I have asked in the Paradox Reddit page this certain question/request but I am also coming here more opinions (probably helps I am asking a bit more clearly too...). I am running my very first mega-campaign AAR, doubt any of you have read it honestly it's not that good. I could be doing better but that's likely my writing style clashing with my inexperience. Slight spoilers ahead for anyone who has indeed read my current AAR, so if you would like to be surprised do not read on.
Now then I am stuck at where I want my AAR to end up, that is to say when I reach Hearts of Iron IV what I want my nation to look like. I am playing Poland (reforming Slavic faith btw) and my original goal was to make a Polish/Russian Empire sort of thing. Think early 20th century Russian Empire but not prone to communism.
However I have been having second thoughts about my end goal, mostly because I don't want to be too powerful when I end up in Vicky 2 or HOI4. The other reasoning is I do not like blobbing all over the map, it's a boring story and just not fun for me. I know all that land in Siberia has very low supply and doesn't give much of anything really, but I feel like I would be too OP for when I get to HOI4. So I looked around and thought about a Between the Seas Poland with holdings across Eastern Europe would be something to strive for.
I will admit I am partial to the Intermarium simply because it's usually how I like to play my games. Modest but strong in my own right, not crazy paint the map but good enough to scare others away for a time. I am only in the CK2 portion of my AAR but eventually I will get to EU4, when that happens I want to be sure of where I will take my country.
One last thing I want to do during the AAR probably around EU4 to Vicky 2, is to take a lot of SE Asia. Indochina or Indonesia doesn't matter too much to me. If Intermarium then I would try to get the Suez canal as well, but if Russia style then that won't be needed really I think.
Lastly I have no-go zones in my games during certain playthroughs (areas I don't like playing or conquering with a certain country) and it's in effect here. Anything really west of Poland (Baltic coast is fine to take in my eyes) is not going to be touched, Byzantium/Ottoman lands and most likely going to leave Finland alone too. I am fine with leaving Siberia to be filled in by an AI but they would have to do it. Uncolonized land kinda drives me mad at the end of Victoria games. I already have an outline for my idea groups so I am good there, just how to expand my eventual Empire.
tl;dr Should I work towards a Russian Empire kind of Poland or Between the Seas Poland for when I hit EU4 in my mega-campaign AAR? I also want SE Asia if possible. Won't go west or into Byzantium/Ottoman lands. Finland might be off-limits.
