Per the title, thought it'd be a nice change to have a thread where you can post all those things you don't bother posting in suggestion threads because you know it'll never come about, whether that be because the scope's too big or the cost/benefit analysis doesn't work out.

I'll start; wouldn't it be amazing if PDX brought back all the voice actors that did the advisor voices and record new dialogue for all the event types that have been added since alternative advisor voices were added? No more generic beeps and boops when archaeology advances or you get a new tradition tree unlock.

A revisit on planets and habitability. Having a monobiome planet makes 0 sense.

I'd much prefer a simplifying of it with no enforced micro management.
That invasions are still part of the game makes sense, considering the setting, but i must not be entirely micro-management with little-to-no depth.

Something like a general empire manpower resource that you use as a limitation to how many invasions you can run simultatenously and how fast/effective these go. Assigning parts of it to invasions and invasions are essentially just situations that you start by right-clicking a planet in a conquered system - kickstarting a situation that you can either interact with or just leave it as a "fire-and-forget" kind of thing if you have overwhelming manpower.

It is not important enough to be a major gameplay feature, but it also must not be a micro-hell.

Making "Expanded Gestalts: Forgotten Queens" mod a part of the base game.
Giving Complex, the original author, some of the profits.

rework of the pop system, or a removal of it to embrace a more statistical system. rework of the planets system with it . so we can have performance back .

rework of races ,and the remodelling of them .

improve policy ,political system ( democratic, etc... ) to have an actual senate that vote on things, with the dictatorship\empire having more control on it but have more likely revolt for policy against polital power consense etc...

rework of the trade system , with actual resources type being exchanged and moving around planets and empires \ GC . or the policy to have a closed market.

i probably want Victoria 3 in space i will be honest.

  • Gestalts that can coexist with independent pops
  • Further fleshing out of MegaCorps
  • Habitability rework
But most of all,
  • Basic word processor functions for writing a species biography (e.g. line breaks)

Shifting Industrial district jobs with decisions rather than designations.

I suggested it back in the early days of 3.0, but ultimately nothing came out of it.

- A simplyfication of pops and their stratums (percenatge of filled slots, add boni of single pops later to that calculation, not per pop)

- terraforming rework, habitability rework

- species automatically tend to transform to better templates within the empire

- government ethics attraction, empire internal politics, sector and planetary politics

- army combat rework

This is the thread for stuff which will never happen? Okay. Here's mine.

Tiles, except better than previous tiles, with some provisions for non-tile specialist jobs.

Biome distinctions on planets (perhaps as "arctic tiles" on top, "ocean tiles" between landmasses, and so on), with no single-biome planets. Habitability as a per-tile value, with buildings that modify local values (e.g. a Paradise Dome gives +50% on its own tile and +20% on all adjacent tiles).

More visible portrait art on planets. Let me see who lives there, not just who is governor.

More visible deposit art.

More visible special building art as part of a city.

The tiles are on spheres (perhaps soccer-ball tiling, with relevant adjacency bonuses for 6-neighbor and 5-neighbor locations), not just a flat plain.

You can zoom in on a planet in the system view and see tile-scale structures where you've improved the planet.

Special tile layouts for habitats, ring worlds, and mod-created structures which can be expanded during play. Different layouts for different base objects, so Void Dwellers don't get too bored with the tiles mini-game.

System objects more visible in planet view (e.g. if a barren moon has 3 suns close together then the art does not show 1 sun, it shows 3). Unusual stellar objects show up as themselves (e.g. a barren planet in a system with only a black hole and no sun doe snot show a sun in its art, it shows the black hole on the horizon).

Facial expressions for pop happiness. C6 has facial expressions but they're not related to pop happiness -- they're just random -- which was a disappointment for me. This would require a bunch of creativity for non-humanoid portraits, but would be awesome.

Special clothing / attachments for pops with specific traits or lifestyles -- e.g. cyborgs get Borg-like visible machine components, slaves have collars and chains, servants wear maid outfits, duelists wear flashy spiked armor, priests have special hats, if you put chips in your slaves they have a small bulge with a glowing light in their necks, if you put on Erudite the pops wear monocles, all your Researchers might wear labcoats, and so on.

Religion system where you can design your own space faith, and then use diplomacy / war / espionage / etc. to spread your faith and fight ideological battles against other faiths.

MegaCorp system enhancements where you can share a planet with another MegaCorp, but you have to compete so it's unprofitable to do so -- you only do this to force the competition out. Basically a trade war with less obvious shooting.

Removal of most of the hairstyles and outfits added as part of that one Humanoid update.

You can tell they don't fit, they look like something out of a mod.

Things I believe will not happen, but would be cool to see someday:

- Economic rework. Make tiles great again! :p or at the very least, make food useful
- Pop rework. It is a too integral part of the game. Perhaps will eventually happen for Stellaris 2
- More different planets. Which is probably not going to happen because what if I get a bad RNG?
- Habitability & terraforming mechanics revision. Imagine habitability being relevant, imagine that! Crazy!
- Soft power mechanics (exporting your religion, culture, etc). Far too much work for what is essentially a personal pet peeve of mine
- Anything resembling ground combat being remotely interesting. Ground combat disappearing altogether is far more likely than a combat rework at this point
- Tall being viable. Pacifist playstyles being viable in general, really
- Leader rework
- Gaia planets not sucking
- Elevating regular Ascension Perks to the power levels of ascension paths (!)
- Different victory conditions (the game was not designed with this in mind)

Things that will eventually happen someday and that I will celebrate when it finally happens:

- Psionic ascension becoming as powerful as the others (it is already becoming awesome, tho)
- Espionage rework
- Internal politics (TM) becoming "a thing"
- A proper interface for gene modding
- A proper interface for managing corporate holdings
- A static defense designer
- Trade/piracy rework
- A fourth crisis being added
