1923-1925 : Second war with the UK

In October 1923, we are at war with the United Kingdom. As there are no GPs at the UK's side, this does not become a Great War. This time, Britain is a war theatre.

G1.jpg

By December 1923, we have driven our high score high just by winning battles.

G2.jpg

We are fighting also on the Punjab front, but as we have committed few troops here, we are not expecting a decisive breakthrough .

G3.jpg

Spain is one of our allies, as are Turkey, Iran, Scandinavia, the Netherlands and the USA. Therefore, there are battles in the colonial areas as well.

G4.jpg

G5.jpg

We are sometimes outnumbered in Britain, but we are technologically superior, and by March 1924 we have managed to occupy a couple of provinces. A huge British stack sits idle in the north of the country, for some reason.

G6.jpg

while battles infuriate in the Saharan desert.

G7.jpg

While the biggest British stack stills sits idle on the North, we manage to surround their most active one in Chester by July 1925.

G8.jpg

While troops are at the front, a communist revolt breaks out in Germany, but luckily we have enough troops to quell it - but only just.

G9.jpg

The British are retreating in the British desert as well.

G10.jpg

In August 1924, the British main stack has surrendered. Several provinces in Britain have also been occupied.

G11.jpg

The Asian army is of course not sitting idly and is fighting the British in Indochina.

G12.jpg

Regrettably, there is a very stringent reason why we can't go on fighting this war. And this is finances. We are heavily indebted.

G13.jpg

By December 1924, we peace the UK. They have to cede North East England, and release the satellite Beroda.

G14.jpg

G15.jpg

But you may have noticed that we are now at war with the USA. Over some little island in the Pacific belonging to Spain.

G16.jpg

Considering our very bad financial situation, we sue for peace and let the Americans have it. Immediately after that, Spain is sphered by the USA. You can't always win. But we may win back the USA as an ally.

That war only cost you four million? I'd better study your method of war more; my last war with Great Britain set me back fifteen million.

All in all a lovely little war. Great Britain split in twain and a shorn of a strand of its web of puppets.

Thank you, the best war are the small ones ;)

1926-1930 : War with Austria, Russia and Belgium

In July 1926, the government of Germany was notified that Austria was at war with Italy and France. The casus belli was the liberation of Istria. Well, we couldn't just sit and watch, therefore we declared war on Austria using the Hegemony casus belli.

G0.jpg

We ended up being at war against Austria and the Russian Empire.

G1.jpg

G2.jpg

In an interesting turn of events, Belgium lost Bruxelles and was now an Asian nation - a Communist one. And they nationalized our assets, giving us a casus belli against them.

G3.jpg

Austrian and Russian troops were no match for the German Army.

G4.jpg

G5.jpg

By June 1927, we had occupied big parts of the Russian Empire.

G6.jpg

and Communist Belgium had become a satellite of Germany, therefore it was now called "German Asia".

G7.jpg

We were heavily indebted, but thanks to very high taxes we were still keeping a positive balance.

G8.jpg

Finances were the reason, though, why we were looking for a peace in March 1928. Just for fun, we retreated from the Russian Empire without killing the rebels.

G9.jpg

In January 1929, these were the changes. Krakow, Poland and Persia were now bigger, while Croatia had now a province next to Ukraine. Hungary had been released, at last. Rebels were marauding in the Russian Empire.

G10.jpg

Our spies in the Russian Empire reported that Moscow had been occupied by Jacobin rebels.

G11.jpg

All kinds of rebels were roaming in the Russian Empire. There might be a revolution after the revolution there.

G12.jpg

By November 1930, the Jacobins were in power and the country now was just called "Russia" and at least for a while, it ceased to be a Great Power.

G13.jpg

But the troubles for Russia were far from over. The new government had no army and other kinds of rebels were fighting for power, Reds and Whites. Belarus and Moldavia declared war on Russia.

G15.jpg

Meanwhile, Italy had profited from the situation and got another piece of Austria - Steiermark.

1931-1936 : The last war with Austria and Russia on the ropes

You might be excused for thinking that Germany would be at peace until the end of the game. Well, that did not happen. In fact, in July 1931, Germany was at war again, with Russia, in spite of the truce. Our sphereling and ally Egypt had called us to arms, to recover "Russian Egypt". Of course we would help them, and by the way those provinces had rubber.

G1.jpg

In fact, several countries had declared war on Russia, sensing that the giant was on the ropes, and wanting a piece of it. Belarus, Ukraine, Croatia, Manchuria, Persia, Korea, Scandinavia and Turkey were all fighting separate wars against Russia - and killing the Red and White rebels in the process, and this way preventing a second revolution.

G2.jpg

By May 1933, the dust had settled in Russia. In Asia the Big Bear had managed to defend himself, but in Europe he had to release Estonia and to cede provinces to Belarus, Ukraine and Skandinavia.

G3.jpg

Our sphereling Egypt had also recovered his province.

G4.jpg

After this, the UK declared war on Russia, as they wanted Russian China, and started occupying the Asian part of Russia.

G5.jpg

By October 1934, Russia had to cede a Chinese province to the UK as well.

G6.jpg

We had the time for another war - the last one in the Victoria 2 timeframe. In 1935, we declared war on Austria, and almost at the same time a Communist revolt broke out in Germany, that we easily crushed.

G7.jpg

By October 1935, we had occupied most of Austria, but the time was running out.

G8.jpg

By December 1935, we had dismembered Austria. Serbia and Hungary received new provinces, and Siebenbürgen was released. At last, we had managed to create a land connection to Turkey, take that Italy and Austria !

G9.jpg

This can be seen better in the diplomatic map of Europe.

G10.jpg

To finance this very last war, we were running huge debts, but we couldn't care less by now.

G11.jpg

Meanwhile Germany had become a real modern state and the Socialists were laying the foundations for a "Sozialmarktwirtschaft", or Social Market Economy.

G12.jpg

Germany's pride was his huge sphere of influence, that encompassed all continents. Ethiopia and Korea had been won in the last years as spherelings.

G15.jpg

G16.jpg

G17.jpg

After the short war over the Hawaii islands, the USA had been won back as an ally. Mexico was an ally as well.
It goes without saying that all technologies had been researched.
And then, world maps and country list.

G13.jpg

G14.jpg

G18.jpg

Germany would have liked to get a bigger colonial empire, to overtake the UK's industrial score and to take back Italy, Austria and Turkey in his sphere - but that wasn't to be. Not in this game. Which is actually my very first Victoria 2 game I play to the end.

In January 1936 the game was over.

Economic stats in the next update.

Wait a minute...
Austria hasn't been a Great Power for a while now. You could have forced them into your sphere in that war instead of dismantling them further. Why no Greater Germany?

Still, all in all a great game. Well-done.

Thank you. And you are right... I forgot about that. I should have added them to my sphere, that would have worked.

not possible if they've Decided to form Austria-Hungary, which changes their colour to that brownreddish type as is evident from the screenshots; it gives them Hungarian as accepted culture.

Awesome game, Lurked for a while but a fun concept.

I second that, but I don't know of any successful conversion AAR from Victoria 2 to HoI3, I think the converter is still very alpha.

Thank you! For following and coming out :)

Thank you everybody for following this AAR and to those who voted for me in the AArland Choice. I was considering further developing one of the Kaiser Einfalt's timelines, but I am not that motivated and I'd rather concentrate on the other EU3 AAR I just started.

I converted the save file to HoI3, and it looks even playable, but so far I could not get excited about the WWII game. Therefore, this AAR finishes here.

I might start another not-so-frequently-updated Victoria 2 AAR in a couple of months, and Portugal is probably going to be my choice, as using this country I could learn more about aspects of the game I don't know much ( colonization, protectorates, secondary powers, late industrialization).

On my todo list is also replacing some of the blurred screenshots in this AAR with better ones.

I enjoy Victoria 2 very much. It is a very interesting game and it feels more balanced than EU3.

As promised, a couple of economic statistics : factory list and richest POPs. Big images!

I can do that, any wish in particular ? This is a map of Europe which scared me because some countries seem screwed up.

HoI3_1.jpg

But you can play it and the game does not crash. I guess with some save file editing you could create an interesting scenario, but I know too little about HoI :eek:o .

I guess because HoI does not know Croatia and the converter replaced it with a country it knows, Iceland. Same for Algeria been replaced by Bulgaria. Krakow replaced by Slowakia, Siebenbürgen by Albania and so on...
It can be made to work but you probably need to edit the save file.
