As fascinating as the Schumburg-Lippe AAR was to read isn't the players position now completely screwed? Sure, the new land and the new people are good, but promising Hanover as a puppet has made the resulting neation completely surrounded by Prussia with no potential left for expansion. The country may now be 10 times bigger but it's still tiny.
I wonder if Prussia would have been satisfied with annexing one or two states leaving the western parts of Hannover still up for grabs.

Why would being unable to expand mean that the country is "completely screwed"?

You say that as if unification of the Lippes wasn't all the expansion one could ever dream of.

(And no, the only thing Prussia could be enticed with was making Hanover a puppet, everything else was a flat no)

Because Prussia will just eat it up when forming Germany. Also, how does someone disagree with a question?

Hmm, could you theoretically eat up another German minor, despite not having a common border?

And how would further territorial expansion prevent that from happening?

I disagreed with your question because it seemed like it was operating from an incorrect premise, namely that the goal of the game is territorial expansion.

Prussia’s going to get its mitts on Hannover eventually though, wouldn’t it? If anything, getting them to do it by force probably got Prussia more Infamy then they would otherwise would have. This might make it easier to get an outside patron to protect against Germany forming. Sasuga, Lippe-sama.

hanover cannot because I sign a customs treaty (to be simulated in the game) and then join the empire, even if in the Austro-Prussian war they sided with austria like bavariahttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Erfurt_Unionhttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zollverein

Lippe is the finest land in all the world, I do not understand this obsession with conquering inferior non-Lippish clay.

Well, I disagree with that, but I am biased. I lived half my life in what was southern Hannover and the other half in eastern Westfalia I can assure you that the good stuff is found literally right outside the land of Lippe.

How exactly is it working, this Unification Play? You start it against a country you want to unify with, and it easily agrees unless rival opposes? Or you start it against your main rival in culture group?

Btw thank you very much for this AAR, game looking so exciting

Do you really think I can't see through this Hanoverian propaganda attempt to become annexed by Lippe and hence have its status raised by association?

So... Austria attacked Switzerland, took Zurich but gave away VIENNA to Bavaria. In 1838.

I know they increased AI aggressiveness etc just really hope they will balance this negotiated settlement thing, and balance wars and plays in general, so that its really hard to break the status quo, especially that early on. European borders should be really static in the beginning of the game
