I wanted to begin a new AAR for some time, but never came to it. Well, I guess now would be a perfect time, don't know why, I just hear birds singing and flowers growing. Hell, it's summer.... Plus, I wanted it to be special, interesting and innovative. But most of the good ideas were put in practice, and may I add, better than I could ever succeed. But I found one way, so devious and cunning, that I amaze even myself.
I shall write an AAR based on the game adventures of... my girlfriend. Don't laugh, she might see you and drop the whole thing. What I did was a little pact with her (trust me, I tried it first with guys, but, as I told you before, I don't know anyone who plays EU2, or even enjoyes it, at least my girlfriend is expandable...just kiddin'), which included 5 hours of game play (from her part, that's about 30 years) and a few trips at the pool, and at the mall (from my part). As you see, she gets all the advantages, while I end up meeting people I don't want to meet, and worse talking to them.
I had to choose a country and this was the easiest. Since she is a total newbie, I took that omnipotent phrase of each newbiethread response: France, 1492. I explained her the essentials about this game (which caused, BTW, a very bored face and even a threat), but not my usual objectives. She will develop her own style of play (did I tell you that she hates history?) and, thankfully, Francisc I will not find a very ruined country in 1515. I felt obliged to change the settings (very easyyy), but nothing else. She won't know about events, she will not borrow any money. I will help her once every year, but that's it.
My reasons behind this initiative was the necessity of experimenting with your minds. Seriously, there are many threads that ask for help in converting a real newbie (one with no skill, no knowledge, no gaming experience). It is hard and for older people it's an impossible feat. But I have a hidden hope that she at least will understand why I play EU2 so often. And maybe then I'll try it with my mother.
Please try to understand my poor English. I'm fairly good, yet the more-literary texts I attempt always seem empty and void. This is why in my first AAR I rarely write directly in English, a translation keeping more of my original intentions. But this one will be very quick and (hopefully) funny enough. So, no translation, just good-old street cockney!
Between posts (and, of course, praises and suggestions from you), Irina (that's her real name, BTW) will have to choose a special song, moderately appropriate for the latest chapter, called "Musical Interlude". So, please, no laughs, it was all her idea.... Also, that post will be definitely her own work (part of the deal, you don't know how hard is to convince people to play EU2), so if the word Kennedy comes up, you should know I had nothing to do with his death... She intends to be cruel, so watch out! (actually, I should watch her, I really don't want to be banned)
One last thing: there will be screenshots, but not so many, because of certain issues (she will not permit me to touch the keyboard too often). I'm using the 1.07 last beta, no mods, no gods, no toads. The actual playing will begin tomorrow morning and the posting the night after. Stay tuned! Wish me luck!
