I think most people would agree that peace deals in hoi4 are broken in every aspect, but the thing that irks me the most is the propose peace deal basically being unusable. Whilst I get that it might be hard to implement effectively I have come up with (read as: appropriated from a currently used feature) an idea that I think would work really well.
Stealing the China/Japan peace option.
To elaborate a bit more I feel that if you're at war with another nation that's cores are on a different continent to you, if you take all conjoined colonial land (for example Suriname from Britain as Brazil, all of the Egyptian/Sudanese/other bits of Africa as South Africa), and hold the land for a certain amount of time (which could be variable based on the attacking/defending nation's war support) without being pushed back then the peace out button should become usable, and it should allow nations to peace out with the current gains they've made. Of course, if you start taking other bits of land or the enemy retake a bit of land (or take some of your land) the timer should either freeze or reset and freeze until you move out of their core land, take all the new colonial land or retake your own land.
I get that this is a ww2 sim and because of that its all about fighting to the death etc. But nothing irks me more than when playing a game as China you have to take out the allies and Portugal just to gain your port cities back, or how as South Africa you have to take out the entirity of nations like Portugal just to gain some African land. Irl these conflicts would've had some resolution if South Africa had managed to kick Portugal out of Africa, or Venezuela had managed to kick the British out of Suriname/Guyana.
As long as the system was tested to make sure it wasn't abused (not allowing nations to take core land off others, making sure the wait times are long enough so you can't just blitz bits of land without giving the mother nation a chance to bolster their defenses/reinvade. Etc.) I think this system would drastically improve the game, allowing many nations to actually go and make conquests and gains that literally every other paradox game allows (and rightly so).
What do you guys think?
