The current approach does allow for some interaction with community during the AAR, but as everyone has seen by now this is a mixed bag, at best. I could certainly do without it.

keep in mind that this is actually mostly a mixed bag for the community members outside the discord, the developers have repeatedly mentioned that it's half of the appeal to them that people can interact directly in the AARs

Yeah my apologies for cutting it off a little early. There wasn't much more after that. There was a interesting picture of prestige being gained for coal production. Note Nova Scotia being confirmed no longer part of New Brunswick state.

We could still have the interactions, just in a separate channel for ease of reading.

This is the reason we don't continue much of the time. The longevity of keeping saves stable for long periods of time is hard with a lot of the changes coming in at current. Also while I would love to marathon to the late game and AAR that - there's only so much free time I can stay invested after spending an 8 hour day working on the same thing. Plus there is this thing called "adult responsbilities" I do not enjoy them but they need to get done.

We were having a different chat and I was running the game in the background to try and get us to unification faster - because rushing a late era tech takes effort.

This. Paul basically thinks ledgers are bad and a cheap solution for not managing to show the info properly inside the game.
I stand by it, ledgers have a place but they should not be the go to solution - an attempt should at the very least be made to better represent the data in the game as opposed to a ledger accessed by menu or otherwise.

I thought you used git in PDS? If I had that kind of problem, I would simply clone a new local repository to another folder, and use that for playing, and the other for development.
