Motivation: 'Though I am a bit of a newbie at EU, I would like to share this experience with you. All advice is welcome, and so is criticism.
Also, while playing Ceasar3, I noticed that keeping an diary means slightly more thoughtful play.
I noticed there is at least one other AAR, by Estonianza, which does not run very far.
I play the game at normal.

Buildup
1492 Jan
500d. Our king takes the safety of Danzig as the primary goal for the next 5 years. He also states it will be a prime goal to keep Russia out of Scandinavia. The economy is boosted by promoting a series of bailiffs to tax collectors. These financial reforms takes up our entire financial reserves. We offer a royal marriage to Bohemia which she accepts.
As for research, Naval development is seen as unimportant for our country. Back to zero, though our royal highness influence will no doubt give some thinly veiled support.

1492 Feb
We send a merchant to Novgorod. The merchant establishes himself a month later.
With huge armies in the field, it is very tempting to go to war, but we lack the required artillery for sieges.

1492 Apr: Merchant to our own Danzig.

1492 Aug: Russia declares war on Kazan.

1492 Nov: New merchants are sent to Danzig.

1492 Dec
Moldavia suggests a royal marriage. We gladly accept, as we see Turkey as a future victim of our ambitions.

1493 Jan
182d. With the new cashflow, more bailiffs are promoted.

1493 Feb
France is struck by civil war, if we may believe the news papers. The King expresses a wish to wed a princess form Lorraine to one of his nephews.

1493 May
We expand our trade in Russia, and in the far west Spain has finally concluded its centuries old war by annexing Granada.

1493 Dec
Kazan is fully annexed by Russia

1494 Feb
Our generals report that they have invented artillery.
We prepare for war on the Teutoinc Knights. While playing other countries I found these semi small countries on my borders a constant irritation. Let’s deal with this one, before it joins an alliance with Sweden/Denmark and Russia. Their attitude towards us isnt very favourable to start with.

1494 Apr
We declare war. We march on Courland and Livonia, but somehow their armies escape us and lay siege to Lithuania and Belarus. Their 7000 defeat our 26000 men, and they go on to besiege Polotsk, Welikia, Pripet and Tula. What am I doing wrong? I suffer two more defeats against minorities until, in 1945 Apr, I have eliminated their field armies. I raise new armies in Lithuania and Welikia.

1495 Aug
France invites us to join a military alliance with them, of which also Savoy, Scotland and the Papal states are members. We politely decline.

1495 Oct
From Estonia, the last unbesieged Teutonian province, 19000 men attack the 23000 men besieging Livonia. We send in 7000 men from Courland, but in vain, they break the siege of Livonia, and are soldiers are beaten with over 10000 losses. They offer peace in exchange for 6d. We decline without even asking our King.
Abroad, rebels in France break the government.

1496 Mar
The siege of Courland slowly bears fruit, the walls show some breaches (-4). With 29000 men, discipline strong, we march to Livonia, defended by 20000 teutonics.
In the west, Scotland, France, Savoy and the Papal States wage war on Spain, Milan, Naples, Lorraine and …. Persia. Our nobles wonder what Persia can mean except for verbal support.

1496 Apr
2000 Teutonic knights arrive in Welikia. We build a new army in the Lithuanian capitol. The 29000 men in Livonia are defeated with heavy losses. The Teutonics demand 57d for peace. We decline.

1496 May
Spain invites us to their alliance, we decline. The Teutonics start to besiege Welikia.
Moldavia invites us to enter a royal marriage. We gladly accept. Our future is in the south and east. This marriage will mean support and many Moldavian deaths, which I prefer over Polish deaths.

1496 Jun
The Teutonic Order starts to besiege Tula. They attempt to take the city by assault, which nearly succeeds, the Teutonics break just a split second before the defenders would have. But half the garrison has been killed.

1496 Jul
The Teutonic Order demands 61d for peace. Needless to say, we decline.
Moldavia invites us to a military alliance, to which we agree. We march Polotsk to Livonia, which is now undefended. A new siege. Zaslawski reports himself ready in Lithuania, but is ordered to train his men. The Germans lift the siege of Tula.

1496 Nov
Courland offers us a white peace, we decline.
Courland falls. We annex Courland.

1497 Jan
175d. The King compliments us on keeping Danzig. He now places the same priority on keeping the new Kurland. The now free army marches to Memel, in order to assist taking that city.
The King also reports we failed with the mission to keep Russia out of Scandinavia. I don’t understand, there is no Russia in Scandinavia.

1497 Feb
We take Memel by storming its breached walls and succeed. Kontanty Ostrogksi is sent to Welikia, which still holds out but can fall any day.

1497 Mar
Welikia falls. Our adversaries offer us peace in exchange for Welikia and all our gold. We decline.

In the next few months, several small teutonic forces try to lift the siege of Livonia, but our army holds firm.

1497 Jun
Ostrogski marches on to Estonia. Danzig builds a transport.

1497 Jul
We win a battle before the gates of Estonia. The Teutonic Order again offers peace, in exchange for Welikia and some gold.

1497 Aug
Seemingly out of nowhere, 3000 Teutonics are besieging Memel.

1497 Dec
We finally capture Livonia. They offer Memel for a peace treaty.

1498 Feb
189d. We get compliments for the royal marriage with Lorraine. While doing so, the king asks us for a royal marriage with Saxony. We accept his wish, and send out a diplomat who bungles the delicate affair. Relations with Saxony decline.

1498 Mar
We use the new money to promote some more bailiffs, built a warship, and raise troops.
They offer Estonia for peace.
From Estonia we march on to Ingerland. From Livonia to Wekilia. 5000 men attack the Teutonics in Memel.

1498 May
We are victorious in Memel and Ingerland. But the Teutonics send a force of 1200 men from Wekilia to Livonia, which causes 2000 casualties before it is routed. Another messenger stresses the great advantages of Estonia and peace.

1498 May
Estonia is stormed by 2000 Teutonics. Where did they come from?
We recruits new troops in Lithuania.

1498 Aug.
A new peace offering 2 provines, also declined.
3000 enemies assault 9000 Polish heroes in Livonia.

1498
They are reinforced by 3000 Teutonics from Welikia. While the battle still rages, they offer Estonia for peace. Never!

1498 Nov
We lost the battle. These guys are tough!

1498 Dec
New armies are ready, 5000 + 7000 men. But its winter, so when they join there are just 9000 left. We decline another offer of Estonia for peace.

1499 Jan
188d. New merchants to the well known trade centers. Two bailiffs are promoted.

1499 Feb.
The peasants in Chernigov revolt! My stability is +2. Why?
The engineers report they know how to invent refineries. Only problem is that I don’t have sugar or wine provinces.
With 16000 men I march on Livonia, to assault the 5000 besiegers.

1499 Mar
Well, 16000 Poles are no match for 4000 Teutonics. It wasn’t even a decent battle.

1499 Jun
The peasants in Mozyr revolt. We suppress the revolt in Chernigov, and march our army again to Livonia. The army in Ingerland is still besieging the town, but there are serious doubts about its effectiveness.

1499 Jul
This time we relieve the city. Great rejoice!

1499 Oct
5000 fresh troops march on 2000 Teutonics defending Wekilia, which they captured some years ago and still hold. The force besieging Ingerland has dwindled down to less than 2000, so we send some reinforcements from Livonia.

1499 Nov.
We loose another battle at Wekilia. OK, next army!

1499 Dec
7000 cavalry down the drain at Wekilia. But Ingerland is finally taken, after over 2 years. The generals promised to take it within 12 months, but OK, we have it!

1500 Jan
Great, money for new troops!
Glinsky arrives, finally a second good general.

1500 Mar
The citizens in Krementjug revolt, no wonder, I put tolerance towards Catholicism and Orthodox on their maximum at the cost of Muslim tolerance. Meanwhile the Teutonics keep sending ridiculous peace offering, 2 provinces.
Glisnky is sent North to take command of the two beaten armies.

1500 Apr
Ostrogski marches from Livonia to Wekilia with 7000 stout hearted fellows. He wins easily and starts a siege.

1500 Jun
The last Teutonic commander travels between Wekilia and Tula and gets beaten every time.

1500 Jul
The teutonics offer 3 of their 4 provinces.

1500 Aug
We built another 2000 men and 10 guns to help reconquer Wekilia.

The peasants in Krementjug revolt again. We change tolerance to an equal 5 among all 3 religions.

1500 Oct
The Teutonics offer Estonia, and only Estonia, for peace. Ridiculous.

1500 Nov
The teutonics send another two diplomats offering Estonia for peace. We decline.

1500 Dec
We finally annex the Teutonic Order!

1501 Jan
254d. Aleksander Jagionelski rises to the Polish Throne.

1501 Feb
Looking around, I notice that the relation with everyone has fallen considerably. Prussia, my vassal, is at –199. We suggest a royal marriage with Saxony, which they accept.
Bohemia is at –165 despite the royal marriage.
We send new merchants to Kurland. We also appoint bailiffs in our four new provinces.

1501 Jul
The navy seems to have sailed to the gulf of Finland, and is annihilated. Troops are stationed at Ingerland and Memel, two provinces with revolt risk 3%.

1502 Jan
The King compliments us on keeping Courland, and now vows we will keep Ingerland.
We spend a lot of energy and money upgrading bailiffs to tax collectors. We also enter a royal marriage with France.

1502 Apr
Algiers declares war on Morrocco.

1502 Sep
The peasants in Memel rise, the revolt is suppressed.
Basically I would now like to gather strength for the next conflict. That is, raise new troops, build a healthy cash reserve, upgrade trade and infrastructure to level 3. That will allow us monopolies and chief judges. Both mean extra cash.
As for more territory, I hesitate between
- an alliance with Denmark / Sweden against Russia
- an alliance with Russia against Denmark / Sweden
- an alliance with Austria/Hungary/Bohemia against Turkey.
We raise fresh troops in Memel and Krementjug.

1503 Jan
352d. We send out new merchants to Thrace and Courland.

1503 Feb
Most of the merchants seem to establish themselves well. The king congratulates us on the royal ties with Saxony.

1504 Apr
d386. Trying to improve relations with Saxony. Denmark has an alliance wit Russia. Politically we are very isolated.

The next Report is already played, but not yet on this pc, so I wont post it now.

Intermezzo and first Turkish war

Intermezzo

1504 Apr
d386. Trying to improve relations with Saxony. Denmark has an alliance wit Russia. Politically we are very isolated.

OK, in between I learned about a badboy rating. I checked the save file and Polands rating is 13. Last year it was 14, so it decreases over time. I will need to behave a while longer.

1504 Aug
A fleet of pirates has been sighted in the Gulf of Cyprus en might harm my interests there. Interests? Do I have interests in the Gulf of Cyprus???
We raise 4000 extra infantry for Ostrosky’s army in Innerland, and 4000 cavalry for Glinsky’s army in Krementjug.
We sent merchants to Genoa, and new entrepeneurs to Thrace.

1505 Jan
493d. Vasili III becomes emperor of all Russians. (And I hope he will soon have some less Russins)
More merchants to Genoa!

1505 Mar
ReVolt in Innerland.

1505 May
The middle east explodes into flames. Persia declares war upon Iraq, and is joined by Spain. Venice and their eternal allies the Mameluks come to the rescue of Iraq.

1505 Jun
We recruit 4000 cavalry in Innerland and 4000 in Besarabia.

1505 Sep
Russia, Denmark and Pskov declare war on the Golden Horde.

1506 Jan
604d. I would dearly like to improve my trade level by 1, which allows monopolies. But I am at 1653/4543, gaining 14(budget)+6(monarch) monthly. It would take me till Sep 1517 to finish it.
I see 2 ways to speed it up. One is to built a refinery in a grain province. That would add 5 monthly, according to British experience. The other way would be to plunge 600 credits in and get a one time boost of 300. With 5 years the refinery would be better.

Zigmund Istary rules the country.

I had hopes to declare war on Russia when they attacked the Golden Horde. The alliance with Denmark makes this less feasible. A pity!
We forego this option and build a refinery in Smolensk. Ah, small calculation error: 24 months before it has been built. Ok, 7 years is still preferable above the 600 one time boost.

1506 Mar
We reinforce the Memel regiment with 2000 cavalry.

1506 Jul
Ingerman revolts.
France declares war on England, joined by Papal States, Savoy, Helvetia and Scotland. The Golden Horde pays 4d for peace, well done guys!

1507 Jan
256d. A court party because we still rule Ingermanland! And it remains our top priority for the next 5 years. That’s why we recruit another 4000 infantry in Ingermanland, and 4000 cavalry in Bessarabia.

1507 Feb
We are promoted to Viscount.

1507 Apr
Venice pays 250 to Turkey for peace. I must have overlooked that war. I now also find that Turkey owns Ragusa, Illyria en Istria.

1507 May
The generals have worked out new theories for artillery support of infantry. Fine.
This badboy rating really ruins all external relations. Bohemia is at –151 despite the royal marriage.

1507 Jul
Iraq pays 77gold and Kirkut to Persia for peace. We recruit 2000 infantry in Memel.

1507 Oct
A conquistador, Lanckoronski, and 1000 men are at our disposal in Bessarabia. A pity we are hemmed in on all sides. We will have to build ships. Lanckoronski to Danzig.

1508 Jan
349d. Financial resume:
Novgorod (171), 5 traiders, 10d/y.
Kurland (46), 5 traders, 2d/y
Danzig (75), 4 traders, 3d/y
Thrace (94), 3 traders, 3d/y
Genoa (158), 3 traders, 3d/y
Holstein (96), 1 trader, 1d/y
Thrace looks the most promising, so 3 commerciants are sent south.
The refinery in Smolensk is finished. The date for the next trade level, which had slowly crept to 1517 Dec, is now 1515 Dec.

1508 Feb
Lanckoronski arrives in Danzig, where his ships are still being built.

1508 Jul
9000 peasants in Memel revolt. The revolt is surprised by the 4000 men stationed, but 50% of them die. Ok, 3000 men reinforcements.
And another 4000 reinforcements for Lanckoronski.

1508 dec
Spain declares war upon the Inca empire. Poor Inca’s.

1509 Jan
365d. We raise 4000 recruits each in Bessarabia. Tula, and Krementjug.

1509 Mar
Scraping together our entire marine, we got 8 ships, which we assemble at Danzig.

1509 Jun
Lanskoronski sails from Danzig to the atlantic. I hope there is something left in the North of America to settle. We have 1 settler.
France accept peace with England in exchange for Connaught and Calais.

1509 Oct
Thuringen declares war upon Saxony. Strange, Saxony has 30000 men in the field. 19000 defeat 10000 Thuringers.

1510 Jan
486d. The fleet with Lanckoronski turned out to be unable to explore any unknown seas, and returns home.

1510 Mar
Thuringen is fully annexed by Saxony. We send a letter to congratulations to the Saxon king, which improves the relation to ‘our enemies’.
We raise 4000 Polish riders in Bassarabia and 3000 infantry in Ingermanland.

1510 Dec
Our military alliance with Moldavia expires. We immediately create a new one.

1511 Jan
588d. New merchants are sent to far Thrace.

1511 Apr
Memel revolts. The revolt is suppressed. Heretics in Tula are converted to the true faith.
3000 infantry recruited in Memel, 4000 in Bassarabia, and 4000 in Tula.

1512 Jan
711d. Spain signs a white peace with the Inca empire. Whats wrong, are the Spanish soldiers suffering from the yellow fever?
A new refinery is constructed in Mozyr, a wool province, at the cost of 655.
The king is in a good mood, as we achieved his ‘strategic goal’ of keeping Ingermanland. He publicly proclaims that this province remains a top priority the next 5 years.
4000 infantry is recruited in Krementjug.

1512 Mar
Spain declares war on the Aztecs. The german world declares war on Turkey: Austria first, followed by Hungary, Bavaria and Wurtemberg. Tunesia and Algiers join the war on Turkeys side.

1512 May
Russia declares war on the Golden Horde. Pskov and Denmark join Russia. I invite the Golden Horde for a military alliance, but they decline. A pity, I could use a good excuse to declare war on Russia.

1512 Aug
England declares war on France. Scotland, Papal States and Savoy join France.

1512 Oct
Golden Horde accepts peace, Kujbyschew becomes Russian.

1513 Feb.
253d. 4000 cavalry raised in Ingermanland, 4000 in Bessarabia.

1513 May.
Our admirals bring the glad tiding they can now design and build caravels. I inquire a bit further and learn that’s the type of ship Columbus used to discover strange lands in the far west.

1513 Oct.
We order 4000 more infantry and 10 cannon in Bessarabia.

1514 Jan
453d. The new refinery in Mozyr is reported ready for production. The prediction for trade level 3 is moved 3 months forward, september 1515.

First Turkish war
We declare war on Turkey! Moldovia is asked to join us in this struggle. Tunis, Algiers and Cyrenaica join Turkey.
Glinsky (44000 brave souls) and Zaslawski (20000 heroes) are ordered to march on Bujak, where 6000 Turks are assembling.
We recruit 10000 hussaria in Krementjug, and 8000 infantry in Podolia. The Turks can be seen recruiting in Bujak and Dobrudja. Our allies the Moldavians also recruit.

1514 Feb
10000 Moldavians clash with 6000 Turks on the Moldavian soil. We start a siege of Bujak.
We raise an army of 10 guns and 10000 infantry in Ukraine.

1514 Mar
3000 Turks attack our besieging forces of 19000 men in Bujak, but are defeated, though they take 2000 of our men with them in the grave.
The Turk offers peace if we pay 6d.
Meanwhile, 4000 Bavarians have arrived in Dobrujka and battle with 2000 truks

1514 Apr
Solokowski is ordered with 10 guns and 3000 men to Bujak to help take the city.

1514 May
Glinsky arrives in Dobrudja with 34000 men and lays siege to the city. I wonder: did he really loose 10000 men due to attrition in spring?

1514 Jun
5000 Turks must have slipped through and attack our army in Bujak. 3000 more battle in Moldavia against our ally. We win in Bujak, and have 25000 men left.
3000 Turks lay siege to Podolia. 23000 more Turks are on their way through the Hungarian province of Ruthenia.
Kontanty Ostrogski is ordered from Ingermanland with 25000 men to deal with this problem.
Wollowicz has 8000 well trained men in Bessarabia, and is ordered to deal with the 3000 Turks there.
The center of the Balkans is a smoldering mess: Oldeburg, Presburg, Carnolia, Pest, Rumelia and Bulgaria have large columns of smoke.
15000 Turks march through Walachia, probably to join the 23000 men marching through Rutenia. I feel my intervention is in the nick of time.

1514 Jul
34000 Turks pitch their tents before Moldavia, and storm the city virtually the next day.
Wolloweicz lifts the siege of Podolia in a splendid victory. 2000 Turks die against 700 Poles.
4000 Turks and 20 cannons attack Dobrudja, where Glinsky commands 24000 men. The Turks demands 8d for peace. In Dobrudja too we are victorious.

1514 Aug
Turkish fugitives arrive in Pripjet and take control of the province.

1514 Sep
8000 cavalry arrives in Budelia, and defeat 400 Turkish light cavalry.
They lay siege to the city, but get no rest, as they are attacked by 7000 Turks. These are however raw recruits, who rapidly take to their heels after causing 2600 casualties.
Turkey demands peace, Pripjet, and payments of 8d. Need I mention our reply?
Wollowics defeats the Turkish fugitives in Pripjet, and is ordered back to the border.
There is also a large battle in Bulgaria, 40000 men in total, and we assume that the Austrians win, as general Ferdinand is in command.
Our 5000 cavalry in Rumelia is attacked again, this time by 3000 Turks. Again we can reap the banners of the Turks from the fields of honor.
23000 Hungarians, Austrians and Bavarians under Ferdinand in Bulgaria are attacked by 9000 Turks.

1514 Oct
Our Rumelian army is attacked again, by about 1000 Turkish infantry, and is defeated- it withdraws to Dobrudja.

1514 Dec
It seems but a matter of months till both Moldavia, Bujak and Dobrudja fall. Ostrogski is on his way from the extreme north with 12000 men, and 13000 more are awaiting his arrival in Galicia, but I doubt he will arrive in time to prevent the fall of Moldavia.
Then, suddenly, Bujak is under attack of 8300 Turks. Opposing them are 15600 of our stoutest men.
Moldavia falls, a sad day. Even sadder is that our men must retreat from Bujak, with 60% losses.

1515 Jan
257d.
Glinsky still besieges Dobrudja with 13000 men, all cavalry. 7800 Wurtembergers are approaching through Rumelia. Kazimiersky limps back from Bujak to Bessarabia with 6800 infantry. Ostrogski has 17000 men in Galicia, 6000 more are on their way.
Opposing them are 3000 Turks in Bujak, 19000 men just leaving Moldavia with unknown destination, and 15000 men in Wallachia. I don’t take 10000 Moldavians into account, which is still formally neutral. We besiege Dobrudja, which can fall within a few months (walls –5).
Time to raise new armies. 7-9000 men each are recruited in Bessarabia, Krementjug and Galicia.
We order Ostrogski to liberate Moldavia. At the end of the month, Dobrudja capitulates.

1515 Feb
All Turks seem to move west. 35000 Turks can be seen marching west from Wallachia, while 7000 move south from Moldavia to Wallachia. I wonder what monster army the Austrian coalition has managed to create.
Kazimirsky arrives in Bessarabia with 10.700 stragglers. The Wurtembergers march through Dobrudja North.
Ostrogski arrives in Moldavia and starts to siege it. We order Kazimierski back to besiege Bujak.

1515 Mar
From abroad we receive news that the Aztec empire has made peace with Spain, 250 gold + Tuxpan to Spain.
Turkey offers a ridiculous white peace.
9000 Hungarians come marching up from Thrace.

1515 Apr

Turkey accept peace from Hungary and pays 21 gold.

1515 May
15000 raw recruits from Galicia and Besarabia, with a still weak morale, are sent to the just conquered Dobrudja while Glinsky advances on Rumelia.

1515 Jun
We start to siege Rumelia.

1515 Jul
The 15000 raw recruits arrive in Dobrudja, and their morale has increased to strong. They march on to Bulgaria, a certain department has gained intelligence that the Turks are cruiting a large army there.
Austrian troops help for a while with the siege of Moldavia, but leave now with unknown destination.

1515 Aug
The Turkish army in Bulgaria escapes our new army, which is commanded by Kazanowski. No, Kazanowski intercepts them just in time, and defeats them soundly.

1515 Sep
Radomirski’s 6000 recruits are now fully trained and are ordered to Dobrudja.
Considering that in any peace treaty we aim for the conquest of a few provinces, and that Moldavia will be restored, we order him on to Bulgaria, as strong Turkish forces are assembling in that area.

1515 Oct
We lift the siege of Bulgaria and start to besiege Thrace itself.
17000 Turks seem to be moving south from Macedonia.

1515 Nov
Reformation. Our traders think they finally figured how Venice and the Hanseatic league create monopolies. We use this immediately and send merchants out to Novgorod,

1515 Dec
Radomirski arrives in Dobrudja with 5300 men, and is sent on to besiege Bulgaria.
12000 Turks out of nowhere start to besiege Dobrudja. We lift the siege of Thrace to relieve Dobrudja and re-establish a supply line.

1516 Jan
259d. 12000 Turks besiege Dobrudja. The Turk is recruiting in Macedonia.
We are besieging Moldavia (walls –4, 6 months), Bujak (walls 0, 9 months), and Rumelia (walls +4, 12 months).
We recruit 7000 Hussaria in Bessarabia, and 8000 infantry + 10 guns in Krementjug.
CtD!

Reload January save. Turkey offers a white peace.

1516 Feb.
8000 men arrive in Dobrudja to lift its siege of 11000 Turks. Reinforced with 2x5000 men, only 3500 find their way back to Moldavia. Ostogsky in Rumelia has 8000 men, and is attacked by 12000 Turks. Bulgarias 6000 men are attacked by 5000 Turks.

1516 Mar
Ostrogski Wins, and the Bulgarian army retreats to Rumelia.

1516 Apr
Ostrogski is again under attack, and again he is victorious.
We storm the town of Bujak, but in vain. Our men are thrown back with heavy losses, but kill about a 1000 defenders. Most mourned victim on our side must be Glinsky.

1516 Jun
Moldavia is liberated from the infidel! But alas, Austria now controls it! All our efforts for those pretty dressed uniforms!

1616 Jul
The troops of Zaslawski march from Moldavia to the rescue of Dobrudja.
Dobrudja falls to Turkey.

1516 Aug
The peasants of Lithuania revolt! We have troops in Memel who have a great expertise in suppressing revolts.
Ostrogski is attacked by the victorious Turkish troops from Dobrudja, and wins again. He is now down to 9600 men.
All new recruits are now at full morale and sent abroad to replenish losses suffered. Moldavia still seems to be Turkish, and controlled by Austria’s Ferdinand. No longer any business here, all troops leave for Rumelia.

1516 Sep
Turkey assembles 24000 men in Thrace, and 7000 in Bulgaria. Bujak falls, and Turkey offers this province in exchange for peace. Tempting, but we decline.
The rebel scum in Lithuania is defeated.

1516 Oct
This month brings another victory over 3000 raw recruits from this province.

1516 Nov
Another victory in Rumelia.
We recapture Dobrudja.

1516 Dec
This again frees troops to reinforce the siege of Rumelia.
(I find it very irritating that I seem unable to select the commander when several corpses are present in a besieged province. Any ideas anyone?)
The King promotes me to count.

1517 Jan
257d. First of all, an inspection shows we don’t have a trade monopoly anywhere, so we dispatch 2 entrepreneurs each to Novgorod, Thrace, and Curland.
With 4 yellow stars, I send a peace offer demanding 2 provinces and 250 gold. Alas, the Padisha refuses.
Time to recruit new troops: 7000 cavalry in Bessarabia, 8000 infantry in Podolia, and 10000 cavalry in Krementjuk.
The King throws a court party for keeping Ingermanland. This intention is renewed for the next 5 years.
The royal marriage with Bohemia expires. We suggest a new marriage of a pretty polish duchess with a Bohemian duke, and this proposal is accepted. Very good, as it is one of the last half important state we have a somewhat decent relation with.
Ostrogski still besieges Rumelia with 17000 men. 4600 men defend Dobrudja, and 8400 men defend Bujak.
We split the latter force, and send half of them to Moldavia.
The knight declare war on England. Sometimes one wonders where the common sense of people has remained. The knights have vowed to combat the infidel, and there is currently just one nation bearing this burden. They could have helped me!
Perhaps they did have some justifiable cause, as Parma and Genoa join the Knights.

1517 Feb
20000 Turks can already be seen assembling in Thrace and Bulgaria. Our troops arrive in Moldavia again. Rumelia’s walls have weakened to –4, still 6 months to go.
7000 Turks attack us in Moldavia, and our troops are about to retreat, when Austrians under Ferdinand turn the tide.
Turkey offers Bujak and Dobrudja for peace. Very reasonable, but we decline. We want Rumelia with its naval supplies too.

The Turks who were defeated in Moldavia, now besiege Galicia.

1517 April
The peasants in Krakow revolt. We send 5000 men from Bujak to Galicia.
The new recruits report themselves ready, but still have a very weak morale.

1517 May
From Galicia the Turks march on to Podlasia. It looks like the walls of Rumelia still can hold out 6 months. Narew, underway from Memel to Krakow, is sent to Lithuania instead and intercepts the force of 6000 Turks. He can not bring them to a good battle, and they flee further to the north. Narew heads for Belarus

Narew gambled wrong, the Turks besiege Kurland. Narew in pursuit. The new troops move to suppress the peasant revolt (8000 cavalry) and south to assist in Rumelia.

1517 Jul
Narew defeats them in Kurland, they retreat east and Narew gambles for Belarus.

1517 Aug
Disaster strikes Zaslawski with his 8000 cavalry against the peasants in Krakow – only a few hundred flee the field of disgrace. The king orders his court martial. I fully support this.
Narew arrives in Belarus in advance of the Turks, so they presumably head for Polots.
6800 of our famous cavalry camp before Thrace.

1517 Sep
Narew defeats the Turks at Polotsk and pursuits them to Welikia.

1517 Oct
Narew drives them back from Welikia to Polotsk, where he defeats them again in November.

From Thrace we move to Bulgaria.

1517 Dec
We loose Krakow to the rebels.

1518 Jan
207d. Our forces in Bulgaria, 7000 men strong, are under attack from 6000 fresh troops trained locally. Unbelievably, they loose, suffering over 3000 casualties. We send Ostrogski to Bulgaria, as the losers retreat on Rumelia.

Glinsky’s force is split, half of them marches to wealthy Anatolia.

1518 Sep
We send another peace offer, this time we ask just 3 provinces, which the Padisha also refuses.
Gllisky arrives is Anatolia and besieges the city. New Turkish recruits are being trained there.

1518 Nov
Glinsky defeats 8000 Turkish raw recruits in Anatolia, but at a fearful cost: against 2000 Turkish casualties we number 4000.
We send another peace offer of 3 provinces (Bujak, Dobrudja and Rumelia) and again the ruler of all Turks refuses the offer.
Glinsky must retreat from Anatolia to Thrace, the former Osman capitol.

1518 Dec
We capture Macedonia. Again we ask only Bujak, Dobrudja and Rumelia for peace, and again the Padisha refuses our generous offer.

1519 Jan
From Macedonia we move further south to Hellas. How can I plunder a province?
I raise 15000 new troops in the southern provinces.
Persia declares war on Iraq, and Spain joins Persia.

1519 Feb
The peasants in Bessarabia revolt. The Mameluks join Iraq in their war against Persia and Spain.

1519 Mar
The newly trained troops In Bessarabia loose from the farmers. Worse, just 4400 out of 8000 survive the encounter. His majesty proclaims the death penalty for revolting peasants!
5000 Turks out of nowhere attacked our Hellas army, but got defeated.

1519 Apr
6000 Turks, fully trained, appear in Thrace.
Austria receives Istria and Moldavia in return for peace. Grrrr! Moldavia was our ally!

1519 May
Again Glinksy is victorious in Thrace, but for how long? Again Turkey declines our very reasonable peace offer.

1519 Jun
We concentrate all new troops in Podolia, to train them together to relieve Bessarabia.

1519 Aug
The new troops march on Bessarabia. On the Turkish frontier, all troops seem to be exhausted. In September we relive Bessarabia, and march to the undefended Hellas.

1519 Oct
8000 Turkish janissary assault Glinsky’s 6700 in Thrace. Glinsky triumphs again.

1520 Jan

The revolt in East Prussia is crushed merciless. So is rebels scum besieging Kurland. We capture Hellas!

1520 Jun
We can now promote legal councels to chief judges. We engage in combat in Albania, which is defended by 3000 Infantry. Our 9000 men strong force suffers 2700 casualties but is victorious. Albania is under siege!

1520 Sep
21000 peasants revolt in Kurland. The local army numbers just 4000 muskets. Searching for the cause I find that the northern provinces have turned protestant. This Kingdom becomes hard to manage with 4 religions.
The government policy changes towards a half hearted tolerance of everyone. We lose the battle and withdraw. The Tula army, meant as a safeguard against Russian aggression, is sent to deal with the problem. The protestant rebels march on east Prussia.
3000 Turks attack us in Hellas, later reinforced by 3000 more. We win, and Turkey offers Bujak for peace. The Turkish diplomat is laughed away at court.

1520 Nov
We advance on Morea in the south. Albania will probably fall within a few months.

1521 Jan
197d after sending several merchants to regain monopolies.
We raise new recruits in Bessarabia and Krementjug.
In Anatolia and Smyrna, we can see the Turk having 3 armies, 35000, 18000 and 13000. Opposing them is good old Glinsky in Thrace with 19000. We sent 7000 musketeers from Bulgaria as reinforcements. From Hellas we march 7000 cavalry to the Cyclades.
Indeed 33000 Turks assault Glinsky. Turkish morale is very strong, as always, and our just strong. The 7000 men from Bulgaria arrive, but can not turn the tide, and Glinsky suffers defeat. Thrace under siege by the Turks.

1521 Feb
35000 Turks appear out of nowhere in Hellas and lay siege to the city.
Again our peace offer of the 3 well known provinces is rejected. We siege Morea, Albania and Cyclades.

1521 Mar
The Cyclades are under attack by 3000 Turks. We win. The Padisha offers Bujak, Dobrudja and Hellas for peace. Tired, and with chances slowly growing against us, we agree.

Courland, West Prussia and Krakow are still in revolt. Troops are send to retake Krakow.

1523 Mar
Our generals discover a new weapon, pistols. I have the suspicion they stole this invention from our neighbours, who long used this weapon against us.
We recapture Kurland.

1523 Apr
The peasants in Krementjug revolt. 10000 of our brave soldiers under Korzow enter the battle, but only 3300 live the next day. Krakow is retaken, and this army is ordered to join the survivors of the Krementjug disaster.

The peasants in Dobrudja revolt, Glinsky wins, and may now lay siege to the city???

1524 Jan
254d. Hessen becomes protestant. We return to Krementjug!

1524 Feb
We defeat the Krementjug rebels. Ridiculous, all our plans are ruined by these rebellions. Dobrudja, Krementjug, and Western Prussia are under siege of our own forces. Memel is under siege of rebels.

1532 Jan

1533 Jan

1534
317d. Another 2 chief judges are promoted. We recruit 11000 infantry in Krementjug.
France invites us to an alliance together with Scotland, Helvetia and Savoy. As we are completely isolated, we accept.
The unexpected death of Glinsky makes the entire court mourn. His victories are to numerous to remember. May that young officer, Tarnowski be as successful as Glinsky has been.
Bujak revolts, and the revolt is bloodily surpressed. Examining the cause we find that Moldovia has rebelled against Austria. The emperor besieges the town, but with too few people to have any hope of success. This way is keeps inciting revolt in the neighbouring countries.

Podolia revolts, Siedice is sent with 18000 men to kill off 16000 farmers. He looses, so we sent Tarnowski up from Dobrudja. Siedice should be beheaded, he has lost over half his army, and has just 6000 left.

1537
420d. 3 promotions this year, and the program approaches completion. The 5 year annual court party is held for keeping Ingermanland. Everyone at court guessed the Kings new intentions for the next 5 years and everyone was right!

Thrace, 5m, 15d
Mascate, 3m, 9d
Isfahan, 1m, 10d
I am promoted to regent.
Expanding our trade at Isfahan costs us a small fortune. Still I consider it worthwhile, and we even gain a monopoly in this Persian town.
Austria declares war on Bohemia. Soon Hungary, Wurtemberg and Bavaria follow Austria´s example. We send a vehement protest to the Austrian capital, as we can find no justification for the behaviour.
Bohemia´s army numbers just 12000 muskets, and is simply no game for Austria´s armies: 67000 men, soon reinforced with 15000 allies. In December, the pitiful remains of 2000 men defend the Bohemian capital. The other provinces are under siege, with the largest army storming the Silesian capital Breslau.

The aim for the forseeable future: expand economy further, catch up on land tech, and find a war. France can usually be trusted to go to war, if not, we will create a war ourselves.

We send 4 additional merchants to Andalusia, without much luck.

The Doge of Venice suffers from an attack of insanity and declares war on Austria. Fortune is on his side as Milan, Hanseatic league, and Baden join him. Of course Austria´s old ally Hungary is loyal. So are the Papal States and Wurtemberg. Hellas revolts, and the army is annihilated.

In November disaster strikes as due to poor government policies, our stability drops by 1 and half our investments in trade and infrastructure are lost. Ahhhh! My trade level was nearly 5! Now it will take another 16 years!

1551
456d. The customary 5 loans of 30d for 300 months go to France. Relation with Spain up to -23, another 2 or 3 years and we start loaning to them. France repays 5 loans of 30,a nd we loan them again for 300 months.

Venice and Papal States sign a status quo peace. Venice pays 168 to Wurtemberg for peace.
Baden signs a white peace with the Austrian alliance.
Our admirals proudly report that we now have metal cannon balls. I wonder what our previous metal balls were cast of. Wood, perhaps? Or grain?

1552
628d. The relation with Spain is up to –17. Still 3 years, it seems. The 5 year court party for the keeping of Ingermanland was the most boring in many years. Actually we had to force some guests to come.
A letter of introduction to the Spanish monarch for one of our youngest diplomats works well, the relation with Spain jumps to +4. OK, loans! We pump him up with 5 loans of 40, for 300 months. To my surprise, they do not accept a 6th.

France repays a lot of loans.

1554
432d. Again we try to pump Spain with loans. But to my surprise they refuse! Checking the relation, it has dropped to +2. Why? I cann’t be because of the loans to France, their mutual relation is at +2. It turns out the credit level has dropped from 40 to 30. Another 5 loans to France deplete our cash.
Due to received interest, we built a ship in Bessarabia. We will continue to build the ships over the next few years.

1555
304d. Hessen changes to reformed. 5 loans to France, and 5 to Spain. Spain repays some of its earlier loans.

Suddenly entire western Europe erupts in Flames. England declares war on her enemy Scotland, joined by Brandenburg, Prussia, Saxony, Hessen and Navarra.

1557
906d. No loans again, the monarch is not fit to sign them. France and Spain repay loans, which we feed back to them. The usual 5 year party for holding the “strategic” province in Ingermanland is held. To ensure visitors, I must confess I had rumors spread about the Kings daughter. Scandalous ones. Let us not go into detail.

To be able to have guests at the 5 yearly party for the keeping of Ingermanland, we had the rumour spread that Felicia, our princess from Spain, would belly dance as she learned this art from the group we donated to the Tsar. It worked, 5 male nobles turned up, but as they left their disgusted ladies at home, the party was not a big success.

Spain repays some loans, but rejects new loan proposals, even at 10d, while our relation is at +12. Russia accepts our proposal for a royal marriage.
Our hope is still that France, usually a likely country to go to war, will drag us into one, at no cost to our stability. Else we will vassilize Russia.
At the end of the year France repays loans.

1563.
New traders to Anglia, the trade center has developed into a value of 200. Loans of 20 and 10 to Scotland, which is still at war with England.

1564
971d. Another personal gift moderately improves the relation with Russia, -80. Troops are ordered to Western Prussia and Danzig. Stability is finally back up to +3.
Parma accepts peace with Spain, the latter ceding Rousiilion.

1564, Jul
The Hanseatic League.
I strongly feel that Polands native provinces are economically to low to win the game. For decades I have hoped that France would dare to go to war. Looking around, I see the Hanseatic League as the most profitable victim. It’s provinces are a whole lot richer than our native provinces, and we have a CB so we can declare war without stability penalty.
After the DoW our ambassadors ask Helvetia and France to participate. Helvetia dishonors her word, but France wants a piece of the cake. Venice comes to the aid of the League.

1564 Aug
Sigismund II marches with 60000 men to eastern Pommerania, and clashes with 38500 men of the League. Even Sigismunds talents and a majority in troops are not enough to offset our old weapons. Western Prussia becomes under siege of the League. Stadnicki and Godoek march into Eastern Pommerania from Danzig.

1565 Jan
393d. Scotland becomes reformed. Persia declares war on Iraq, joined by Spain. The Mammeluks rush to Iraq’s support. We start the siege of Western Pommerania.

1565 Feb
5000 men fall in a premature attempt to storm the walls of Eastern Pommerania.

1565 Mar
Western Prussia falls.

1565 Apr
The Hanseatic League starts to besiege Danzig.
Persia pays 39d to Iraq for peace.

1565 May
11000 Germans defeat a cavalry army of 18000 men in Posen. Posen is besieged.
Sigismund defeats 8000 raw recruits as he enters Western Pommerania.

1565 Jun
Venice attacks in Hellas, We score an easy victory.

1565 Jul
Our trade level advances to High Baroque. Sigismund marches back to relief Danzig, as both our armies in Germany are out of supply. On his way he picks up part of the army in Eastern Pommerania as reinforcements.

1565 Aug
The Hellas fleet puts to see, and engage a Venetian ship (7:1).

1565 Sep
Our 7 ships lose from the single Venetian ship.

1565 Oct
Sigismunds 23000 loose out from 15000 Germans. We start to siege our own Western Prussia. French troops land in the west of the Hanseatic League.

1565 Nov
French troops besiege Mecklenburg.

1565 Dec
14000 more French land in Hanseatic League, and besiege Bremen. We besiege Eastern Pommerania again.

1566 Jan
338d. Council of Trent. We have Sigismund march to Western Pommerania.

1566 Mar
The French troops seem to leave the Hanze.
Back to Danzig. The German army has just 4000 men left.

1566 Apr
We start to besiege Western Pommerania. Sigismund is in command. French movements remain mysterious, now 14000 French can be seen marching east.

1566 May
Scotland makes peace with England, and receives the Marches. Scotland repays some small loans.
We send new recruits to fill the gaps in the ranks of our soldiers.

1566 Jul: we recapture Western Prussia.

1566 Aug: still no scratch in the walls of Kolberg. 45000 men besiege the town. We beat off a diversionary attack of the League on Western Pommerania.

1566 Sep-Dec: the walls of the besieged German towns are tough nuts. Kolberg remains unscratched, despite 38000 men and over 50 cannon do their utmost to defeat this town.

1567 Jan
344d. Genoa and Austria convert to counter reform Catholics. All ties are broken. 3000 Germans march on Western Prussia, and we sent Dylweski with 14000 infantry to relief the town.

1567 Feb.
Dylweski scores a victory in the woods of Prussia. The court party for keeping the strategic province of Ingermanland attracts no visitors at all, as everyone is concerned about the war.
Russia declares war on the golden horde. Denmark and Pskov join Russia.

1567 Mar
We capture western Pommerania. Eastern Pommerania remains a “challenge”. Ugh, in 1 year of sieging we have the walls down from +4 to +3.

1567 Jun: We start to siege Mecklenburg. The fools offer a white peace. No way!

1567 Aug: The walls of Kolberg are down to –1!
The golden horde pays money to Russia for peace.

1567 Nov: Mecklenburg is taken! They immediately send an old veteran soldier with a white flag, carrying a peace proposal offering us Western Pommerania. We send him back alive and he ought to be happy with that. Sigismund II reorganizes the army and marches boldly on Holstein. The walls of Kolberg slowly collapse.

1567 Dec: Sigismund is victorious, and starts to siege Holstein.

1568 Jan
469d. Raise new troops! And, after a very long siege, in which the sever winter took numerous casualties, Kolberg falls.

1568 Mar: Sigismund II surpasses his own leadership abilities by launching a major fortification upgrade in Kursk, at the other end of his realm.

1568 Apr: Holstein falls. It seems finally to dawn on their ruler that something must be done, or the situation might become serious. With only Bremen free, the Hanze offers 2 provinces for peace. No way, guys, you are gonna be annexed.

1568 Jun: our generals report that they now know how to fire metal bullets (land tech 7)
We start to march on the final province, Bremen. Sigismund II has 14000 men left, and 10000 strong Germans are awaiting him behind the river Elbe. The Germans are also recruiting heavily.

1568 Jul: Sigismund scores a glorious victory in battle, and certainly this victory will be cited in military academies for centuries to come as classic example of river crossing in the face of stout opposition.

1568 Sep: Ingermanland revolts. Venice makes peace with France by paying 135d.
Bremen falls. We annex the Hansiatic League. The league is no more. We offer Venice a white peace, which they refuse.

1569 Jan
To deal with Venice, we will have to bring pressure on them. The only way seems to build a fleet in the Med to bring troops to their homeland. A peasant revolt in Dobrudja is suppressed.
Ile de France is a growing trade center, and we expand our mercantile in France.
Spain has locked out our merchants. I would dearly love to fight Spain, even just for a chance for their sea maps. But our fleet is to weak, and they are too far off.
Peasants in Pripet revolt. They take control of the province, and now also the peasants in Podlava revolt.

1569 Jun: Venice attacks with 4000 men in Hellas, and are met by 20000 soldiers.
1569 Jul: the peasants from Pripet are besieging Galicia when our troops arrive in Pripet. On to Galicia!
1569 Aug: France declares war on Parma, and Helvetia joins in. Of course we accept their graciously warded invitation to prolong our series of peasant revolts. Genoa, Portugal and Tuscany join the war on the side of Parma. Helvetia joins us.
But first we have some business with Venice. Rhodos and Crete are close to Hellas, and Crete is worth a lot of trade.
1569 Oct: we butcher the last bunch of rebel scum.

1570:
387d. The Papal States change to counter reform Catholics.
Genoa makes peace with France, paying 54d. With a fleet of 11 ships we embark for Crete.
Jun: Sigismund II arrives in Bessarabia.
Jul: Sigismund II dies!
Aug: 5000 Venetians arrive in Mecklenburg while we land on the shores of Crete. Luckily, we have 19000 men left in the former Hanze area.
Sep: we win the battle for Mecklenburg, so Venice demands a ridiculous sum of 250 gold.
Dec: France declares war on Scotland, and asks us to honour the alliance. We do. Sigh.

1571
427d. Revolt in Mecklenburg, 27000 peasants are not happy with our government. Persia declares war on Iraq, joined by Spain. Mammeluks side with Iraq.
Parma is fully annexed by France.
May: We ship 9000 men to Corfu. We re-enter a royal marriage with France. Both France and Spain refuse loans.
The royal marriage with Spain expires and the refuse to renew it.
Jul: Iraq pays Persia 175d for peace.
Aug: Revolt in Poltava.
Our fleet of 12 ships engages in combat with 1 Venetian galley.
Sep: the peasants in Livinia revolt. Portugal demands 197d for peace. We decline, let France take care of Portugal. The Ionian Sea becomes a disaster, as a Venetian fleet of 4 ships makes short work of our fleet.
Oct: Mecklenburg revolts.
Nov: Holstein revolts, 67000 peasants! Will the winter kill them off?

1572
354d.
Jan: The Netherlands declare independent of Spain, and declare war on Spain. Cologne joins Spain in this war.
Feb: The five year court party for Ingermanland is held, and without guests, as we forget to send out invitations.
Mar: 8000 peasants butchered.
Apr: we recapture Mecklenburg, and march towards Holstein, where 23000 peasants are left after the winter.
Jun: we win battle against rebel scum in Holstein and Livonia.
Sep: Netherlands pay 92d to Cologne for peace. Holland goes to Cologne.
Oct: The siege of Crete has lost its pace. The walls are down to –3, and seem to stay at that level. We bring fresh reinforcements.

1573
400d. Western Pommerania revolts. Memel revolts.
Mar: Bremen revolts.
Apr: Portugal pays 120d to France for peace. Great, that’s one enemy less, and more important, one war less. We have just wars vs Scotland and Venice left. We win battles from rebel scum in Posen and Bremen.
Jun: Scotland offers peace for 250d. Venice offers a white peace. We decline both. We capture Crete.
Jul: Lithuania revolts. Venice refuses peace in exchange for Crete. So we have to take Corfu as well, sigh…
Aug: 20000 foot board ship in Bessarabia.
Sep: Mozyr revolts!
Oct: Mecklenburg revolts. Scotland offers peace in return for 18d. Tempting, as we would have one war less on our hands. But I suspect war weariness would not be less. Venice offers a white peace.
Dec: Smolensk revolts. This war against Venice and Scotland takes more casualties in revolts than in war victims.

1574
327d. Henryk Walezi is our new monarch. Venice offers a white peace, which we decline.
Every month new revolts break out. 3 in Jan, 3 in Feb, 1 in March.
I stop the planned invasion for Corfu to hold Hellas. 10000 men from Germany ship for Scotland. They arrive in August and besiege the Grampians. Bathory arrives and will rule our glorious nation.

1575
299d. Scotland pays 129d to France for peace. Kurland revolts again, 59000 peasants!
16 of our ships engage a single Venetian sol and flee in panic.
Scotland cedes the Grampians to England.
Discouraged, I accept a white peace offer from Venice. The country needs rest. The rest of the year is used to quell most of the revolts.

Good story, just the facts, nice flow. Love the Ingermanland parties! I would cede it by now just to see what else the monarch offers. Concern: you seem to be losing horrible amounts of men. Maybe a more balanced mix of infantry and cavalry in your armies would help, perhaps 2:1 or something like that? Also, I admire your resolve in fighting Venice, but it's going to take more than you have right now to grab anything from them. Try again in 100 years?

Time to rebuild and expand.

1576
520d. Batory ascends the throne. On of his first deeds is to invest an extra 1000 in the army. Time to pay attention to our trade positions. Especially Tago looks profitable. I suggest a royal marriage to Spain which they accept.

1577
965d.
More traders to tago, Anglia and Paris. A new reformation of the army.

1578
The Netherlands annex Cologne. The Hedjaz declare war on Persia.
The Netherlands accept peace with Spain on the condition that the Netherlands change religion.
We create royal ties with Baden and the Netherlands. The war between Persia and the Hedjaz ends with full annexation.

1579
Our lawyers have worked out a better way to govern the country. The operation is a major reform, which we start implementing right away. Everywhere majors start being promoted to governours.

1580.
380d. Zamojski is a new talented general rising through the ranks of our army. We spend it all on the government reform.
A revolt in Western Pommerania breaks out, and even Zamojski with looses a battle against them – and he held a 2:1majority.
Our admirals tell the can speed up the fleet development by building naval equipment factories. We promise them factories a few years after the present government reform.

1581
390d. Again we promote mayors.
Austria and Georgia declare war on Crimea. We move our troops to that area. A revolt in western Pommerania.

1582.
320d.
Jan: We declare war on Crimea. We reckon that with its troops engaging Georgia, we stand a good chance at annexing this nice country.
Feb: Crimea is under siege.
Mar: We start to siege Kaffa. We enter Azov and battle 10000 crimean foot. Crimea suggests a peace and politely asks for 250d in indemnities.
Apr: Crimea suggests a white peace. We capture their capital.
May: Navarra declares war on France. England follows suit. Hessen follows Englands example. Sweden joins the side of France and Helvetia. A herald from Hyderabad reports its ruler dares to dishonour our alliance. We have a CB against them. Now if we only knew where that area was….
We honour our alliance with France by declaring war on Navarra and England.
Jun: Parma declares itself independent of France, declares war on France, which give srise to another series of Europe wide wars. We enter Hannover, as the province seems to be undefended, but encounter a superior force of Hessian troops. We retreat on Mecklenburg.
Aug: Hessen follows us to Mecklenburg, and defeats us there.
Sep: Our military invent a new trick with arquebus.
Dec: Hessen takes Macklenburg.

1583:
314d. We offer hessen peace for 250d but the greeds deny our offer. In that case, our strategy must be to annex Crimea asap, and then turn everything against Hessen. I hope for support from France, or at least that they will keep England busy.
Kaffa, Azov, Kersch and Luganesk are all besieged by our armies. Georgia still holds, and is besieging Kouban.
Crimea offers a ridiculous white peace, Hessen defeated the rebels in western Pommerania. We capture Lugansk – on to Kalmuk, the last independent Crimean province.
Feb: Before it can leave, our army in Lugansk is attacked by 6000 crimeans.
Mar: we win the struggle for Lugansk, and capture Azov. The Azov army moves on to Kalmuk.
Jun: Western Pommarania is taken by Hessen. They attack us in Eastern Pommerania and beat us. We move our monarch to Kouban, to participate in its siege – and take the city when it falls. It turns out that the crimeans still have a large army in Georgia. We take a loan and raise new armies.
Jul: we capture Kouban. Criema pays 14d to Georgia for peace. On the west front, troops of our Swedish ally have arrived in Oldenburg.
Aug: Moving from Holstein to Mecklenburg, we attempt to retake it. Our defeated troops march back from Prussia to Eastern Pommerania.
Sep: the battle in eastern Pommerania is a near thing, but after a sever battle our troops make a strategic retreat. While this battle lasts, Bathory takes Kerch. I am not worried by the loss of the last battle in Pommerania. Our soldiers gave a good account of themselves. An with no reinforcements needed for the Crimean war next jan, we can move full force against Hessen.\
Oct: Hessen starts to besiege Bremen. We capture Kalmuk.
Persia declares war on Iraq, joined by Spain.
Nov: England attacks us in Hellas, we win. Revolting peasants trouble our army in Mecklenburg.
Dec: 67000 peasants in Holstein revolt! Navarra pays 250d to Helvetia for peace. The only province holding out in Crimea is Kaffa. It walls have been at –4 for months and months.

1584
285d.
Jan: We win a battle in eastern Pommerania.
I must make a decision: annex entire Crimea, as has been the outright goal of this campaign, or take a few provinces.
(I save the game and check my badboy rating. It has gone up to 12 again. Does refusing a peace offer make it go up? Looks like it. If I annex entire Crimea, my reputation will probably suffer. If I take just a few provinces, it may stay at this level.
As an experiment, I play on, capture Kaffa, annex Crimea, and see my badboy rating jump to 19. The consequenties are clear: Prussia declares war on me, and invade Posen with 50000 men. Astrakahan and Golden Horde follow next month. As France makes peace in the west, solving the Hessian problem, Sweden declares war and captures Ingermanland, Livonia and Estonia. Prussia is unstoppable, as numerous revolts develop tearing the country apart. When I hand the Swedes Ingermanland for peace, Persia comes to the aid of Astrakahan. Bohemia and Austria declare war, followed by a number of smaller States. Meanwhile, the entire country revolts due to war-weariness.
The other alternative is accepting a peace offer from Astrakahan.
Feb: We are victorious over a large Hessian army in Eastern Pommerania. The flee west where we pursue them. Crimea offers Kouban, Azow and Kerch, just what I want, except Kaffa, which has to wait for another war. Surpriuse, my badboy rating still jumps to 15!
With some time to spare, I notice that Russia has spent its time well: It has annexed entire Denmark. New troops are raised.
Feb: We start the siege of Western Pommerania.
Mar: Kouban, one of the new provinces, and Tula revolt. Iraq pays Persia 53d for peace. We defeat the Kouban rebels, but those in Tula may live till spring.
Apr: Kurland revolts. 50000 peasants form a huge army….
May: Hessen offers peace for 2 provinces and all cash. Parma asks just 12d for peace. We decline their offer, as it is up to France to make peace with them. We retake Mecklenburg from Hessen.
Jun: Lithuania revolts.
Jul: Krementjug and Galicia revolt! In Kremetjug, 12000 farmers chase 25000 regulars out of the country. Lithuania falls in rebel hands. Parma offers peace for 8d, and we accept.
The rebels from Lithaunia march on to Mazovia, where we assembled this years recruits.
Aug: Tula falls to the rebels, and Bremen to Hessen. We defeat the rebels as they cross the river, and with their armies scattered, we enter Lithuania and lay siege to its rebel controlled capital.
20000 Hessians and 10000 English march on Mecklenburg. 22000 Swedish allies can be seen marching south through Ingermanland, Estonia and Livonia. Will they head for the rebels in Tula, or for the Hessians and British in the west?
Sep: The English start the siege of Mecklenburg.
Oct: Navarra pays 202 in indemnities to France and makes peace! Hurrah!
Nov: Azov revolts. These new provinces take a long time before nationalism is dead. From Mecklenburg, we advance to Holstein, which is still rebel controlled. In Azov the rebels send a small army fleeing in panic, and just when reinforcements also threaten to be mauled, the third army corps arrives and turns the tide of the battle. The Krementjug army returns to Krementjug and defeats the rebels.
Dec: Kurland revolts again. The peasant army had dwindled down to 25000, but now swells to 38000 again. The revolting peasants from Tula lay siege to Welikia.
We recapture Holstein by storming the walls. The peasants in Holstein prompt revolt again, and Iszkrisky slaughters 14000 of them.

1585 342d.
Kurland, Tula, Lithuania, Welikia and Galicia are the remaining trouble spots.
We send the Danzig army to Galicia, and they cut down the 14000 rebels besieging the loyal citizens.
England declares war on Scotland, and seems to be very popular among the small German states, as Brandenburg, Hessen, Prussia and Navarra follow the English example.
In June Azow revolts, followed in Jul by Krakow and Kurland. Bathory dies as he kills of 12000 peasants in Azow. In Aug Azow revolts again, and without Bathory the army flees to Kerch, where we raise 3000 new infantry.
Sep: Belarus revolts. We defeat the rebels in Kurland, but they immediately revolt again. 59000 peasants rise, but are butchered by 45000 of our men, who loose 1/3 themselves. The Dvina turns red with blood.
The army marches on to Belarus, where they slaughter another 19000 rebels. From here they march on Lithuania.

1586 342d. (again)
Trouble spots left: Tula (besieged), Krakow, and Azow.
We raise new troops, which are really needed. Tula is retaken in Februari, and in March the rebels besieging Krakow are scattered.
Azow revolts again in May, and again the defeat our army. They sure must have smart leaders! Or is our armament that antique?
In Sep Holstein revolts, and Krakow also revolts again. The peasants in Krakow are scattered by the army still present from the previous rebellion, but Holstein is a different matter. 57000 peasants besiege the town, and make good progress to demolish the walls. Not wanting to wait any longer for reinforcements, we sent 24000 men into the fray, but they arrive too late, and must besiege the town.

1587 401d. (mainly due to France paying of a loan)
We besiege Holstein and Lithuania. Zygmunt III Wasa ascends the Polish throne. Zamosjki is ordered to Azow. Szoon we recapture Lithuania.
Making a quick survey, revolt risk is 3% in our newly acquired Crimean provinces, and 4% in the former Hanze provinces. The roman Catholic provinces have a revolt risk of 1%.
The current stability is at +1. We triple our investments in stability, and predictions for the date of our next level is shifted to May 1588.
The returning army crushes the rebellion in Azow.

There is no court party for keeping Ingermanland this year: The wrath of the King descends on the entire nobility as we failed to vasallize Baden. Lithuania revolts, but the revolt is soon surpressed. The King also expresses a wish to see his younger son marry with a princess of Savoy, a wish we can soon make come true.
The royal marriage with Russia expires, and they refuse to renew it.
The army retakes Holstein, and we improve the fortress to level 2.
In August Azow revolts again, but again the revolt is crushed.
Twice we send the Tsar of all Russians a letter of introduction, but to virtually no result. (-157).

1588 334d.
The Netherlands change there religion to reformed. All our alliances with them are broken.
There are extensive discussions at the court about the national religion, and the tolerance towards other religions. At this moment Poland is a Catholic nation, and all religions enjoy the same level of tolerance (Catholic, protestant, orthodox, muslim). Many nobles wish us to change into counter reformed catholic. It would give us better chances to convert other religions. But our income would decrease.
In the end we decide to change.
In June Holstein revolts again, 59000 rebels. The revolt is crushed, but at a fearsome cost: over 10000 of our brave soldiers die in the battle.
The rest of the year we invest money in attempts to increase our trade revenues at the trade centers – in vain.

1589. 304d.
The loss of income really hurts.
Holstein revolts again with 63000 peasants. Our army flees in panic! Only 3000 out of 20000 arrive in Mecklenburg.

1590. 419d.
A new trade center opens in Holland. The admirals report they can now build astrolab.
We liberate Holstein. Our merchants are among the first to run in, and establish a monopoly.
Of course Azow revolts again, and is surpressed. Our trade level advances to level 6.
At the end of the year, England annexes entire Scotland.

1591. 540d.
Saving money for ship equipment factories. This means that all of Europe is at peace, save for a sleeping war between Turkey and Wurtemberg. Wurtemberg is the formal holder of Ilyria, which has been occupied and controlled by Turkey for decades.
We build some more troops in Bremen and Azow.

1592 632d.
There is a double party at the court because of the royal marriage with Savoy and the keeping of Ingermanland. Disaster! Oh shame! The cook had prepared for about 5 guests, as has been customary for the past few decades. But with the current peace in Europe, not only does the Polish nobility turn up, half of them brought their foreign relations with them. The other half of Europe gossips about this failed party...
The generals report that they have, entirely on their own, discovered the secret of arquebussiers (9). I ask if they could not better have hired a band of mercenaries from our neighbours. ;)
The only trouble is that while we proclaim that keeping Ingermanland is our national goal, the King declares that an alliance with far and small Baden is absolutely necessary. Sire, they have no army. They have no money. We are not adjacent, we can not annex them. Gr…..

Alva,
yes, venice is on my shortlist again when i have improved my naval rating. Nice country, nice people. And the province is rich, very rich, which i need. (always, but especially when playing Poland/Russia).
And I suppose my armies are very mixed, usually 4000 foot, 4000 horse, 10 guns, or likely amounts. In times of prolongued war I tend to shift the balance to more infantry.
I suppose the horrible losses are due to my low land tech - I currently have 8, while the rest seems to have around 11.

3rd French English war.

The third English - French war

Though I call this the 3rd war between these two countries, I might be in err on this. But I know for certain that they struggled before.

1593. 870d.
The first naval equipment factory is built in Danzig. France repays 150 in loans.
May: France asks us to honour our alliance with them and declare war on England. Of course we accept! We immediately start the building of a fleet - else our contribution would be merely symbolic.
Prussia declares war on the side of England, and so do Hessen, Brandenburg, and Navarra. Helvetia, Iroquois and Hyderabad declare loyal to France.
Perhaps, perhaps, I should not have those fleets ordered.
Prussia marches on Posen and besieges it. The Prussian army numbers 38000 foot, and 80 cannons. They do not waste any time and storm the walls after a short barrage.
Brandenburg besieges Easter Pommerania. I take out a bank loan of 200 and build new troops in the south. In the west, we march on Oldenburg and besiege it. In the east, we march on the Prussian capital.
Jul: After Posen goes down in the first Prussian attack, they march on to our capital Mazovia.
Aug: Prussia besieges Mazovia.
Sep: Kerch revolts. Leaving a besieging garrison at Oldenburg, we march on and besiege Munster.
Oct: New Hessian recruits attack our army in Munster, but are defeated. Our capital falls into Prussian hands and is looted. The Hessians storm the walls of Kolberg, but the citizens repel this attack.
Sigismund III arrives with 12000 men from Hellas in Bessarabia, and is ordered to Galicia, to pick up 16000 new recruits. 52000 Hessians and Brandenburg are camping outside the walls of Kolberg.
Marching from Munster we arrive in Hessen.
Dec: Brandenburg takes eastern Pommerania, and for supply reasons we return to siege Munster instead of Hessen. Prussia besieges Danzig. Despite the winter, Sigismund decides to relieve Danzig.
At Christmas, East Prussia surrenders to our armies. Hessen besieges west Prussia.

1594. 315d.
Brandenburg besieges Western Pommerania with over 20000 men lead by Johann Georg. They take the town it at their first attempt to storm the walls. The Prussians march back to their capital, lifting the siege of Danzig. 16000 Prussian foot and 80 guns against 7000 foot, 14000 cavalry and 40 guns. The battle goes against us, so we retreat to our own capital.
Feb: The Prussians storm the walls of their own capital, and retake it.
Mar: Hessen besieges Krakow. In Mazovia, the Prussian army, still 16000 foot and 80 guns, assault our main army, 34000 men and 80 guns, under Sigismund III. This time the Prussians retreat in disorder, and we advance to their capital. In Krakow, 11000 Hessians fail in their attempt to storm the walls. Alas, 46000 Brandenburgers are on their way.
Jul: Over 46000 Hessians and Brandenburgers now besiege Krakow, and 13000 more are marching through Brandenburg. At the end of the month, Krakow falls.
Aug: We conquer Oldenburg from England. Now on to Hessen! But Hessians start to besiege Mecklenburg. And the combined force of 46000 Hessians and Brandenburgers attacks our army of recruits in Galicia.
Disaster: Due to poor government policies half of the current investments in stability and infrastructure are lost. Especially infrastructure is a pity, as the new date is 1625 instead of 1598.
We retreat from Galicia with 4000 casualties to Podlasia. Again the Hessians decide to storm the town, as the walls crumble rapidly to 1.
Oct: Spain, Papal States, Genoa, Austria and we change from counter reformed catholic to catholic as the edict of tolerance is signed. The effects of the treaty of Tordesillas have been cancelled.
Hessen attacks our army in their native province of Munster, but is defeated.
Nov: Mazovia and Lithuania revolts. Luck strikes us as Brandenburgers just enter the latter province and quell the rebellion for us.

1595. 253d.
By accident the King chooses the conquest of Novgorod as his next target. Among the papers to sign, we slip in a document to keep Ingermanland.

During this year, the balance slowly slides in our favour. The greatest defeat is on the political front, as Brandenburg offers peace for Mecklenburg. They hold some 5 provinces, and as we decline our stability drops to -1. By bringing both leaders to the west, we regain the initiative. Slowly, the provinces of Galicia, Posen, Krakow and Western Prussia come under our siege. They do retake Prussia. We take Munster, and start to siege Hessen itself. This level 5 fortress will turn our to be a tough nut.

1596
Again Brandenburg offers peace for 1 province, and again our stability plummets 1 point. Revolts erupt all over the country.
Mecklenburg is retaken, and we siege Prussia, Magdeburg, Hessen and Kustrin. In a very smart move, the Brandenburgers decide to siege western Pommerania, which is held by rebels.
In November, we agree on a white peace with Prussia. That frees 10000 of our men, which are sourly needed to repress revolts.
At the end of the year, we capture Hessen. Hessen offers peace in exchange for Munster. We gladly accept.
(and, worried by recent lessons, I save and check - badboy rating is still 13).

1597
197d. Stability -2. Revolts in 13 provinces.
Oldenburg is conquered but besieged by 11000 English troops. Pommerania either occupied or besieged by Brandenburgers. The Brandenburger provinces of Magdeburg and Kustrin are besieged or will soon be besieged by us.
In the west, I viewed numerous English troops on French soil. The French seem to have cleared most of their homeland of English troops. The situation is different on the English isle, as the French had conquered several provinces in a previous war, which they have now either lost or nearly lost. On closer inspection, France has conquered entire Ireland.

Jan: We offer England a separate white peace which they decline. They offer us a white peace, presumably as leader of the alliance, which we decline. Bujak falls to rebelling peasants.
Feb: Sigismund III with 7000 foot, 6000 horse engages 6000 English troops in Oldenburg, and England again offers a white peace, which we decline. We come out bad and retreat to Bremen. English morale is very strong.
In Magdeburg we loose a battle against the returning Georg, who just captured western Pommerania. The English besiege Mecklenburg.
Apr: Holstein declares itself independent! The independence of Holstein can, alas, not be compensated by any gains we can make from Brandenburg this war. Also, because it is now independent, we would have to annex it to retake it, which we can not do without pushing our badboy rating over 15.
France makes peace with England, Ulster and Meath go to France. We too offer England a white peace, but they refuse. However, Brandenburg accepts our white peace offer.
May: Bremen attacks us in Holstein. France invites us for a new military alliance, for the moment we decline as we have enough to settle with both England, Holstein and numerous rebellions. We deal them a sever blow on the battle field and march to Holstein itself.
Jun: before the gates of the town we overtake the demoralized Holsteiner army and defeat the remainder of their national pride.
Jul: 3000 British attack the core of the Polish army in estern Pommerania under Sigismund III, and not a single man escapes.
Aug: England offers peace for 24d. We decline.
Sep: Podolia revolts. Sigismund marches on Oldenburg and defeats 3000 British foot. Again we siege this town.
Oct: Britain attacks again with a minor force, same result.
Nov: Aragon pays 163d for peace with Spain. Walls of Oldenburg already down to -1.
Dec: we loose Podolia to rebels.

1598. 187d. Stability 0.
Jan: we continue the siege of independent Holstein, Oldenburg(British) and Western Pommerania & Krementjug (rebels). 6000 British troops seem to march on Mecklenburg.
Feb: we recapture Krementjug from rebels. We capture Oldenburg and march to Hannover.
Mar: Livonia revolts. We arrive in Hannover.
Apr: Sigismund scores another victory over 6000 English recruits in Hannover.
May: 30000 peasants revolt in Mecklenburg. Good thing, they now fight 4000 British. Curland also revolts, alas.
France invites us again into a military alliance, alas we can not afford it, unless they declare war on England. But the only war they are in is with Prussia, and I am seeking to end conflicts with some territorial gain.
Jun: Mozyr revolts. Saxony and Bohemia are in a war vs Austria and England.
Jul: We finally retake western Pommerania.
Sep: Lithuania revolts. I have 3 armies repressing revolts, 1 besieging Holstein and 1 in the real war vs England. Hannover surrenders! We offer peace in exchange for Hannover, but England refuses.
Oct: England offer peace and Hannover. We gladly accept!
For some reason, this raises our badboy rating 1 point. We offer a white peace to Holstein, but with their walls ripe for storming the dogs refuse our offer. We defeat rebels in Mozyr, but Curland declares itself independent, together with Memel, and declares war on us.
Nov: France takes Prussia by storm and annexes it. Kurland troops engage the rebels in Lithuania.
Dec: we defeat rebels in Podlasia.

1599 204d.
Jan: Krementjug and Kerch revolt. 13 provinces are in a state of revolt.
Feb: We defeat 6000 Kurlanders in Lithuania.
Mar: Podlasia revolts again.
Apr: Lithuania revolts. But we recapture Mecklenburg.
Jun: Mecklenburg revolts again.
Jul: Belgorod is freed from rebels scum. Holstein defies our national pride. The walls have been at -6 (will fall any day now) for over 6 months. They demand 54d for peace.
Aug: Holstein finally surrenders.Bohemia pays over 200 gold to tiny Hessen for peace.
We offer peace to Holstein for 250 gold, which they gladly accept.
Sep: Mecklenburg revolts again.
Oct: Bessarabia revolts.
Nov: 15000 of our regulars loose out against 11000 farmers.

1600. 211d. Stability nearly back at +1.
We succeeded in keeping Ingermanland, but failed to conquer Novgorod. No party, boys.
Recapture of our capital. Next missions: He, no keeping of Ingermanland??? What's this, noble King??? Just impossible missions to choose from. We choose "Vazilize Baden" and as we agree this, the King adds "keep Ingermanland".
Recapture of Mazovia.
Feb: we break the rebel sieges of Lithuania and Poslasia.
Mar: rebels capture Livonia.
Apr: The Teutonic Order declares itself independent in Livonia.
Abroad, Persia, joined by Portugal declares war on Iraq, joined by Nubia. Krementjug recaptured.
May: The Livonia army, 13000 strong, marches on 11000 rebels besieging Poltasia, but retreats in disorder.
Jul: 17000 men in Podolia defeat 16000 farmers besieging the city in that province.
Aug: we capture Curland, the rebels offer a white peace, which we decline.
Oct: Mecklenburg revolts. We liberate Poltavia of rebel scum. All troops from this area to Mecklenburg! We besiege Memel, and decline a white peace offer of Curland.
Nov: A new wave of protest strikes as the peasant army swells to 50000.

1601. 232d.
New recruits will be trained in Mazovia, western Prussia and Easters Pommerania.
Feb: western Pommerania revolts, and we defeat the 9000 rebels but still have another province to besiege.
Apr: Mecklenburg revolts again, the winter had eroded the peasant army but now its is up to 3000 again.
May: we capture Memel and Curland offers peace in exchange for Memel. We gladly accept…. The royal marriage with Spain expires, but the reject our new offer.
Jun: We activate our fleet, but find that it is too small to transport the entire Memel army back to the main part of the country.
We also suggest a white peace to the Teutonics, and they accept.

I suppose this is a typical Polish problem. We have won the war as far as the military side is concerned. All our opponents, Prussia, Brandenburg, Hannover, Hessen and England have been beaten. However, politically and economically the war ended in disaster. We gained
Hannover (29/9) and Munster (24/9), but lost control of Holstein (83/5), Curland (24/1), and Livonia (21/1). In addition to the loss of income, we also loose the extra traders we got through owning Holstein and Curland.

Interesting you mention this, sgt.

Fighting Russia is not high on my wishlist, as most provinces seem rather low in production and income. The German provinces seem to be more promising in this respect.
But I did start, as an interruption, a GC Russia, just to see what things looks like through Russian eyes.

Originally my intention was to head south east through Persia to India and its riches. But a prolongued high badboy rating, together with numerous other concerns, prevented this till now.

btw, playing as Russia I cannot recruit in all provinceds at once. What is the logic behind this?

No, that can't be it. I never had any province with zero recruiting.

But pay attention to the status of your starting territories: eventhough they are in Russia some of them are just small colonies. Hence they have no city and no recruitmentpool.

OTOH if you are experiencing this in provinces with a city, then I don't know what it is. Even a very small city should have at least 1 recruitment, right?

Anyway: let's have an update of this AAR, please?

Peace - build up again.

Jul: Lithuania revolts with 22000 peasants, which defeat the standing army (7000).
We recapture Bessarabia. On to Bujak.
Aug: Newly recruited, united forces beat down the revolt in Lithuania. Rebels who captured Mecklenburg march on western Pommerania, where 25000 men await them. We are victorious.
Dec: Memel revolts….

1602. 254d. Stability +1.
Prediction for the next stability level is this month.
Revolting provinces: Mecklenburg, western Pommerania, Memel, Kursk, Ukraine, Galicia, Krakow, Bujak, Dobrudje, Azow, Kerch. (11).
We recapture western Pommerania. The army heads south to Krakow and Galicia.
Feb: Bohemia cedes Moravia to Austria and pays an additional 250 gold for peace.
Apr: Europe erupts in flames as Russia declares war on the Teutonic order. Wurtemberg, Venice, Sweden, Spain and Curland join Russia in this war. England, Hessen, Austria, Georgia, Brandenburg join the war on the side of the Teutonics.
May: we recapture Mecklenburg.
Jun: Plague. Population halved in Krementjug, Estonia and Tula.
Jul Iraq pays 182 to Persia for peace.
Aug: we recapture Bujak.
Nov: Galicia recaptured.

1603. 248d. Stability +2.
Revolting provinces are: Krakow, Dobrudja, Azow, Kerch, Kursk, Memel.
Because the plague has halved the population of Krementjug, we place a colonist there. Just on the other side of the border, 37000 Russians and Swedes are besieging Livonia.
May: Memel falls to rebels.
Aug: Teutonics pay 136 to Sweden for peace. Hessen pays 250 to Venice for peace.
Sep: Kursk is cleared of rebel scum.
Oct: The royal marriage with Baden expires. We suggest to renew and they are glad to accept. We also repeat our offer to Spain, but again the Dons haughtily refuse the pretty princess we had in mind.
We recapture Dobrudja.

1604. 596d. Stability +3.

France invites us to their military alliance, which we decline. One lesson from the previous war is that our badboy rating must be down at the start, else we cannot annex anything to reap the fruit of our efforts.
Jan - we recruit in Kouban, 1000 at a time, to recapture Azow and Kerch.
May: we recapture Krakow.
Aug: Kouban revolts. We loose, 5000 men down the drain.
We reinvest in trade in Mascate, where Turkey has a nice monopoly.

1605. 772.
Jan: Of course we failed to vasallize Baden. So, to the disappointment of our nobility, no Ingermanland party. The one person who seems to be missing the party most turns out to be our King, as he included Ingermanland again in the list of possible missions.
We discover a new Kingdom on the map, Aragon, and our noble prince Zolkieskwy abducts a pretty princess from this country.
Jun: Venice pays England for peace, which ends another major war.
Nov: We start to besiege Azow. Just some rebelions in memel and the south left.

1606. 856d.
We build a new naval equipment factory in Danzig, as the previous one was destroyed in the last war.
Current wars: Wurtemberg vs Turkey, Tunesia, Morrocco, Cyrenaica and Tripoli.
Venice vs Teutonics, Georgia and Brandenburg.
Hessen vs Russia, Wurtemberg, Sweden and Spain.
Jun: Hannover revolts. Our generals reports that we now have matchlock (10).
France repeats its yearly proposal for a military alliance, with Helvetia and Aztecs.
Zolkiewsky butcheres 27000 peasants in Hannover. That will teach them a lesson.
Aug: we recapture Azow. We finally shipped 8000 men to Memel and lay siege to it.

1607. 358d
We upgrade the fortress in Mecklenburg to level2.
In August we recapture Memel. By keeping to recruit in Azow, we bring up the army in Kerch to 14000.
Sep: wow! A bold captain, Sapieha, has put himself, his crew and ship at our disposal in Estonia. Of course we can not be less generous than he is, so we put our entire northern fleet at his disposal and ask him to meet this flottilla in Bremen.

1608. 549d.
Monthly income is 111. Sapieha sails from Bremen. He makes it to the Greenland sea before the first deaths occur - we recall him to refresh. At last, we can pay our war-loan.
Hessen pays 250 to Wurtemberg for peace. Russia, Sweden and Spain sign a white peacve with Hessen.
Hannover revolts.
Sapieha takes supplies in Bremen and sets sail to the west.

1609. 418d.
Russia declares war on Astrakahan, joined by Wurtemberg, Sweden, Spain and Venice. The Crimea adds Astrakahan - but that help can be in name only, as all its provinces seem to be in revolt except one.
We recapture our last rebelling province, Kerch. With over 400 in cash, we send a personal gift to the ruler of Kleves. Looks like a good small country to annex.
In September, Baden declares war on Wurtemberg. Unfortunatley for Baden, its ruler seem to have forgotten that Wurtemberg has allies, and Russia, Venice, Sweden, Spain and Holstein all join the side of Wurtemberg.
In the west, Sapieha discovers land, but is forced to withdraw by a pirate fleet.

1610. 692d.
We and the King (the proper sequence, I suppose) are pleased to announce a new court party, as the strategic goal of keeping Ingermanland has been realized. The King announces that keeping Ingermanland remains the strategic goal for the next 5 years. After reading his papers, he adds that an alliance with Baden is also 'very important' for the national security.
Crimea makes peace by ceding Lugansk to Sweden and paying 132d.
The royal ties with Baden pay off as they now accept our proposal for a new alliance. Munster revolts, and 25000 farmers besiege the town. We send an army to restore peace. Memel also revolts, but the 15000 peasant are mowed down by 7000 regulars.
In October, Zigismund Wasa III is struck by illness. We order the best doctors of the realm. Memel revolts again, and this time they eliminate the garrison as well as its reinforcements. In the west Sapieha discovers waters new to us, but the Netherlands have already colonized a lot.

1611 888d
Azow revolts. Sapieha discovers some new waters in the west. Still no lands to colonize.
Russia annexes Astrakahan and Persia annexes Iraq.

1612 1113d
A new naval equipment factory can be constructed, this time in Bremen.
A bad omen is the Russian refusal of our traders. We enter a royal marriage with Kleves. The royal marriage with Savoy expires and is renewed.
Crimea pays Kalmuk and 132d to Russia for peace.
In August, England declares war on Spain. Hessen, Austria, Brandenburg, Teutonic Order and Georgia follows Englands example.
Opposing them they find Russia, Wurtemberg, Venice and Sweden.
We have to wait until 1618 before the alliance of France with its minors expires.

1613. 397d.
Azow revolts. Sapieha is now exploring down the African coast.
Wurtemberg pays Austria with 29d for peace. The Teutonic order pays Sweden a like amount for peace. Venice signs a white peace with Brandenburg, Teutonics and Georgia.
Zygmunt III Wasa suddenly dies. As regent, we will take his place.
Nubia cedes Hajar and 73d to Persia for peace.

1614. 379d.
Badboy rating is still way to high at 10. Our admirals report they have mastered the elementals of drawing maps (early cartography).
Wurtemberg pays 163d to Hessen for peace.
England cedes Bristol to Spain in a peace agreement.

1615. 577d.
At a court party only slightly less expensive then the one of 5 years ago, the King proclaims that Ingermanland had been retained, and thus the Kingdom was safe. And as Ingermanland would remain the top national security goal for the next 5 years, everybody could go home, go to bed and sleep secure. After these words most couples indeed left….
Venice makes peace with Austria by handing over Mantua. Teutonics pay 35d to Spain for peace.
In November Hannover revolts. We send troops from the Teutonic border right away.
We also spill a lot of money on trade wars in Danzig and Novgorod.

1616. 740d
Wurtemberg signs a white peace with England, Georgia, Teutonic Order and Brandenburg.
Hannover falls to the rebels before help arrives, and the march on to Bremen. We defeat them in this province, and lay siege to Hannover itself. Munster is also rebel-controlled.
Meanwhile, Sweden conquers Oldenburg.
Spain pays 177d + Flanders to Austria.
Russia declares war on Sibir, which gets help from poor powerless Crimea.

1617. 887d.
We recapture Hannover and march to Munster.

1618. 1117d.
The new naval equipment factory arises in BessArabia. Its value = (19/3) before upgrade, with 90./5.6/5.6 as breakdown of the 19.
Hannover revolts, and we interrupt the siege of Munster to quell this revolt.
In November, the alliance of France with its minors will expire. It has an alliance with 5 minors: Aztecs, Helvetia, Aragon, Savoy and Tuscany.
While its minors are still listed as allies, the possibility appears to invite France to our alliance. France accepts, and we also successfully invite Aragon, Tuscany and Savoy. Our relation with Helvetia is alas at -200, so wont don't even take the trouble to send a messenger.
(by the way, I think this is a flaw in the games design. When you don't have some contact, relation automatically declines to -200. Unless there is good reason, relation should i.m.h.o. drift to 0.

1619. 496d.
We send a personal gift to the elector? of Kleves. Relations improve moderately (-57). We recapture Munster from the rebels.
There is still a war going on between England and Sweden. I have seen Swedish troops in Oldenburg, but now England has retaken its possessions.
Sibir pays 35d to Russia for peace. Sapieha dies on his return trip from the Atlantic, try to discover south America.

1620. 755d.
The 5 yearly Ingermanland court party is held. As the court is still mourning the death Sapieha, Polands only explorer, the king arrives in black. Too short was his life, he would have loved to discover the shores of India. (and so would we).
In July our alliance will end, and we must renew it.
There are several power blocks:
England - Austria - German minors
Russia - Sweden - Spain - minors
Portugal - Persia - minors
Poland - France - minors
And several lesser ones.
Not renewing it leaves the country in the grave risk of a combines assault by Russia and Sweden. Also, we had better not risk a combined assault of Austria and England.

The new navel equipment factory is Bessarabia is completed. In preparation of new military actions, and to discourage that aggressive neighbour called Russia, we raise new troops all over the country.
In July our alliance elapses, and we successfully re-invite France, Savoy, Aragon, Tuscany and Baden. Zolkiewski dies.

1621. 376d.
In June, the infrastructure advances to Late Baroque (6), we are the first nation to be able to build good manufactories.
Conducting a survey, I find that France and Austria have far outpaced me in land tech. Both have land tech over 20. Most countries are around 15, while Turkey and Poland come lowest - around 11/12.
We built new troops and new ships. We got an explorer!

1622. 376d.
Again: more ships. Our explorer nees ships! The entire northern coastline is building ships!
We waste some money on city walls in Bessarabia. And we waste more money on trade wars.

1623. 379d.
A fleet with over 10000 men sets sail for the west. Let's hope there is some land left in the northern USA.
Sweden is besieging Oldenburg again. Alas, Anticosti turns out to be the place where England is building a trade post. Back to Bremen.

No, stuck with EU1.
I looked in the shops, but they stocked just EU1, not EU2.
