I wanted to begin a new AAR for some time, but never came to it. Well, I guess now would be a perfect time, don't know why, I just hear birds singing and flowers growing. Hell, it's summer.... Plus, I wanted it to be special, interesting and innovative. But most of the good ideas were put in practice, and may I add, better than I could ever succeed. But I found one way, so devious and cunning, that I amaze even myself.

I shall write an AAR based on the game adventures of... my girlfriend. Don't laugh, she might see you and drop the whole thing. What I did was a little pact with her (trust me, I tried it first with guys, but, as I told you before, I don't know anyone who plays EU2, or even enjoyes it, at least my girlfriend is expandable...just kiddin'), which included 5 hours of game play (from her part, that's about 30 years) and a few trips at the pool, and at the mall (from my part). As you see, she gets all the advantages, while I end up meeting people I don't want to meet, and worse talking to them.

I had to choose a country and this was the easiest. Since she is a total newbie, I took that omnipotent phrase of each newbiethread response: France, 1492. I explained her the essentials about this game (which caused, BTW, a very bored face and even a threat), but not my usual objectives. She will develop her own style of play (did I tell you that she hates history?) and, thankfully, Francisc I will not find a very ruined country in 1515. I felt obliged to change the settings (very easyyy), but nothing else. She won't know about events, she will not borrow any money. I will help her once every year, but that's it.

My reasons behind this initiative was the necessity of experimenting with your minds. Seriously, there are many threads that ask for help in converting a real newbie (one with no skill, no knowledge, no gaming experience). It is hard and for older people it's an impossible feat. But I have a hidden hope that she at least will understand why I play EU2 so often. And maybe then I'll try it with my mother.

Please try to understand my poor English. I'm fairly good, yet the more-literary texts I attempt always seem empty and void. This is why in my first AAR I rarely write directly in English, a translation keeping more of my original intentions. But this one will be very quick and (hopefully) funny enough. So, no translation, just good-old street cockney!

Between posts (and, of course, praises and suggestions from you), Irina (that's her real name, BTW) will have to choose a special song, moderately appropriate for the latest chapter, called "Musical Interlude". So, please, no laughs, it was all her idea.... Also, that post will be definitely her own work (part of the deal, you don't know how hard is to convince people to play EU2), so if the word Kennedy comes up, you should know I had nothing to do with his death... She intends to be cruel, so watch out! (actually, I should watch her, I really don't want to be banned)

One last thing: there will be screenshots, but not so many, because of certain issues (she will not permit me to touch the keyboard too often). I'm using the 1.07 last beta, no mods, no gods, no toads. The actual playing will begin tomorrow morning and the posting the night after. Stay tuned! Wish me luck!

First Book: Genesis

As most of you already know, I am God. It’s not hard to prove, I have my wings, the original edition of Bible, with signatures from Moses and Nehemiah, even a little scratch inflicted upon me by Satan. In other words, someone cooler than me can’t exist. And if he exists, he is bound to live in Romania, under the false name of Alexandru H.

I could tell you endless stories about my deeds. Of course, many of them were written down and called The Old Testament, but I have doubts that they represent the whole truth. People are afraid when it comes to deities and even the simple procedure of flooding the whole world was seen as a godly punishment. Trust me; I had just forgotten to turn off the fossets. Good thing my maintenance guy came quickly and resolved the whole damn
thing. The bad thing was that at that time I was kinda short of money, but I offered him instead the planet Earth, now completely depleted. He accepted and moved with all his family.

But I digress; the main thing is that I am Alpha and Omega, or at least I think I am (got to re-read the Bible one of these days). Nothing is unknown to me (well, I had a problem with physics and astronomy, but some guys in the 16th century helped me a lot with it… imagine, ‘till then, in my head, the world was flat and Earth was the center of the universe), except one thing: what the hell (excuse the expression) does my wife do in the kitchen?

Oh, I have a wife. Actually, I stole it from some guy I created and then dumped into the cold, cold world. My wife’s name is Eve. Those were the times, she thought of me as the strongest being in the universe, and I believed that I had finally found my soul mate. But years passed, and this old fool’s dream came crushing down. I stopped being the strongest being in the universe, because she wouldn’t let me. My usual Saturday Pool Day was cancelled, due to the fact that she read in a book that the Sabbath tradition is old news…it seems that some guy called Jesus, proclaiming himself my son (got to stop the brothel tradition too, I have way too much children), invented a new free day, called Sunday. Wait ‘till I come up with Marx and his Labor Day, we’ll see who’ll get the last laugh (Editor's Note: Marx got the last laugh, when he denied the existence of both so-called Gods)

But what annoys me the most about Eve is the fact that she threatens my world domination. She always has an unwanted comment, coming not from a vast experience (like me), but rather from a limited mind and way too much sensibility. Why did you kill the dinosaurs? They were cute. Why don’t you kill the spiders? They’re yucky. I wanted a mall, but no, you just had to destroy the Babel Tower….So, you see, my situation is not a cheerful one. Alas, suicide seems sweet, and most of the guys seem to agree with me. Socrates is the only moralist, the big wuss. Always under a woman’s shoe. Attila even proposed a female massacre all over the universe, but I know that’s just because a woman killed him (joke: Why does Attila clean the battlefield? He practices a new broom technique. He he he! ).

A few days ago, one of my dear friends, you might have heard of him, Archimedes, the inventor of the “lever two-by-two pool trick shot” (plus some mechanical thingies I have no idea what they do), brought to my attention a proposal. My wife needs a lesson in responsibility and the art of God being. Wouldn’t be nice if we could provide her with a little tournament arena, in which her skills and sanity could be practiced and improved? Not something extremely fancy, but still a challenge and a possible marriage salvation. I agreed heartily. In her absence, God’s power will for sure unleash with all its might against unsuspecting fishes at the pond, unsuspecting beers at the tavern and unsuspecting girlies at the disco. Without any thought whatsoever, I threw her somewhere in time (thought is not what makes me God, action is!), along with Socrates, who seemed too attached to her. He would be her companion and close advisor, keeping her out of trouble, and us out of his boring philosophical lectures (did I tell you that he is a big moralist?).

And God saw that everything was good in the world, so he went to sleep. And the world was indeed at peace, except a small parcel of land on the small planet Earth, called France. (“The Very New Testament, only available on-line at amazon.com”)

Musical Interlude: Eve

Tears In Heaven by Eric Clapton

Would you know my name
if I saw you in heaven?
Would you feel the same
if I saw you in heaven?
I must be strong and carry on
'Cause I know I don't belong here in heaven...
Would you hold my hand
if I saw you in heaven?
Would you help me stand
if I saw you in heaven?
I'll find my way through night and day
'Cause I know I just can't stay here in heaven...
Time can bring you down, time can bend your knees
Time can break your heart, have you begging please...
Beyond the door there's peace I'm sure
And I know there'll be no more tears in heaven...
Would you know my name
if I saw you in heaven?
Would you feel the same
if I saw you in heaven?
I must be strong and carry on
'Cause I know I don't belong here in heaven...

This is one of my favourite songs, because it teaches all of us a basic truth: Women are the real Gods, not drunk, insensitive Men, pulled out from the gutter by their female counterparts. This is why I don't like Alexandru's text, sexist like so many other books, movies, songs. Plus, I hate europea universalis!

Edit by A.H. : And I also like the mods (please don't ban me). Well, the funny thing is that this "great, unsexist song" is a MAN creation, so, who is the genius? Me or the ROTW (rest of the women)? He he he! She is quite a speller!:D :D :D

I don't know if hating it is the problem. She mostly doesn't understand it, therefore she ignores it. And to be ignored is the greatest punishment in the world for her (and for me, too, actually)

But I hope the sporting event of tomorrow will teach her a lesson or two (I even played with great amusement Cosmopolitan Virtual or The Sims, and haven't complained). But it seems that only e-mail and Office deserve to be touched. Not even a small Solitaire, now what is wrong with Solitaire?:D

Sounds like a fun idea if you can pull it off Alexandru H. Tell Irina that she has a beautiful name and I'll be reading with interest of her many conquests. :D

I'll change it in a second!

Hi Stroph1! But this is still Alex. Irina doesn't post (I told you, only e-mail and office, but she tells me what to write in that quoted short sentence. The only rule: don't change a word. My only rule: don't make the mods mad!:D

Hell hath no fury like a wome... er, mod scorned. Yeah, that's it. :)

Actually, I'm more offended by the line: It is hard and for older people it's an impossible feat. What's your definition of old? :D

Anyway, good luck, and tell Irina to be gentle - though it's obvious she has the stereotypical male pegged. ;)

Lord Durham, I consider you very old. For you see, in my world everyone is young and doesn't play Europa Universalis. So, you are just like me, some time-forgotten geyser.:D

Well, she wants to taunt me and the rest of the bunch. I knew Internet for 5 years, and that's a record here. So, there are many misconceptions, like "people hanging on the forums are stupid, unable to say a word in public, complexed by their natural faults". She just likes to take advantage of it, I guess.
