Lovely stuff, but I demand battle screenshots! Where is the Confederate sprite, sir?

I like the idea of up to eight factories in a state, and the fact you lost your Federal Armoury in Alabama.

I'm sorry, King, but I hope the proud men of Dixie smash your United States.

If a player manages to build up Uruguay to have 9 different factories, the game is worth playing. You want ever-repeating historical accuracy, read a book.
Assuming the same factory size as in Vicky 1, you're looking at about 100,000 POPs per factory. That's 800,000 with all 8 factories, or 3.2 million population. Considering its current population as of 2010 is 3.5 million, you'd have to be VERY gamey or the game would have to broken for you to have enough POPs to make the 8 factory limit an issue. And you can still upgrade the other so it doesn't really matter even then.

But are factories not tied to POPs?

If there aren't enough people who can be converted to factory workers, then of course further factories could not be built.

At least... that's how I assume things should work.

Only 2 national focus points for the US seems very low. I understand that this is probably being revised during game balance testing. But is that number (2) the developer's intent for countries?

hmm yes i bit small but i wouldnt recondmend it being much higher. it also depends on how long it takes to accomplish national focuses.

If I remember correctly then there are no ugrades for factories in vicky2. In vicky1 you could make really huge facotries with monopoly. But thats not in the game. Can someone confirm this?

I'm not sure I agree. Doesn't National Focus also affect neighbouring provinces? I believe this is the case in Heir to the Throne, anyway.

As such, if you set your first National Focus to New York, then it will help/affect most of New England, whereby if you set your second to somewhere in the Midwest, it will help expand your territories there by upping tax and population.

I assume the latter would be a good way to 'push West' and so on.

So you think they've hardcoded the amount of factories you can have and you can't even upgrade them?
I don't think so.

IIRC cultural techology advances will give you more. And also size of population (??). 1851 is still very early in the game and whe South breaks away, it may very well make you loose one or two of them.

See the second screenshot - the plus button and the numbers next to them would seem to indicate size and the ability to increase - perhaps king or someone else can comment further.

It seems youre right. This would make no sense, if you cannot upgrade a factory. My memory must be foggy...

So the lumber factory seems to be currently in the process of upgrade and the ones you can't see + symbol or the progress bar above, but have progress bar below must be under construction

thanks for the update King.

30% encouragement should do the trick. i like the fact that every state has a maximum of 8 factories to build. it would spread you industries throughout the country. i hope small countries like Switzerland dont suffer from the lack of space for further industries.

King, how often will we be able to change our national focus (now that we come close to fairly balancing the game)?

Two questions regarding the screens:

- Does the "Encourage Armaments Industry" national focus also encourage artisans to produce small arms, explosives, etc...? Or would this require a different national focus?

- In the army list, some of them them are marked in red. Does this mean these forces are in battle, taking taking attrition or something else?

I'm seriously loving the new national focus. It's exactly what Vicky 1 could have used.

King: is the number of resources set, or will it be possible to mod in our own, additional ones?

Follow up on that ... what are the two "clerks" and "craftmen" figures relative to? It cannot be the total population of this type in the state, so I would go for total unemployed of that type... is this correct ?

of course you can make them bigger, you just can't have one state producing all your goods
