Chapter 26: The End of the War 46-39 BCE
Chapter 26: The End of the War 46-39 BCE

The Sack of Oq Yqayo, 40 BCE

Even with the victories of the Battles of Calakmul and Chichen Itza, the rebels had control of most of the lands loyal to Q'uk'umatz, so for the next five years he ordered his troops to liberate every city taken by the enemies, and of course this could be done only in the dry season, because the heavy rains of the rest of the year made warfare impossible in the dense forests of Yucatan…

As his forces liberated his lands, Q'uk'umatz marched north, destroying the remaning forces of his enemies while most civilians were tired of this senseless war and revolted against their lieges, soon, he was sieging Oq Yqayo the old capital city of his ancestors, the Odiq’e.

9FblAFm.jpg

161 years ago Zinnridi Yujnegi, his great-great-great-great grandfather founded this city at the north of the Yucatan Peninsula after buying lands from a minor mayan ahau and crossing the Great Sea looking for a home to his people. Since then, the Odiq’e had expanded their influence in the region, the reign of Q'uk'umatz was the success of the strategy that his ancestors had developed for nearly 200 years,

R’igual Yujnegi, now called Q'uk'umatz, the first Ahau of the Ma’ya’b, was aware that he was an Odiq’e like the ones he was killing in his way to the gates of Oq Yqayo, but he would not forgive the treachery of his own people as it jeopardized the effort that his ancestors made across many generations, he was the future of his people and the Odiq’e, just a failed experiment of the past.

O6yB16O.jpg

As the city burned and the statue of Zinnridi Yujnegi was destroyed by his soldiers, he promised to his ancestors that this act of brutality would not be in vain. His people would return in time to their ancestral homelands and make their old enemies pay for everything they did to the Ishfani.

The price of betrayal. Tikal 39 BCE

For nearly ten years, the mayans of Yucatan were fighting among themselves for a petty reason almost forgotten, now, Q'uk'umatz the Ahau of the Ma’ya’b, was on the top of the great pyramid of Tikal sorrounded by his priests, he was happy because he had solidified his hold into the throne of the Mayans, but sad because he lost two sons and many valuable warriors in this senseless war.

The common people below, in the great plaza of Tikal were chanting his name, expecting the blood of the rebel nobles to be spilled in a ritual as old as the city itself, this was the only way peace could be restored to the region and the betrayers must pay in blood to their goods for their defiance.

As they had not only betrayed Q'uk'umatz, the rightful ruler of the Ma’ya’b, they had provoked a violent conflict that costed the lives of many mayans, and of course, the wrath of the gods, according to the priests.

So one after another, the nobles of Kaan Pech, Chichen Itzá and the Odiq’e were sacrified to the gods, and of course, the rulers of these lands would be replaced later with people loyal to the throne. Many souls of noble birth were offered to the gods, and for three weeks, the people of Tikal would be celebrating the end of this bloody war.
pkg09P8.jpg

Now Q'uk'umatz would rule in peace for many years, rebuilding the economy of the realm, and of course, preparing his people for the next great wars to achieve total supremacy on the mayan world.

Chapter 27: The war after a long Peace, 36- 7 BCE
Chapter 27: The war after a long Peace, 36- 11 BCE

The long peace, 36-11 BCE
Many years of peace followed the end of the civil war, and Q'uk'umatz rebuilt his domain in peace for all these years, dealing with these who plotted against him as he had done earlier, so he had plenty of sacrifice as he controlled every rebellious leader before they could raise their banner in rebellion.

v8mHO5O.jpg

Imprisoning and sacrificing the future rebels its the easier way to prevent civil wars, i believe.
In the spring of 21 BCE, Q'uk'umatz ordered the construction of a big pyramid to honor himself, big stones were carried from the mountainous west and the best builders were hired so the Pyramid of Q'uk'umatz would become the most beautiful and the biggest of all the mayan world.

At the same time, the “Order of Q'uk'umatz” was created, 1500 sons of the most notable mayan families could join the new army created to protect Tikal, these warriors would be trained by the military elite of the Kingdom of Ma’ya’b to conquer the enemies of the realm, of course it was a position of great honor.

Fvfp193.jpg

Finally, in 11 BCE the long peace ended when Muuk’naal, grandson of Q'uk'umatz and son of the man that was mutilated at the battle of Calakmul back in 47 BCE, asked his grandad to press his claim over the Ahauil of Coatzalcoalcos.

wZBnik8.jpg

Q'uk'umatz summoned all the troops of the realm to Tikal, and he marched towards the northern Kingdom with great speed, so he could win this war before the rain season began.

The battle of Chinkultikara and the comet of Q'uk'umatz, 11 BCE
The armies of both parties were reunited at the outskirts of the town of Chinkultikara, it seemed that this war was to be decided on a single battle as the best men of the two realms were about to fight to decide the future of the region.

As the battle progressed, the men of Ma’ya’b cornered the Ahau of Coatzalcoalcos and murdered him in battle, the enemy was now leaderless, but they ignored the situation and continued fighting.

QytMRNR.jpg

But as the forces of the Ma’ya’b were about to win the battle, an enemy commander crushed the helmet of Q'uk'umatz, his men believed that he was about to die, but somehow… his paralyzed corpse was still alive.

1kKlupi.png

As the great conqueror of the mayans closed his eyes and his men won the battle, a strange star appeared on the heavens, the priests said that was the soul of Q'uk'umatz abandoning his body to travel to the lands of his ancestors at the east of the great sea, so they called the strange star “The comet of Q'uk'umatz”.

OXTwS5x.jpg

In our timeline its known as the Halley Comet, but for them will be known as the "Comet of Q'uk'umatz"
His grandson Muuk’naal won the war easily after the tragic battle of Chinkultikara, and from now on he would rule upon the realm of Coatzalcoalcos.

As Q'uk'umatz was in a coma, his loyal council ruled over his lands from now on.

Chapter 28: The succession crisis, 1 CE
Chapter 28: The succession crisis, 1 CE

“The death of the great conqueror will be remembered forever, as he will be the best ruler the Yujnegi had ever produced. a comet will have his name, and he will return three times before we could sail back to the lands of our ancestors, so even if we become mayans and forget our roots we must remember this: Three times the comet will return, and after that, we will travel back to our old homeland”.

-Dido Yujnegi, the prophecies, scroll seven, 127 BCE.

For seven years the council ruled in peace while Q'uk'umatz soul traveled across the skyes, until apparently he killed himself.

OQrW2gY.jpg

The priests burned his body in a great ceremony so it can reunite with his owner in the heavens. This marked the end of an era for the Mayans of Tikal, and the ruling caste, all descendants of Odiq’e who embraced mayan culture and faith, proclaimed that this was the first year of the era of Cuculcan, the feathered serpent that was apropiated by Q'uk'umatz as his personal god. So from now on the dates would be named “year one of the Cuculcan Era” (CE) and the years before it, “before Cuculcan era” (BCE).

His chosen successor apparently was his oldest son, Yaamil, but he died the same year. The lands ruled by the descendants of Q'uk'umatz were now split between three warring Kindoms where every ruler claimed the totality of the lands that the Great Conqueror owned:

BXJ0HhW.jpg

The Ahauil of The Odiq’e at the east, ruled by the last surviving son of Q'uk'umatz, Kin. He claimed the rest of the Kingdoms because he was the son of the Great Conqueror and as ruler of Oq Yqayo he was the true heir to the Yujnegi legacy.

xOrLAgB.jpg

The Ahauil of the Ma’ya’b at the center, ruled by the grandson of Q'uk'umatz, Áakan the Unlucky. He claimed the rest of the Kingdoms because he was the ruler of Tikal, and as the capital of the lands owned by the Great Conqueror he was the heir to everything he had. Also he was the son of Yaamil, the recently deceased successor of Q'uk'umatz.

MFzusCC.jpg

And the Ahauil of Palenque, the former Ahauil of Coatzalcoalcos, ruled by the grandson of Q'uk'umatz, Muuk’naal. He claimed the rest of the Kingdoms because he was the son of Muuk’naal, the true heir of Q'uk'umatz, who died after being badly maimed in the battle of Calakmul in 47 BCE.

The first to make a move was Muuk’nal who mobilized to attack Áakan while he mas rallying his troops to invade the lands of Kin, the weakest of the three. The objective of the Ahau of Palenque was to kill the troops of Ma’ya’b before they reunited in Tikal.

Muuk’nal was married with one of the sisters of K’aam-iik II, the Ahau of Kaminaljuyu, and tried to create an alliance with that Kingdom, the success of it was one of the steps of his plan to conquer the Kingdoms of his relatives, as he didn’t had enough troops to take both of them.

Áakan the ruler of Tikal had no alliances, but he had control over the strongest army the entire Mayan world had ever known, he of course, as his grandfather did before him, summoned all his forces to Tikal.

Meanwhile Kin, the ruler of the lands of the Odiq’e and the weakest of the three was praying to the gods and ordered the ritual sacrifice of some of his prisoners to gain the favor of the gods, he relied heavily on his hopes that the two usurpers who wanted his throne would kill each other’s, or at least weaken themselves after they fought for supremacy.

As the successors of Q'uk'umatz were preparing themselves to fight in another war for supremacy, at the east of the Great Sea the old empires and kingdoms were living the first days of the new millennium...

Chapter 29: The Empires of the New Millenium 1-6 CE
Chapter 29: The Empires of the New Millenium 1-6 CE

Europe, 1 CE

wmQuIjA.jpg

The Etruscan Empire had conquered all the celtic lands and started to conquer the lands of the disorganized Germanic tribes, even with all their physical might, the northerners could no nothing to stop the waves of Etruscan legions marching into their homeland.

As the Etruscan armies were marching east, the Iberian peninsula still suffered the chaos that had existed since some centuries ago, and as the Iberians fought against the Celtics that flooded the peninsula, the greek colonists from Emporion were starting to have border skirmished with the ever expanding Etrurians.

In the cold islands of the north the Britons of Albion were trying to dominate the rest of the celtic tribes, without much opposition.

zBBrEP9.jpg

On the north of Africa the Empire of Carthage still dominated the region while the Turdetanii expanded into the former lands of the Kingdom of Mauretania, from time the time the Egyptians tried to expand into the dominion of Carthage without much success.

kpeR2tr.jpg

In the Hellenic region Epirus rose as the dominant power after conquering most of the lands of the Makedonians, even competing with the powerful Empire of Lydia who had expelled the Babylonians from their lands.

Meanwhile the Babylonians retained their borders more or less the same than a century ago.

_____________________________________________________

The West, 1 CE

Muuk’nal Q'uk'umatz defeated the superior forces of Ma’ya’ab in the battle of Machaquila, and there weren’t any armies that stopped him from taking Tikal. And he quickly did that.

rHEpLlu.jpg

Now the Kingdom of Palenque dominated the peninsula of Yucatan, and after some years of preparations, in 3 CE he marched with his combined armies to the lands of the Odiq’e, who were quick to capitulate. After some battles the easterners were conquered and now Muuk’nal was the winner and owner of all the lands that his grandfather conquered.

After changing his capital to Calakmul and proclaiming the first Mayan Empire in 6 CE, he looked west, to Kaminaljuyu the only dominion he had to conquer to be the absolute ruler of all the Mayan peoples.

WmcszxF.jpg

As he had enough enemies in his own realm he created a non-aggression pact with the independent mayans of the west via marriage, so he could rule in peace for some years. His priority now was to prevent any traitors taking down his empire, so he summoned all the important priests to his palace in Calakmul, the city were his dad was mutilated while fighting rebels….

As controller of all the holy sites of the Mayan faith he could enforce his divine right to rule just giving more power to the priests, and this led to the inevitable reformation of the mayan faith, placing himself and his successors as god-kings and protectors of the religion of the mayans.

zKXH17i.jpg

The priests were happy about this, as Muuk’nal elevated their position as spirituals leaders of the new Empire to a new, unexpected level, at the same time that prevented civil wars as the succession was secured and the best heir possible will take all the titles and honors associated with being the Emperor of the Mayans.

The new Millenium started with an Empire in the west and a reformed mayan faith.

Yopat Q'uk'umatz, 4° Emperor of the Mayans, 17° King of Ishfania in exile.
Ruled between 14-74 CE

Son of Muuk’nal the first Emperor of the Mayans, Son of Muuk'nal, Son of Q'uk'umatz the Great Conqueror, Son of Tzun, daughter of Malchus, son of Mattos, son of Dido, daughter of Zinnridi leader of the Exiles in the new world, son of Hanno, son of Hannibal, son of Dido who lost the Kingdom of Ishfania, daughter of Ayzebel, daughter of Yzebel, daughter of Similce, daughter of Sophonisba, daughter of Sophonisiba, daughter of Mago, founder of the Kingdom of Ishfania.

He was 9 years old when he inherited the throne from his deceased brother in 14 CE and the council ruled until he proved to be reliable enough, of course this time the nobles forbidden him to climb even the stairs because they feared that a third dead Ahau in a row would result in a civil war between the pretenders and the dissolution of the Empire.

In 25 CE he changed the capital of the Empire from Calakmul to Tikal, as he wanted to claim the glory of his great grandfather as his own, and because he never trusted the nobles of the former capital, considering that two of his brother and his father died in suspicious circumstances. He married a princess from Kaminaljuyu the same years and the celebrations lasted from weeks.

In 29 CE a major religious revolt erupted in the vicinity of Tikal, as some of the mayans didn’t accepted the reformation made by the ruling dynasty, Yopat assumed the role as commander of his troops, ensuring that they would see as a fit ruler.

7YS8iiv.jpg

Later, in 37 CE the brother in law of Yopat and new Ahau of Kaminaljuyu after the death of Yopat’s honorable father in law declared that pirates from the Empire were marauding on his coast, and after a harsh exchange of letters, they broke the pact between the two nations. The nobles of Tikal declared that there was only one way possible to answer to his insult.

War.

And of course Yopat agreed, he pressed the claim of one of his brothers in law and invaded Kaminaljuyu, annexing it to his Empire in 39 CE, after two years of war.

uAL9zYL.jpg

Now the Mayans were all under the rule of the descendants of Q'uk'umatz, it would take another ten years for his subjects to conquer the entire region for the Empire. The rule of Yopat after that was a peaceful one, and with the resources of the entire region he continued the construction of the Pyramid of his great grandfather Q'uk'umatz, started the construction of the Great Harbor of Coatzalcoalcos to prepare for the future return of his people to the Old World and was remembered as "Yopat the Sword of Kukulkan", founder of his own bloodline.

ShBIwa9.jpg

The good rule of Yopat ended in 74 CE, after he died because of severe stress. he was suceeded by his son Aj-Koo, who started the golden age of the Mayan Empire, a time of unprecedented peace that would last for generations.

Ruled from 218 to 250 CE

After the death of Muuk’naal IV, his son of the same name inherited the throne, a week later the announced third comet of Q'uk'umatz appeared in the skyes and at first the priests warned Muuk’naal V about the prophecy of Dido that said that when the third comet showed up, her descendants must return to the lands of their ancestors in the east were the Great Conqueror Q'uk'umatz traveled after his death.

But the Emperor ignored them because he didn’t believed on such nonsense, his people were the mayans… and most of the nobility descended by the Phoenician Exiles never believed in the fairy tales of the religious caste… the Mayan Empire was a shining beacon of civilization and prosperity and abandoning it seemed illogical.

Muuk’naal V reigned for many years after that incident, and ignored the reports from the priests about a drought that was devastating the heartland, he was busy enjoying the privileges of being the Emperor and made fun of the priests whenever he could, his people lived in tranquility and nothing could make them travel to the other side of the world for a crazy prophecy written by a distant ancestor of the Emperor.

But in 237 CE a great drought devastated the lands of the Empire and the agriculture of Yucatan was extremely dependent on rains, without them, the entire foundation of mayan society crumbled.

Without the power to provide for his people, Muuk’nal V Q'uk'umatz, the last Emperor of the Mayan Empire, was completely unable to prevent the Mayan city-states from fighting each other to control the scarce resources available, the war in turn produced a great crisis of refugees and migrants, who traveled from city to city looking for food and shelter. The Mayan Empire collapsed in 250 CE.

Old and powerless, the last scion of the legendary Q'uk'umatz ordered the construction a great fleet in the Harbor of Kukulkan, and using the knowledge of the navigators trained since the rule of Muuk’naal II they would return to the lands of their ancestors.

Yuumilká, his son and one of the best Mayan navigators, would lead the expedition. The first wave of ships sailed from Coatzalcoalcos while the entire mayan world was in turmoil... maybe the negligence of Muuk'naal V caused the fall of the Empire, but the actions of his son would save the legacy of his people.

In 272 CE, after some years of preparations Yuumilká settled what remained of his people in the Canarias Islands, the lands were the old Yujnegi fled when they were deposed from Ishfania by the Mago family 852 years ago.

woPl2aW.jpg

From these islands, he would retake the birthright of his family line.

But the world had changed too much in the 472 years that his people were away from this old continent, and maybe even with the large amounts of gold and manpower that his fleets brought from the fallen Mayan Empire recovering the lands of his ancestors will not be a simple task....

It can be done, but i would like to do a pre-conquest mesoamerican mod with a bigger map (and i would like to include the Inca to the south), what i did here was a pre-classic mayan mod with a tiny map.

I learned a lot about doing total conversions, but i dont know all the stuff about doing events and things like that.

Part 3 of Storm from the West: Sunset Invasion

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The descendants of the ishfani have returned to the old world but now they call themselves "mayans", a lot of time have passed and the world has changed,, there are less small nations and lots of Empires and Kingdoms, this is how the end of eu4 looked at 300 CE:

8uaM78I.jpg

I "adapted" that map to Ck2 at the year 250, so the game could have some time to "ck2-ize" the nations, some of them dissapeared, others, expanded. The Etruscans had a lot of civil wars but they survived somehow, i'll use these mods on this part:

- Ancient Religions: as this its a more pagan world i like how this mod represents them, but i limited them as they are too strong, how?, well...they cannot reform.

- Release Vassal as Tributary: This part will cover more than 1k years, and i dont like blobbing, if in some part i began to conquer too much land, i'll just release it as tributary so i can protect the new nation from these other blobs.

- My own mod, that’s mostly gfx, localization, eu4 converter and cultures.

My playstyle its mostly preventing blobs to become too big and limiting myself to conquer only some lands, in this case maybe i'll ending forming the Empire of Hispania. I will use console ONLY to avoid bordergore and big blobs at the end of the game, i like having some diversity on my games.

I will also simulate the rise of christianity (300-500) and islam (620+), i want to see how the HF mechanics deal with this pagan world, and CK2 without Islam its not CK2.

As i'm using the rule to prevent pagans to reform, the mayan faith will be of course, unreformed.

Introduction: The Spymaster

Haztzutz, the Spymaster and wife of the Ahau of the Mayan Expedition, entered the room were his beloved husband were reunited with the other members of the council, they were examining maps and scrolls with comprehensive information about the kingdoms and empires of the region, they were preparing the final details of the invasion to retake the lands of their ancestors, at the back of the room there was a big banner with the symbol of the fallen Mayan Empire, the banner of his husband, Muuk’naal, the rightful heir of Q'uk'umatz.

c5fUs96.png

Since she was a child, she knew the meaning of the banner, but now it looked even more majestic, she knew that the white represented the divine right to rule of the descendants of Q'uk'umatz, and that the purple phoenix on the middle represented the renaissance of their people, Phoenicians, Odiq'e, Mayans... of course the purple represented the nobility of the family she now belonged to, the old Yujnegi and now Q'uk'umatz, and she knew that the banner some day would be on top of the palace of their new Kingdom, in Cadiz.

She understood that her role on this history was important, she was not only the wife of the Ahau that will be the restorer of the Kingdom of Ishfania, she would also be the mother of the first successor of him. Anyways, she wanted to be far more than simply that.

All the council members were expecting her, because this was a special meeting were the Spymaster would inform the rest of the council about the current state of the old world, the Mayans had sent spies and merchants to every part of the Mediterranean and now they had all the intelligence to understand this new world.

So after ordering her servants to open the windows so more light could enter the room, she started the briefing:

- Our ancestors called it “Ishpania”, our old kings and queens named our land “Isfania”, it means “lands of the rabbits”, “lands of the north” or “the land where metals are forged” depending on who you believe, anyways, we are calling it “Ispania” as the Carthaginians still call these lands. The truth it’s that for the last millennia these lands have beenlocked in an eternal conflict between the Iberians, the Celts, the Phoenicians, and now the Etruscans.

ugIdKBe.jpg

Political, cultural and religious map of Ispania
Haztzutz made a pause, and then continued.

- The Iberians, the descendants of these who conquered our lands adopted the religious and cultural customs of the celts against they had fought for so many years are ruled by the powerful King Babpo of the Turdetanii, he has been trying to unite the Celtiberian peoples in a Confederation to fight the ever expanding Etruscans and Carthaginians without success. The Turdetanii have conquered vasts amount of territory, have a powerful army but a surprisingly mediocre fleet. - said the spymaster pointing the big map on the table and moving some wooden miniatures over it. - but we can defeat them if we hire enough mercenaries and divide their forces.

CYlh4qR.jpg

Chak’mool, the chancellor intervened.

- The Etruscans and the Phoenicians are the real threat in the long run, but we can exploit these differences between the Celtiberian peoples to our advantage, I have sent some diplomats but the Neri, the Iberians and the Lusitani don’t want any pacts with foreigners against the Turdetanii. But I don’t think they would help them in any way…

- Exactly – added the Spymaster- they are divided, even if they share faith and culture, they have a long history of fighting each other and if they haven’t united against the Etruscans and the Carthaginians, they surely wouldn’t do against us.

Muuk’naal smiled, and then talked:

- Well… its seems like the Turdetanii are alone against our might, this will be a good war. We will recover the lands of our ancestors, but please my dear Haztzutz, continue, we need to know about the Mauri, the Phoenicians and the Etruscans.

Haztzutz pointed at the map, the south of the Turdetanii.

- The Mauri Kingdoms are no more, as their Kingdoms collapsed under the invasions on their homelands by the Turdetanii and Carthaginians, after that each tribe went their own way… but we can hire some of the warriors of these tribes so they can aid us against their enemies. We can even try to create an alliance with them over time…

Suddenly the Spymaster became serious, then moved some wooden miniatures to the Carthaginian positions on the map.

- But our most dangerous rivals will be the Carthaginians. According to our sources they have a fleet that rival ours and have plenty of resources after years of dominating trade on the Mediterranean, they are even more powerful as they recently conquered the lands of the Kingdom of Sicily…. For now, they seem unstoppable but my sources claim that they are prone to civil wars and that their empire expands all over the Mediterranean, that means that they have plenty of enemies, Etruscans, Greeks, Egyptians, Babylonians, we can use that to our advantage…

9eaTRAI.jpg

- Well. While that’s true, I have been informed that none of these peoples would make an alliance with us in the short term , religion is the key to create alliances in this world… and we don’t share any similarity with these probable enemies of the Carthaginians- said the Ahau with a serious tone- They have even ignored our attempts to create trade agreements, they see us as strange barbarians who have reached these islands and that we lack relevance for any kind of bilateral diplomatic relation ... so we will depend on luck for now, please, Haztzutz, tell us about the Etruscans.

The Spymaster fixed her hair and then moved some wooden miniatures to the center of Europe.

- Well… they are the most powerful Empire of this world and their dominion expands from the eastern mountainous regions of Ispania to the far and mysterious lands of the Finns. Their current Emperor is called Adalbert and on his first year he had intentions to expand into the lands of the Turdetanii but he is currently dealing with yet another civil war…

brCN43O.jpg

- But I have been informed that the Etruscans have been fighting civil wars for the last 50 years, what its the importance of the current one? – said the Ahau looking at the figurines on the map and then continued- we cannot intervene as we cannot sacrifice our people for nothing, I know that some of you wants that…

Haztzutz smiled and then, after looking for even more wooden miniatures on her bag and putting them on the table continued:

- But the importance of this civil war, it’s that their western subjects, the Basques and the Gauls are fighting for their independence, if they succeed we can have an interesting turn of events, as that would forever weaken the Etruscans in our area of interest, and even if we would have to conquer the Basques and expel the Gauls from Ispania… they are far from being as powerful as their current overlords.

SSir5dP.jpg

T87cZHW.jpg

On the 50 years of "observation mode" the Gauls got a bloodline.*

Lu’um, the Marshall, intervened:

- We lack the resources to deal with the Etruscans, we need to focus on the Turdetanii and not deviate from our plan … if the rebels succeed, that’s good enough for me, but if they lose, we can still have our lands after taking them from the Celtiberians. The less resources we waste the better.

- Lu’um is right, we cannot afford with now to fight a foreign war, but please Spymaster, continue. - said Muuk’naal making a gesture so his beloved wife could abandon her idea of intervening in the Etruscan civil war and continued her briefing.

Haztzutz made a pause after looking to his husband and then pointed to the east of the map.

- Well, to the east there are powerful empires that we can ignore for now, but we still have important information about them. The Egyptians are even more powerful than the Carthaginians but they are focusing right now on the dry lands right at the south of their Empire, they worship a god-emperor who still uses the title of “Pharaoh” like the rulers of the old times and rely heavily on the Nile river, as the rest of their lands are desert.

VRVRG3d.jpg

She moved some miniatures on the map and gave the order for her servants to deliver some scrolls to the rest of the council, it was important that everyone knew the amount of troops that each Empire had and what were their characteristics, so she had bothered herself making a summary with the statistics of each one of them. After her servants finished the task, she continued:

-To the east of the Egyptians are the Babylonians, they have a great diversity of peoples and faiths under their rule but also have enjoyed a lot of stability compared to the Etruscans, they have kept the Egyptians at bay for a long time, but who knows what can happen in the future. We have heard a lot of stories about their evil Emperor, but we don’t know if they are true at all or just propaganda, the assyrians are known for their evil ways…

iAQ3zCL.jpg

She made a short pause while looking through the window, the sun began to set and the room became darker and darker, so she ordered her servants to light the candles and close the windows, so she could continue her exposition:

- And last, but not least important are the Hellenes, the Kingdom of Sicily fell to the Carthaginians some years ago, and the Makedonian Empire imploded after a series of civil wars, but the Lydian Empire is stronger than ever, while the Kingdom of Epirus started to decline and the Kingdom of Hellas remains stable. According to our sources, after centuries of dominance most Hellenic powers have fallen after civil wars, only to be absorbed by unknown barbarians, we can surely say that we got back into this part of the world only to see the decline of the Hellenes…

CPd2mWZ.jpg

The council still looked at her, as if waiting for her to continue speaking, but she was tired, so she asked them to read the scrolls that her servants had given them a while ago, she sat at her seat and looked at her husband on the other side of table. She needed to convince him to help the rebels against the Etruscans, she was sure that it was the only way to weaken that mighty Empire, but she understood her husband's reasons for not making that decision, resources were scarce and of course they could not just waste them ... but ...

Suddenly the Ahau spoke.

- Well, this was a productive meeting, tomorrow we will be informed about the religions of these lands and how we can use them against our enemies, so, good night my brothers…

Haztzutz smiled, she now had more time to plan her strategy, while the other members of the council left the room, she kept thinking, while gently stroking the fish-like amulet she had hanging around her neck ...

That was strange, but i believe that the Etruscans took the role of the romans and then went crazy, most of the lands they own at the east are the product of colonization, in most other runs the Romans went east and south like in irl history and only in the game i did for the aar they were conquered by the Velathri.

If you look closely at the Babylonian pic, you can see the Huns... how they will influence the migration period this time? Well....
