@IconOfEvi It's true that general infantry doesen't really have best motivation to fight. They are pretty much conscripts forced into service trough sheer economic pressure (not even reward!). They don't make good money like regular professionals do, nor do they have personal loyalties, bloodthirst and greed of Triads and other elite forces. There's also not enough loyal manpower to force them into fight trough brute force as most of elites are needed as crack troops while those few doing policing work can't keep an eye on entire mass. So expecting bunch of greenhorns to put up a good fight without ideological motivation (fight for AOG corporation, abstract German Empire or even Teufel-Triad junta?), constant threat of force and promise of rewards is not really best strategy. Altough AOG had no better choice at those times.

@der Kriegsherr Harsh terrain is in favor of Republican defenders who also have more specialized troops suitable for such warfare (they have enough special brigades/shock troops who give defenders big bonus while I have mostly heavy mechanized units mixed with regular light infantry so only helicopter corps is doing well in those circumstances). Story-wise, there is also political explanation as Republicans are highly motivated due to their regime promoting combination of Chinese nationalism and social-populist agenda, they are basically Left-Wing KMT/early RoC version in 21st century).

Thanks for comments, everyone!

General Battlefield report
War of Republican Aggression
Yunnan-Sichuan Theatres of Operations
Operational Performance of East Asian Army,
Guard Corps and Expeditionary Forces
July 2007 - February 2008

In spite of all the difficulties, AOG forces managed to perform a major breaktrough of Republican frontline at Gejiu. Expeditionary troops from Ceylon Volunteer Corps played extraordinary role on the field. In spite of efficient gunship support, forces loyal to AOG suffered considerable loses due to Republican exploitation of bad terrain and dirty tactics.

ScreenSave12_zpsat1m2uik.png

The helicopter corps as AOG vanguard in Southern Section had to depart from Gejiu even before majority of following friendly forces could arrive to provincial capital. Qing-allied Thai forces have made dangerous gains into Yunnan, closing on to Republican capital of Kunming. We could not allow them to cut us from this valuable prize and our air assault corps was dispatched to spearhead risky operation of taking control over the Kunming. Our Indochinese allies who provided great help with cross-border support against the Republic are now moving more of their troops into China itself while Saigon and President-General managed to persuade some more regional allied forces like Dutch East Indies and Malaysia to deploy at least some troops to Indochina in order to keep this land secure with so many local units leaving for China theatre of war.
ScreenSave13_zps75p9njq7.png

Gunships and air cavalry continued to clear the path to Kunming by destroying everything in their way. In a show of force, gunships passed the suburbs of Republican capital which was caught totally off guard in face of rapid enemy offensive. The RoC leadership already vacated the goverment district and isolated anti-air projectiles were being deflected by counter-measures as the gunships and protected assault transports passed the city suburbs in a show of force. The sky was illuminated by fire from anti-aircraft guns while the anti-air positions and other nests of entrenched enemies that found themselves on hell's highway were being eradicated during the flight to city centre. After air assault infantry under the protection of gunship firepower infiltrated central state buildings and rised the flag over captured Congress, Presidency, General Staff HQ and other key structures in govermental district. Soon, disorganized but massive counter-attack of desperate Republican troops in city was launched in order to retake the lost centre.
ScreenSave14_zpsapklt4lj.png

However, counter-attack was soon interrupted by appearance of AOG main force in the outskirts of Kunming. City was being filled up with sea of AOG troops for which the helicopter corps had cleared the way before and have now waltzed right into the chaotic capital. Large Republican garrison that was left behind had no choice but to surrender.

ScreenSave15_zpsz0ysqqmh.png

Altough Thai forces have pushed dangerously far into Republican territory, Kunming was out of their reach now and AOG command remained defiant not to allow any further rival land grabs in Yunnan. Air assault corps was sent further to the West to prevent any future Thai advances into China. Altough tired from impressive mission, air assault personel remained highly motivated. South African mentors who were reviving the times of mercenary glory were proud of elite cadres they raised and this pride with addictive rush of combat was far better motivation than the hefty prizes they were collecting. Their graduates were even more thrilled in their youthful energy and the spirit of new AOG could be seen in their eyes. At least the one of AOG that the President-General Teufel who soon arrived to conquered Kunming in his black helicopter has envisioned.

ScreenSave16_zpszvvlrdjr.png

And Berlin? Luftwaffe fighters in Chinese bases took off only to provide an escort to the imperial logistics when needed and haven't launched a single missile against the Republican forces. While additional supply and logistical support from Empire had some value, AOG air fleet still had to fly overtime and could not provide enough air support to all the units that desperately needed it on the field. Some circles in Berlin were not only showing cowardice, but were obviously also sabotaging AOG war effort for some reason. From German-lead camp in the West, only a brigade of Ottoman commandos was sent to Haikou as symbolic gesture of Berlin Pact solidarity. However, the only real solidarity came from bilateral relations AOG has forged alone and while the men of Ceylon and Indochina were dying on the frontlines, the Turks and Germans were dwelling in their bases.

ScreenSave17_zps0nqim0ri.png

Thus it is no secret that East Asian Army personel and many other people are not having the warm feelings about Berlin at this moment. Men in general staff are even celebrating bad news from Germany like disasters that obviously result from failure of German authorities to implement right policies. Schauble's reforms were putting pressure on public services and lack of money could be seen by insufficient actions from police, firefighters and other crucial services. Failed interventions that were mostly result of decaying equipment and unmotivated personel often resulted in bad handling of emergency situations and strong goverment position seemed less secure now. Economic recovery was not in sight yet and radicalized Left from SPD fringes and various underground groups was wrecking havoc in German cities. Anti-Syndicalist feelings and national pride still pushed security aparatus forward, but lack of funds and especially scent of weakness in foreign policy in relation to AOG forced many people to doubt the goverment policies. Air Marshal Voigt ordered his nationalist party at home to use the situation to make more noise, both by spreading political hysteria about internal crisis and bad economy, and by pointing on lack of imperial support for AOG. Even German ruling elite was divided on this issue. Generals were pushing for more support while legalist-technocrat circle in ruling cabinet continued to distrust new AOG leadership over shady policies and unsolved disappearance of old governor. It wasn't helpful that anti-AOG circle enjoyed support from German officials and companies evicted from AOG during fire sale of Company stocks and massive political changes in South China. On the other hand, Jingoist parts of population was growing sympathies for strong-willed people who rose to power in German China in order to do something more for the Empire.

ScreenSave21_zpsb7khrqdp.png

Of course the German goverment tries to hide its incompentence by so called ''anti-corruption campaigns'', cracking on tax dogers and such petty disturbances to pull some more wool over the eyes of those few naive citizens who still believe their lies.
ScreenSave23_zps3adku2l9.png

But in Asia we are actually taking care of serious issues. After the fall of Kunming and relocation of Republican goverment deeper behind the frontlines, some more progress was started to be made also in Sichuan frontlines. However, it seemed that for some reason the RoC sees Urumqi and Sinkiang region as the core of Republic and best National Revolutionary Army units seem to located in Northern fronts. Especially the Qing pressure which is in some way benevolent for our war effort but in general presents the threat for our spoils in post-Republican China is factor that should be taken into account. However, the coming winter soon slowed down the offensives on all fronts.

ScreenSave18_zps0fshytzv.png

In South, AOG forces managed to cut Thai troops from advancing further into China but the last chunks of Yunnan on border with India remained firmly in Republican hands into the start of next year's February. Indian support for NRA was obvious and even SuperHinds had to be aware of advanced portable missile systems that were appearing in Republican inventory. Fierce resistance was cracked only after months of aerial and artillery bombardment that caused massive damage to provincial capital of Luxi. Only after pressured against the NRA in Northern sectors started to mount again and it was clear that nothing is left to defend in this area, battered Republican forces withdrew to India under the heavy fire from gunship raids. Enemies left some saboteur squads behind to cause problems for our troops but most of their forces that retreated were reported to be replenished in India and sent North to Republican-controlled Tibet where we will meet them pretty soon once again.

India and sent North to Republican-controlled Tibet

Sinkiang region as the core of Republic

Oh ho! Maybe Teufel and the Tigress don't need an empire after all! Just to aid in helping the Tibetans and Uyghurs throw of the ROC's yoke!

Very good work! It looks like the AoG is going to finish this war in control of the bulk of the RoC's most important territory, while the Qing are only going to get stuck with lots of empty deserts and mountains. Bonus points I guess if you are able to take control of Tibet before the Qing can reach that area, your air cavalry units should be able to gain alot of ground for you before the Qing army can reach most of those areas.

@TheRemQc Thank you very much, and welcome on the board!

@der Kriegsherr Hehe, Tibetans and Uyghurs better pray it won't be the AOG that gets to their lands first. Otherwise RoC isn't too harsh on minorities because it's not homogenous state and needs lot of compromises to keep internal stability. Only two Han-dominated provinces of Yunnan and Sichuan are dwelling together with Tibet and Sinkiang, so I imagined Republic concept being rather based on Five Races form of nationalism (in broader sense due to pan-Chinese national liberation agenda while in internal matters Tibet enjoys cultural/religious autonomy while Sinkiang is more like Ma clique style of KMT loyalist autonomy with Uyghurs providing some of most elite units for National Revolutionary Army).

@Kaiser_Mobius Indeed the situation is quite good, altough Qing armies should not be underestimated...

General Battlefield report
War of Republican Aggression
Yunnan-Sichuan Theatres of Operations
Operational Performance of East Asian Army,
Guard Corps and Expeditionary Forces
February 2008 - August 2008

Taking the Yunnan province was a messy business for AOG forces, but when the first outskirts of Tibetan lands were reached, it seemed that the hell has just begun. Even harsher terrain, fierce resistance of Republican forces and hostile reactions from local population that rose to arms in great numbers after Dalai Lama's call for defense of regional autonomy that Republic has provided for so many years, all that posed a great threat to AOG advance in this area. Altough AOG planes were dropping propaganda leaflets with promises of Tibetan inclusion in generous and benevolent sphere of order and prosperity that General East Asian Company provides to all of its constituents, Tibetans seemed not to be too convinced by those words, especially not in sight of multiethnic troops of East Asian Army, Guards and expeditionary forces. The violent behavior of Triad-dominated Garde units brought the horror stories to farthest villages and served as one of best weapons of anti-AOG propaganda. When supreme command adressed this problem, it was already too late. Units from Ceylon that were sent forward in order to promote ''Buddhist unity'' and cool down the tensions were not threated any better after all the things already done under joint AOG banner and were thrown back to Yunnan bases in serie of embarrassing defeats.

ScreenSave24_zpsmstu9tt8.png

Once again, helicopter corps had to be summoned to soften up the Republican positions. While waiting for more news from Tibet, men in joint command could entertain with reports about the economic failures from shiny example of freedom and prosperity on the other side of Pacific that NCR was supposed to be. It was no secret that North American media were making fun of ''pathetic criminal enterprise in South China'' with daily stories about supposed corruption and human right abuses. Serves them right, those Canadian puppets.

ScreenSave25_zpsrkezhuhz.png

However, some bad news from Berlin sphere of influence keep arriving as well. Armed revolt knocked over Dutch Guiana and lead to declaration of People's Goverment of Suriname. Local Dutch-trained security forces were no match for numerous rebels that appeared from distant areas, most likely encouraged by support from radical groups operating in Gran Colombia and Amazonia, and swarmed the key parts of once peaceful European colony. Berlin Pact is not too attracted to idea of launching risky overseas operation for liberation of this area and so is not even Amsterdam as respective owner that has enough trouble in East Indies already. Altough Berlin Pact made a vow to liberate the lost territory and expressed full solidarity with United Kingdom of the Netherlands, not much was done to really adress this problem at this moment. Another blow to Berlin...

ScreenSave26_zpsdwd2cz68.png

At least the socialist-oriented Arab Nationalists, another bunch of populist cousins and useful idiots for Syndicalist Internationale that range from Chinese Republicans that we're currently fighting, to Arab nationalist Left and Neo-Mossadeghist Iran that are united in their hatred for our Ottoman allies, are now causing trouble to foolish French regime of megalomaniac military dictator Charles Dassault that is presenting his political cluster as sole legitimate representative of French people but can't even keep its African possessions in order. Revolts in French Tripolitania, without doubt ignited with help from Egypt, are taking place right now. Foreign Legion will likely put them down as usual, but at what price?

ScreenSave27_zpsiu3pfiea.png

Finally, AOG forces managed to push into Tibet with help of brute force, with Tigress' Guards spearheading under cloak of air support. When things got too tense even for well-equiped and ruthless Tigers, sources on the ground were reporting that Triads were forcing general assault infantry and confused foreign troops as meatshields in risky operations like crossing exposed or opaque positions with big risks of enemy sneak attacks, ambushes, booby traps and other dangers, or to clear or storm dangerous sectors which could not be cleaned with help of superior firepower and would make precious elite units too jeopardized to ''unhonorable risks''. However, joint command decided that such complaints won't be taken into account too seriously due to their delicate political balance which is not to be bothered by shallow stories, hearsays and lacking evidence. Higher casulties among light infantry and other soft formations are to be blamed solely on challenging terrain and fanatical enemy activity. Families of those unfortunate casulties will receive decent financial token of Company's gratitude for restitution of their loss and posthumous medal for acts of valor performed by deceased ones in such violent theatre of operation.
ScreenSave28_zpsqf4a3ohc.png

Riwoche was finally taken at great cost of personel and material but road to Lhasa was now finally open.

ScreenSave29_zps3dcfnnqe.png

Tibetan regional capital of Lhasa was reserved for air assault operation, once again executed by distinguished helicopter corps of East Asian Army (OAA/EAA). Republican armor was being stashed into narrov alleys of residental districts and even in temple yards what forced joint command to strikes against those targets even at the risk of damage to such structures. The value of military targets and abuse of civilian infrastructure for their protection forced helicopter units into messy search and elimination of sneaky enemy targets what caused heavy damage to city of Lhasa. However, the Potala Palace was ordered to be exempt from any attacks that would cause serious damage to this structure. It seems that even Dalai Lama was aware of that as AOG air assault infantry squads that infiltrated the palace without any use of force found the leader of Tibetan people peacefully waiting for them, surrounded by a group of his loyal aides and advisers.

ScreenSave30_zpsgjeah2r3.png

While the rest of air assault forces together with incoming reinforcements from other units continued to clear Lhasa from remaining pockets of armed enemy resistance, the Tibetan leaders explained that they interpreted AOG actions concerning Potala as silent expression of wish for constructive dialogue between Tibet and AOG. According to that, Palace was ordered to be vacated of armed presence and thus remained the oasis of peace in burning city. Republican officials insisted on evacuation of top Lamas to safer areas like Sinkiang or even friendly India, but Dalai Lama who saw the brutal advance of AOG forces trough Tibet decided that he will stay and try to find the best arrangement possible in order to secure the brighter future for Tibetan people.

Air assault team in Potala Palace secured the area and waited for instructions from supreme authority. Special envoy of President-General soon landed in more or less pacified Lhasa where heavy AOG troops presence on the streets was showing the clear image of strict military occupation and together with Lamas the groundwork for initial cooperation was laid. Tibetan leadership remained confined to Palace and was ordered to wait for formal negotiations about the status of Tibet to start with AOG authorities. In sign of good will, Dalai Lama called for Tibetans to lay down arms and it seemed this public announcement had quite a weight as AOG forces managed to speed up their advances in region while remaining Republican forces were engaged in what was seen as organized retreat to North. With Tibet rapidly continuing to fall into hands of AOG forces, the joint command set their eyes on sole remaining Republican region of Sinkiang where elite Uyghur units were keeping Qing Forces at bay in the Northeast. After fall of Tibet, Yunnan and Sichuan, Republic was practically demoted to Sinkiang regional autonomy that now pretty much acted as independent Uyghur state by everything but a name and with presence of a bunch of Republican officials and armies that managed to retreat into this area in order to make a last stand for the dying Republic. Just like devoted Republicans, Uyghurs showed no desire to let their freedom to be taken away and harsh fight is awaiting both sides in incoming days. The race for Urumqi is now on.

800px-Tibet_Potala_Palace.JPG

Potala Palace in Lhasa and nearby surroundings were the only area that remained intact during heavy fighting for the city.

It's interesting, watching the Empire let AOG fall it's own way. It's like they regret the whole original 1920's Intervention. And the AOG in turn is becoming a new sort of China, and a new sort of Germany. It attracts the ambitious, those disgusted with the state of affairs at home, and many in between.

I have a feeling Tigress may be getting too far from her leash though. I don't know if she can be reigned in if this state of affairs continue.

I wonder if the Dalai Lama should be a bit more cautious about dealing with the AoG. I could see Teufel or his Triad friends perhaps backstabbing him in some way, then again trying to go after the Dalai Lama could bring about a national uprising or a painful insurgency at the very least in the heights of the Himalayas.

@der Kriegsherr Frankly, I'm not sure if I really want to share borders with all those Red states...that socialist India on steroids is frightening enough, but the Bear is even more scary...

@IconOfEvi Once again, well observed! AOG is really turning in something like that, and even worse is that nobody can be sure which group among all those angry apostates of old world order will eventually come on the top. Kaiserreich and South China are still well connected and influence each other's actions, and those two countries together can move a world. In what direction, I don't know.

@Kurt_Steiner True, poor old chaps in Berlin must be really confused about all that!

@Kaiser_Mobius That's all very true, everyone is playing with fire here and we'll surely see more of Tibetan issues coming to stage soon.

@Bergioyn They still fared quite well in face of fighting both AOG, and Qing Empire with its allies.

Thanks for comments, I hope those who celebrate enjoy the Easter holidays, best wishes from my side as well!

ScreenSave31_zpsfzcxstgl.png

- NEIN NEN NEIN!!! Verdammte Schweinerei! I want a dirty bomb assembled and smacked on Beijing, scrape the last barrel of waste from our reactors...

- Please calm down, President-General... - General Wulf has not seen Teufel in such rage since the very start of their common career. Of course fierce anger was not uncommon for his boss in critical moments when cold plotting had to withdraw in sight of frustration outbursts, but current situation really passed the boiling point.

- Calm down??? Me!? Our Fallschirmjägers are sitting in Hangzhou, and East Asian Army is your responsibility! I barely prevented Garde from claiming airborne units for themselves and you have them playing drinking games on beach while Qing troops are being airlifted with help from Japan to Urumqi after taking the city with several divisions of paratroopers?

- We don't have such capacities yet...if Germany would help maybe we could do that, but alone, no way Sir...

- I'm not interested in your excuses! If I wouldn't fear Leang and Lao Ce taking full control, I'd remove you from your position this second!

- If this is of any help, Qing Empire and Japanese were not racing only with us but also with Soviets who were preparing to intervene in Republican favor and take Sinkiang under their protection what would practically make us share the border with Soviet Republic.

- We'll have to face Reds sooner or later as well, so I don't care. And we can't even make further moves into Sinkiang ourself now with Republicans surrendering to Qing Emperor and handing over all they had left to them!

- Republicans had no choice, their entire leadership was captured during airborne assault on Urumqi.

800px-JGSDF_paratrooper_%26_C-1.JPG

Imperial Chinese Army Air airborne corps paratroopers dropping from Japanese-issued Kawasaki cargo aircraft over Urumqi.

- I know, and this is even more embarrassing for us! We shed seas of blood to get a bunch of rocks in Tibet and useless Dalai Lama who was waiting for us with tea and cookies. We must act with vengence now or lose our face in front of entire world!

- I think you're overestimating world opinion, Sir. We're still doing better than our Metropolis is. They couldn't even retake the Surinam yet.

- The Berlin and its incompentence, yes! Tokyo is covering Qing backs for every good or bad thing Beijing does on its own, but Berlin...this must change soon or we'll all be doomed! - Teufel's anger seemed to shift towards the Germany what was surely good development in Wulf's eyes.

- So we better wait a bit with direct action against Qing regime, Sir?

wg3_zpsjclhmt7j.png

- I guess so. I really don't want to see IJN cut us from outside world at this time. They could strangle us by blocking Strait of Malacca already. But we should really start preparing for such situation as this day will come. I can sense it somewhere in that damned foggy future...but to secure it for us, we must prepare ourselves well first. There is no time to lose.

- Affirmative, Sir! You won't be dissapointed again.

- You better be right, or it will not end bad just for you. Dismissed.

I kinda feel for Wulf. Denied by this all the backbiting, and trying to turn his pseudo-country into something more.

Maybe AOG can spend some money advertising in Germany and the wider Pact for attracting talent to move to the AOG? Sure you probably won't get a lot of talent from other places, since Netherlands has her Indies still, and I see a lot of the places like PLC people going to Afrika for the abundant farming land, but at the very least, since Germany and Danubia and the Pact are having economic problems, you'll get quite a lot of experts, techteams, military units etc willing to move? You can sell it to Berlin as a win win, since they don't have worry about paying upkeep for their extra troop numbers in these otherwise not very troubled times, they don't have to worry about many social welfare obligations to these long term unemployed. You take care of their travel and housing expenses, and you may be fine. And the AOG is certainly less troubled than the CAE, where the fighting actively raging for a long time has put off at least some prospective migrants. Maybe you can even rope Indochina in on this scheme, and pay for their advertisements in the Kingdom of France. Another place to poach may be the Ottoman Empire's many dissident minorities.

Also, see if Berlin isn't willing to offload some of it's older Kriegsmarine to you? Bullshit it through as coastal defense or something. It's not like fiction can beat reality, where they got an aircraft carrier saying it gonna be 'a floating casino, honest!'. :D

Although you couldn't get your hands on Sinkiang, the AoG has gained alot of territory, and you have secured the most vital areas of the now dead RoC. Let the Qing make themselves feeling good for seizing a bunch of worthless desert and mountains, it will just be more territory for you to take away from them when the time comes to attack the Qing Empire and their Japanese puppetmasters.

@Kurt_Steiner Hehe, that is probably the cutest response in history of comments in my AAR threads. :D

@IconOfEvi Those are some good ideas, altough lack of manpower isn't really the worst problem for AOG. Under Von Esling's administration, AOG turned out as some kind of this universe version of Singapore, a merchant state based on long-term economic growth but with abundant sources of manpower, both unqualified and educated (AOG even funded quality education to talented cadres in philantropic but pragmatic way). It was basically experimental sweatshop for Berlin somewhere until end of 1960s when reformist governors started started to initiate policies which were supposed to stabilize increasingly unruly society which couldn't be governed by mere colonial protectorate/special economic zone. So such entity had to gain legitimacy in order to survive, especially in relation to regional rivals with both attractive ideologies and relative prosperity (Republican nationalism with socialist policies, Qing neoconservativism and Japanese pan-Asian/anti-European agenda paired with economic miracle etc.). So AOG promoted kind of company loyalty in general social sense instead pushing for mere abstract allegiance to distant German Empire, but this loyalty had to be bought also by promise of long-term stability and prosperity for population. That's why Von Esling's system proved to be so fragile when economic trouble came to South China (altough it was partially destabilized by backroom conspiracy as well). When money stopped to flow, people mostly grabbed the ideas that suited them the most, altough in the end internal conflict was won by those who carried the biggest sticks. For now system sticks together mostly with help of brute repression and some pragmatic trading, so it's not most useful to attract qualified force from distant states except those who are willing to take a risk. Tight security prevented the worst form of brain drain as only best prepared managed to flee in first days of instability before the borders got sealed, and those were later pretty much replaced by foreign adventurers, mostly European mercenaries and political radicals. Teufel's biggest worry is how the extract the most from existing manpower pool in face of rivalry with Triads without pushing society too hard not to trigger general revolt and subsequent collapse of existing society. So it's kind of stick and carrots game for now. Propaganda also helps a bit, but Teufel is slowly building up his legitimacy, mostly with his adventures abroad that give population some sense of being part of bigger game. General immigration campaign from Europe could be also useful, but AOG regime is a bit afraid of letting in too many unchecked people which Berlin could use as spies, as you know current relations with Metropolis are not the best. It's a bit easier to cooperate with neighbourhood, there already is strong cooperation with very friendly Indochina in place and it surely features some immigration schemes as well (Garde already snatched some members of foreign expeditionary troops for itself by lucrative job offers). As for converting even more old stuff into something useful, that is the AOG idea of getting more firepower, so you shouldn't be surprised if some overhault older stuff comes to your way again. SuperHinds proved more than useful in recent war and they give away good example for future projects, especially in face of lack of foreign support.

Thanks for comments, everyone!

Potala Palace, Lhasa

Dalai Lama sat in front of microphone to wait for the signal for his direct radio broadcast to people of Tibet to start. Arrangment with AOG was not really of his liking. The AOG propagated ''fair bargain for Tibet'' was pretty much a mere Teufel's ultimatum, formally known as ''Agreement of the General Presidency of AOG and the Local Government of Tibet on Measures for the Peaceful Incorporation of Tibet'', or the ''Fifteen Point Agreement for the Peaceful Incorporation of Tibet'' in short. Once again he gazed into papers in front of him where the ''agreement'' waited for him to be publically declared. His signature and signatures of other key Tibetan officials were resting beneath the text, marking the act's coming to life. Broadcasted promulgation that was waiting for him was not constitutive element, but was the key step in getting the attention of faithful population. Teufel demanded it. After all he saw the power of Dalai Lama's words when people had to rise to fight, or to lay down their arms when needed. But now he was just a tool of powerhungry foreigners, altough he hoped to achieve at least slightly better terms than those existing under relatively benevolent KMT rule when facing ruthless advance of AOG forces.

''Fifteen Point Agreement for the Peaceful Incorporation of Tibet''

1. The Tibetan people shall unite and drive out hostile republican, socialist and reactionary forces from Tibet; the Tibetan people shall join the family of free East Asian nations under benevolent jurisdiction of General East Asian Company (AOG).
2. The local government of Tibet shall actively assist the East Asian Army (OAA) to enter Tibet and consolidate the national defenses.
3. In accordance with the policy laid down in the Common Agreeement, the Tibetan people have the right of exercising national regional autonomy under the unified leadership of the General Presidency of the AOG.
4. The central authorities will not alter the existing political system in Tibet, except in points that are coliding with general principles and regulations of AOG; lawful rules of Company institutions derogate contradictive Tibetan legislation and other acts of local goverment automatically.
5. Tibetan officials of various ranks shall hold office as usual. The central authorities will not alter the established status, functions and powers of the Dalai Lama and other Tibetan dignitaries; excercising those powers in contradiction with the general principles and regulations of the Company consequents in such unlawful local acts being void ipso iure.
6. The policy of freedom of religious belief laid down in the common agreement shall be carried out. The religious beliefs, customs and habits of the Tibetan people shall be respected and lama monasteries shall be protected. The central authorities will not effect a change in the income of the monasteries.
7. Tibetan troops that served in National Revolutionary Army (NRA) shall be incorporated into East Asian Army (OAA) and become part of the defence force of AOG.
8. The spoken and written language and school education of the Tibetan nationality shall be developed step by step in accordance with the actual conditions in Tibet.
9. Tibetan agriculture, livestock raising, industry and commerce shall be developed step by step and the people's livelihood shall be improved step by step in accordance with the actual conditions in Tibet and the common needs of General East Asian Company.
10. In so far as former pro-republican and pro-Kuomintang (KMT) officials resolutely sever relations with republicanism and the KMT and do not engage in sabotage or resistance, they may continue to hold office irrespective of their past.
11. The OAA entering Tibet shall abide by all the above-mentioned policies and shall shall not arbitrarily take the property away from the people; this does not rule out retaliations for acts of sabotage or resistance; confiscation of property as compensation for damage done to AOG interests is in full discretion of respective field commander.
12. The AOG shall have centralised handling of all external affairs of the area of Tibet; and there will be peaceful co-existence with neighbouring countries and establishment and development of fair commercial and trading relations with them on the basis of equality, mutual benefit and mutual respect for territory and sovereignty.
13, In order to ensure the implementation of this agreement, the AOG shall set up an Administrative Board and a Military Area HQ in Tibet and – apart from the personnel sent there by the East Asian Army command – shall absorb as many local Tibetan personnel as possible to take part in the work. Local Tibetan personnel taking part in the military units and Administrative Board may include patriotic elements from the local government of Tibet, various districts and various principal monasteries; the name list shall be set forth after consultation between the representatives designated by the AOG and various quarters concerned and shall be submitted to the AOG for appointment.
14. Funds needed by the Administrative Board, the Military Area HQ and the OAA quartering in Tibet shall be provided by the AOG. The local government of Tibet should assist the OAA in the purchase and transport of food and other daily necessities.
15. This agreement shall come into force immediately after signature and seals are affixed to it.

Doesen't sound too bad on paper, altough even there too many flexible terms are dwelling. AOG regulations are not a stable anchor to be really trusted, and nothing really tackles usual arbitrary behavior of AOG organs...what about those who are not mentioned in that deal? Especially AOG Guards with their criminal behavior proved their true nature during fighting already...all that I got is Teufel's oral guarantee that he'll keep feared Tigress and her Triad cubs on short leash, most likely totally outside of Tibet if possible. If I understand it right, their supreme leader is not on best terms with own Praetorian Guard. Most interesting...maybe this can be exploited in the future, but for now it's best to keep low profile and prevent as much damage to our people as possible...

- Time to start, old man. - The OAA officer who overseed Dalai Lama got a signal from soldier at the background desk that was full of telecommunications' instruments.

This is how everything will look like from now on then. Prisoner in my own home, surrounded by my powerless aides in this quasti-local goverment while Board and Army decide about everything...except for some rites I'm supposed to perform. What is religious power worth without political background that should protect it? They said nothing yet, but nothing prevents them seizing the monasteries and eradicating people's faith for some obscure reason that might arise to offer them excuse for that.

Dalai Lama prepared to start with speech. - It's on. - reported the soldier.

- Stop this nonsense now! - Dalai Lama's brother, a skilled organizer with great influence among Tibetan security aparatus, and was now supposed
to continue his work in new administration under AOG mentorship, violently bursted into room with small group of armed Tibetans in traditional outfits, some even in monk robes. They were holding various weapons, from small firearms like old German pistols likely left behind by some enthusiastic expedition seeking origin of supreme race decades ago, to ancient-looking bolt action rifles from late 19th century and all the way to Soviet assault rifles from the abandoned surplus of National Revolutionary Army. A few even wielded blades and battons in threatening way. Did they find a hidden stash in palace? What's happening? - This agreement is valid no more! We will not be puppets of ville demons, declare the liberation of Tibet now and forever!

- Damn idiots! - AOG troopers pulled out their guns but only a single shot that wounded one of monks into shoulder was fired before Tibetans quickly took care of AOG forces in the room. Those who survived the shooting were clubbed to death by angry rebels. - Your Holiness, you're free now. Lhasa is in our hands, resistance cells have activated and people revolted against the occupiers. AOG brought this on itself with that criminal deal, they should have offered much more to gain the privilege of our cooperation. This was supposed to be autonomy and self-rule? Better to die fighting than to accept this slavery! Your Holiness, I beg you, call on the people to rise up everywhere, we have cells ready to act in every village!

Dalai Lama could do the only thing possible in this situation. Altough he feared of the consequences, there was no way back. He made an appeal to people of Tibet to rise up once again. He wasn't prepared for that in advance, but now it was his duty to take the responsibility of protecting freedom of his people. There was a hope for Tibet, they just had to act fast enough before AOG reorganizes and attacks once more. India has assured the Tibetan security officials behind this revolt that they will take as much of the liberated country as possible under its protection if rebels manage to take control of at least some of the key areas and manage to hold off the counter-attacking AOG forces, forcing them into stalemate at fortified defense lines and chokepoints. Most of AOG combat troops headed North to secure border with Qing Empire with which AOG had biggest trouboe at the moment and their lines in South were thus stretched thin. If broad strip of Tibetan homeland bordering Himalayas can be secured together with capital of Lhasa for enough time for Indian forces to prepare demanding military takeover of those areas without engaging AOG troops, at least part of Tibet might be saved. As for the rest, nothing material is eternal and so will not be the corrupted AOG. This was the start of August Uprising in Tibet.

wg4_zpsijvpjzeu.png

Revolt that has started in Lhasa had rapidly spread to other parts of the country after Dalai Lama's speech signalized the start of general uprising. While well-guarded areas in Northern borderlands where heavy presence of combat troops acted as anti-Qing deterrent proved to be out of reach for rebels from the very start, the rebellion went much better in other places. AOG unified command was soon warned by intelligence service about Indian plans and ordered all troops in area to finish the operations as soon as possible no matter on the costs. Stalemate was not an option. Additional reinforcements were sent towards Tibetan Plateau as well. In Riwoche area, rebels were victims of the bad timing as they just hit into retreating mass of AOG regulars and foreign expeditionary forces that were being redeployed to other areas.

The helicopter corps which was supposed to watch over suspicious activity of neighbouring states and potential insurgents in vicinity of Sumdo was now summoned to provide its valuable service once again. Cleaning mountainous areas of sneaky enemies was speciality of flying tanks and air cavalry that followed them.

ScreenSave34_zpskljs7cej.png

No matter in which sector they were located, AOG troops came under heavy insurgent attacks. Tibetan strategy was to cause delay everywhere it's possible, no matter on strength of enemy forces. This way, key provinces designated as strongholds of free Tibet would get more time to consolidate rebel control and prepare for defense.

ScreenSave35_zpsrdx6josr.png

Successful revolt in Chamdo surprised AOG authorities and invoked great psychological effect for both sides, leaving Teufel without time for political bickering. Future risks had to be neglected.. With helicopter corps engaged far in Western areas, and bunch of regulars stuck in Chamdo and other combat and logistical quagmires, Guards combat corps lead by ruthless Tigress had to be put on offensive. Right into the heart of Tibetan resistance.

ScreenSave36_zpsixsunxn4.png

Brutal attack on Lhasa that didn't spare even Potala Palace with fighting, caught Tibetans in middle of the proces of declaring the city capital of self-styled free state of Tibet which was supposed to eventually ask for Indian military aid. Guards combat units that didn't lack own armored and air support stormed the ravaged city with elite shock units. Dalai Lama and other Tibetan top brass barely managed to escape the city before the feared special forces regiment of ''Fuzhou Tigers'' assaulted damaged palace from the air. Defenders had put up a good fight but weren't match to ruthless Guards who continued to eliminate last pockets of resistance trough search of every corner.

ScreenSave37_zpssyn56rgy.png

Reports of Guards' brutal ransacking of conquered Lhasa sent shockwaves of fear and anger all over the Tibet and beyond. Indian hands were now tied as Tibetans failed to defend their future capital from which they could drain legitimacy for international recognition and establish ties with other nations. India could only offer some more covert support for rebels while intervening in such fluid theatre of operations was not an option anymore due to fear of full scale war with AOG and its allies. Meanwhile, the angry masses in many parts of India demanded strong response against AOG oppression of helpless Buddhist people of Tibet, protests were especially massive in Burma, the place of origin of incumbent head of Indian state what caused even more quakes in already fragile political landscape, teared between moderate-minded chair's office and executive goverment, dominated by hardline leftists.

ScreenSave39_zpskhzr6bnw.png

The panicked group of rebels fleeing Lhasa to the East had hit into slightly confused formations of expeditionary forces from Indochina and Ceylon on their way, putting up such a fierce fight not to be pushed back into embrace of Tigress' Guards that foreign allies of AOG were forced into unorderly retreat all the way back to what was used to be known as the City of Luxi before it was renamed to Mangshi. President-General Teufel changed city name back to its ancient form in order to erase all memories on valiant Republican defense of this sector in prior war between General East Asian Company and the Republic of China.

ScreenSave40_zps5vpxmqao.png

Every last chance for potential Indian intervention was shattered by horde of OAA gunships and air cavalry that secured the long strip of land on border with India.

ScreenSave41_zps2wul2ihq.png

When the last batch of Tibetan insurgents in rebellious region was caught and eliminated East of Lhasa, the uprising was declared to be defeated by AOG authorities. Tibetan leaders and many insurgents managed to retreat to India where Tibetan goverment in exile was set up in Dharamsala while Free Tibetan Army was started to be raised from combat-able exiles. AOG intelligence later learned that this formation acts as a special division of Indian Army while its covert ops branch is closely associated with Indian security services in execution of illegal actions of sabotage, hostile propaganda, espionage and violent insurgency in Tibet province.

ScreenSave42_zpscnar8jnq.png

With Tigress' Guards Corps entrenched in Lhasa, President-General Teufel had no other choice but to except reality on the ground. Internal conflict of such magnitude would tear AOG apart and prying Lhasa out of Triad hands would not be worth of its prize. Instead, a deal was forged in order to defuse the tensions between major factions of AOG regime. Leang was not attempted to be forced out of Lhasa and was even allowed to set up main HQ of Guards combat forces in the city what effectively made Tibet Province personal fiefdom of the Triads. Like in other areas under Triad influence where their presence had spread into the vicinity of coastal cities they already controlled, Leang, Lao Ce and their friends in Board of Directors also managed to push trough their candidates for governorship and other administrative offices in Tibet as well. Tibetan autonomy was fully erased and territory administrated as a mere province. The only self-rule present was the one of Leang and her cronies. Tibetan people spoke of her rule in greatest fear and in only in greatest secrecy they dared to curse her name. When she was not refered only as ''She'' when danger of being heard was still present, the term used among those who shared the greatest bond of trust among themselves could be discovered. What was a honorable nickname for her was expression of hate for oppressed as they coined the new name out of it for that wicked woman: The Demon Tigress or Rakshasi in short. The later term in Sanskrit symbolized the female demonic being from Hindu mythology that found its place in Buddhism as well. Her minions who loved to style themselves as Tigers so much thus also got suitable nickname as they became known as Rakshasas. However, there was not much entertainment in such name-giving as it made their behavior even more scary than it already was. In fact when heard of those terms, Leang's Guards proudly sported their new nicknames in terrified enviroment and even increased their cruelty in order to justify them.

wg5_zpss17iudmj.png

There was not much that could prevent unfriendly attitude of Garde towards the local population. Big portion of actions was in their full discretion, one more ton of them was in gray area. For the rest, the general regulations were not of much help. Some like rules of retaliation were even used by Guards combat units analogous to regular army while for most of abuses there was no real control that could prevent them. And where there was legal background, it was vehemently exploited in what was dubed as service to the Company. Due to Tibetan revolt instigated by old local authorities which had both sacral and secular power in their hands, the large mass of property that used to be under control of defunct regime was declared to be confiscated from the enemies of the AOG. Some other goverment might still continue to act as good guardian at least for object of great cultural value, but General Presidency did not worry about philanthropy in those circumstances. Decree that justified commercial activity in favor of replenishing needs of Company institutions (which were pretty much only of Triad origin in Tibet region) trough confiscation of property from public enemies. Of course Teufel's sign came only after the solid cut from traffic with those goods was arranged for him. If nothing else, the money dosen't stink.

2008_China%27s_Tyranny_Violence_Against_Tibetan_Monks_after_March_Uprising_%E4%B8%AD%E5%9C%8B%E5%9C%A8%E4%B8%89%E6%9C%88%E8%B5%B7%E7%BE%A9%E6%8A%97%E6%9A%B4%E5%BE%8C%E4%BB%A5%E6%A5%B5%E6%AC%8A%E6%AD%A6%E5%8A%9B%E6%8E%A7%E5%88%B6%E8%A5%BF%E8%97%8F-%E5%9C%96%E5%8D%9A%E5%83%A7%E4%BE%B6.jpg
Tibetan monks in detention of Internal Security Troops of the AOG Guards Corps. Monastic people were among their favorite targets as they were useful for extraction of information about hidden relics and other valuable cultural goods. Moreover, those from wealthier monasteries were often used to gain ransom money, formally called ''financial guarantee for security risks'', or simply ''bailout'' from their superiors if they were found to be relevant for religious service or generally valuable in their community. They were mostly held under false accusations or even without justification in less transparent cases. In general, Garde endorsed oppression of monks already for the reason of those people being the symbol of local identity that struggled to survive under pressure of corporate regime what was already constituting potential threat of resistance. Photo was leaked by rights group of Tibetan students living abroad.

Good update, thats one way to put the Dalai Lama and Tibet in their place. Kinda reminds me of Kyrat from Farcry4 with the Rhakshasas, looting of artifacts for financial gain, etc. Now Teuful and the Tigress need to make sure no upstart Tibetan expat's show up from America to ruin the day. :D
