AAR Screenshot Advice

I'm thininking of doing an AAR and it won't be one of the usual supects and I'm leaning towards the almighty New Zealand. Won't be able to do a world conquest due to manpower issues, but I'll give it a good go and have some off the wall ideas on how to do it.

1. I know about the F11 to take a pic, and i've found them on the computers hard drive. How do you get them on here. Ive read another thread but still struggling (retarded).

2. Anyone done a New Zealand AAR before? I assume they're not to common.
3. Also have some ideas about a Lithuanian one, anyone done one of them with no mods such as giving yourslef extra manpower?

I've had some practice games with both countries and have some off the wall ideas.

First off welcome to writing in AARland.

Have a look at the HoI2 AAR library here in the H to N section you can find AARs on New Zealand. Lithuania can also be found in the Library.

To upload pics I recommend photobucket. Sign up there and you can upload pictures and then it gives you BB code that you paste into your post to display the picture.

As this is AAR advice I am shifting this to the general AAR forum. Have a look at the FAQ on AARS and if you can't find an answer there feel free to ask.

I generally use Photobucket. For AARs that are not a bazillion images, it works well. If I remember correctly, they have a tutorial on how to upload.

When you have an image uploaded, hover over it, and use the IMG code. It looks like this: (without the one *)

I created a photobucket account the other day. Couldn't get the image on here.Do you use theinsert link button on the forums CP to do that?

After you've uploaded a picture to photobucket hover over the picture in the album. It provides four codes, the bottom is IMG code. Copy that and just paste it directly into your post. You don't need to use the insert link button or any other it is already good to go.

The easiest way to tweak the size is to do so before you upload it. But if you don't want to do that select edit above the picture and there is resize and crop and other tools available there.

If you haven't tweaked the size when saving the picture (maybe I'll make something for that today sometime) you can resize it generically in one of the options on the page. For example, in this post I informed a user how to post pics. In the second pic on the right side you can see where you're able to resize. Hint: It says resize

It resizes the pic for 15 & 17 inch monitors, if my memory is working today.

While I did use Tinypic for the explanation, photobucket is the same, I believe.

Under threat of being forced to listen to old Bob Dylan records in the other room this early morning I’ve decided to go ahead and answer your question with pics. Yes, with pics! Now I’m sure there’s a guide or two out there telling you how to do this but pic support is always better.

Everything below is shown using the paint program that should be on your computer somewhere.

Now, first we go into the screenshot area and drag up our beautiful little screenshot. Moldavia looks great this time of year, no? (The actual pic is kind of big so I’m going to resize it at the uploading site... I’ll point to exactly where that is at the bottom of this page.) Right click it and open it with paint.

The pic is well and good, it shows everything but its just too big. So we have to resize it.

To manually resize there are little dots at each corners and half marks, so noted by their circles below. You can click and drag these to shorten the pic. Note: I also resized this image on the uploading site.

In shortening it, this is what I ended up with.

If there’s a part of the pic you want to save in one corner but don’t want the rest, take your little box tool - which I circled in the upper left corner - then click and drag the box around the area you want to save. Then, right click.

So hit the “Cut” option - or copy, it doesn’t really matter much for this example - then right click again. Hit paste. Your new pic will pop up in the upper left corner. Then play with the little dots I showed you on the second pic of this post until you get it how you want it. This is what I ended up with.

Once shortened, save it and take that to your uploading site. That should be it.

As for the resize option on the site... its here (for tinypic, its likely in the same area of other sites too)

Very nice explanation Brandenburg! We as AARlanders should make a complete package with pdfs which explain how to make nice screenies and how to best put them in an AAR and psds (TRP's project) for enhancement.
