The problem with Laissez Faire is that sometimes things don’t work out the way you want it. Needless to say the Union build up for the ACW was seriously dented by the loss of the Federal Arsenal in Alabama. However, the Whig government took action to encourage a new Armaments industry in New York

Nice ! :)

I notice in the goods list up in the production screen that there is still a "precious metal" good type...? I thought it had disappeared with the new and automatic precious metal to gold transformation... Am I missing something here? Is there gold mines that produce gold AND precious metal mines?

No but you can see how much you produce

In the second screenshot under factories it says x/8. Does this mean that states can only have 8 factories. If so does this limit go up when infrastucture and/or technology rises?

No you are limited to 8 unique factories in a state.

Thanks for your answer.

Follow up on that ... what are the two "clerks" and "craftmen" figures relative to? It cannot be the total population of this type in the state, so I would go for total unemployed of that type... is this correct ?

Those who are unemployed

Only 2 national focus points for the US seems very low. I understand that this is probably being revised during game balance testing. But is that number (2) the developer's intent for countries?

Research more technology, I currently have 3 in France and it is 1843

See the second screenshot - the plus button and the numbers next to them would seem to indicate size and the ability to increase - perhaps king or someone else can comment further.

of course you can make them bigger, you just can't have one state producing all your goods

Two questions regarding the screens:

- Does the "Encourage Armaments Industry" national focus also encourage artisans to produce small arms, explosives, etc...? Or would this require a different national focus?

- In the army list, some of them them are marked in red. Does this mean these forces are in battle, taking taking attrition or something else?

yes it does

Red mean you are suffering attrition

A question about the "Encourage" national focus: Does it actually subsidize such business, or does it only encourage it? If the Arms Factory in Alabama was closed, surely it was closed because it wasn't profitable, so starting a new one on the grounds of that national focus would surely also result in the new factory going in minus and being eventually closed?

No that is up to your economic policy.

I hate this game. It is 1848 and the upper house is almost ready for reform

Some of the units appear to be at very irregular numbers, does that mean that reinforcement is automatic like EU3 and HOI3, instead of instantaneous and manual like Vicky?

yep, eu3 style.

which means that units in enemy territory need supply lines open. (ie, occupy stuff etc)

I love these AARs a great wee look into the game

but could you please have the message box up in the screen shots, its a tiny nigh-insignificant thing to do but it would open up a whole world of seeing whats going on for us of the screen-shot reading persuasion.

and that france is very historical with all those rebels
Is that an event rebellion for the end of the july?

No there is no historical event for this.

As a side-note: If the rebels win the rebellion and cause a revolution, what devised whether it's the reactionary rebels who win or the anarcho rebels who win?

Control of capital ofc :)

Is there still some sort of scripted Liberal Revolution in this? Because I always thought it to be a terribly strange event.

Does this mean that countries can have liberal revolutions, but they happen when the population is fed up, not with scripted intervention?

There are a number of events that drive liberalis but these are generic only. It becomes a race between reform and popular anger. I lost this time. :(

AUX ARMES, CITOYENS! :D

Nice!

But hey, that factory limit? Not good. Even if we disregard the whole "ahistoricality" of it or the fact that seems a bit arbitrary, that can seriously handicap smaller countries and specially the ones outside Europe... I mean, Ireland with it's four provinces can produce far much more than Uruguay, even considering that Uruguay is larger than the Emerald Isle. :)

Why? its 8 per state. Ireland is 1 state, and so is Uruguay.

I see, not a bad decision - but it makes me wonder if they fight each other or not. If not, it would mean that the 340k anarchist rebels could very well help out the much weaker 113k reactionary rebels towards a reactionary nation just because the reactionaries spawned closer to Paris.

If the anarchist rebels then disappear this would be a bit strange, however if they still hang around and the new reactionary government will have to deal with them it could lead to a series of seriously cool South-America style coups.

"France is now a reactionary Kingdom!" "France is now a socialst republic!" "France is now a liberal republic!" "France is now a reactionary kingdom!"

They'll hang around :)
