I'm playing as Byzantinium and the year is 1682. But I have a problem, my emperor is over 240 years old.

Any idea what the problem is, and how I can solve it?

To all those saying its Historical rulers, it can't be. That was my thought at first too, but then I noticed he's playing HttT (see the inheritance tooltip?), and historical rulers was removed with HttT. Must be a bug that somehow allowed historical rulers. Check the other countries.

Edit: I saw that he said it was historical. But it was disabled in my 4.0 games too...so I don't know anymore. Sorry bout that

Well It's my game he's playing on and I put on historical leaders and all, however what does that has to do with 200 years emperors and advisor's?

This means that there is no new historical ruler to take his place (as with advisors) because historically the Byzantines DIED!

Edit: It looks like he CAN change advisors though! Otherwise they'd be greyed out wouldn't they? So that doesn't explain the super-advisor

Because with historical rulers, each nation has the ruler it had at that time in history. Since the Byzantines didn't change rulers after your guy, they keep him for the rest of the game.

In general, you don't want to play with Historical Rulers.

Historical Leaders are not disabled in HTTT 4.0. I just checked, and my checksum is correct.

Save that file, use whatever method to do away with him, leave that one run as long as you can until he dies, and when he does, put it in the EU3 Hall of Fame. :D

EDIT: Yes, you seem to have one 3 and a half times more long-lived than the current record-holder. :p

So...I think it's rather ironic that a vampire is ruling the Roman Empire. Maybe Dracula came down to Constantinople for a visit! :p

He's a good Emperor too...but yeah, turn the historical rulers off unless you're playing a 10 year block say 1805-1815 and recreating something specific.

Well, I kinda see this game as a way to play as your favourite kings, I love playing as Charles XII for instance. What I meant was though, why should one mode exclude the other? Seeing how you can alter history and make empires thrive on when they should have fallen? It should switch that nations leaders to unhistorical ones really then, I mean when the historical ones has come to an end?
