The problem with Laissez Faire is that sometimes things don’t work out the way you want it. Needless to say the Union build up for the ACW was seriously dented by the loss of the Federal Arsenal in Alabama. However, the Whig government took action to encourage a new Armaments industry in New York

Lovely! One thing I remember from the early dev-diaries that confused me then and still seems to be in: Which is which of the import/export icons at the top?

It would seem logical that the export icon (being a positive aspect) was green, and the import icon red - but yet the red icon shows goods flowing out of a cirle, and the green one goods flowing in. Since this is the US and it seems likely they export timber and steel, I guess the top one (red) is export, but even so this confuses me. If I'm not the only one confused by this, I think it should be good usability to change the colours?

Nice ! :)

I notice in the goods list up in the production screen that there is still a "precious metal" good type...? I thought it had disappeared with the new and automatic precious metal to gold transformation... Am I missing something here? Is there gold mines that produce gold AND precious metal mines?

Around the year of 1880 and forward in vicky 1, the the capitalists tened to not build as many factories as in the 1850's and 60's but just consume expensive goods instead. Is this problem solved for vicky 2?

In the second screenshot under factories it says x/8. Does this mean that states can only have 8 factories. If so does this limit go up when infrastucture and/or technology rises?

No, because export/import is much more compex then +/-. Very interesting read on 19th century international trade is Frederic Bastiat: What Is Seen and What Is Not Seen. Or almost anything from that briliant guy :)

telesien: Sure, it would cripple the US economy if imports where cut, and as such they are not a red number, but I still can't see how that justifies imports being green and exports red in the Vicky II UI. If anything they could both be neutrally coloured, and moreover - even though the economy earns a lot by importing needed goods at market price - in Vicky terms it would still do better if it didn't have to import those goods but instead produced them locally. (Or is this changed from Vicky I to II, King?).

Abit of an arbitrary strangle-hold isn't it? What about small states, what about Uruguay... :(

I agree. This kind of artificial limits usually don't make too much of a sense.

King, what is the reason of the limit? Is it becouse AI or something? Or number of calculations per day possibly?

If Uruguay needs 9 different factories, the game is broken.

If a player manages to build up Uruguay to have 9 different factories, the game is worth playing. You want ever-repeating historical accuracy, read a book.

Only 2 national focus points for the US seems very low. I understand that this is probably being revised during game balance testing. But is that number (2) the developer's intent for countries?
