That was very eventful as our high chief/king was busy fighting foreigners and those within. Sometimes, a ruler just have to reveal his iron fist, whether he wants to or not, to establish some order. Once these are all over, he might be able to finally transition to diplomacy and administrative stuff.

Thanks so much Asantahene, very flattered as ever!

I haven't read Tranter yet, but a longtime fan of most of Bernard Cornwall's series.

Pictland is loaded with conspiracies at the moment, but I haven't taken a screenshot of them - will take snapshots of both that screen and the extant council at the start of my next play session.

As Urguist is trusting, he's supremely unaware of anyone plotting against him unless his Spymaster specifically draws it to his attention - so although I was aware of the Telurg-for-Alba faction from two days after the McCircinn Restoration Urguist took no action against it and even found his brother an important overseas marriage.

My next couple of updates (over the next two days ideally) are in the Seven Kingdoms MultiplayAAR and then I'll gladly return to OutremAAR for a certain chapter with a fantastic image I'm looking forward to posting...

Siege of Jerusalem

Read Tranter's Macbeth the King. It really is superb. I see some echoes of your writing in it. Thanks for update on council and factions. Look forward to the next one and also OutremAAr next instalment

Subbed! I was wondering why there haven't been any updates in OutremAAR in over a week. I guess this is a good enough reason :)

I'm trying to figure out the best way to tell a story with the new tribal government type. I was playing as a count in the yet-unformed kingdom of Eire and was struck by this crazy idea that I would take over all of Britannia and make it a merchant republic and see what it would take to get there and where it would go afterwards. I ended up taking over all of Eire, proclaimed myself king and changed over to a merchant republic government type. However, the fact that I personally adopted a republic didn't make any of my vassals change their tribal ways (didn't know that was gonna happen). It turned out that my family won 7 straight elections, made a lot of money and started building the wealth of the eventual merchant empire, but then my political rivals pulled off a number of key assassinations in quick succession and I ended up losing the next one. So what happened? The guy that got elected was a tribal (because everyone was still tribal except my family), so now Eire is a tribal kingdom again and I'm just the doge of the republic of ulaidh (duchy of ulster), vassal to the murderer king. Goddamn spectacular!

I haven't played since that happened, more out of deference to grad school than my frustration at having sunk thousands of gold into the family mansion that I no longer own (though I will admit that I ragequit when I first realized that), but I want to turn it into an AAR starting from that point cuz the setup is great and it sounds like it could play out into an even more interesting story in the aftermath. However, I don't know if I trust myself to write it out in a way that would really bring life to the story like I see it in my head. As the author of my current favorite AAR (and this one is certainly shaping up to be a good one as well), do you have any advice for an aspiring first-time AAR writer?
