AI Parameters

Nighty,

What are the different parameters used by the AI? The HOI AI is pretty brain dead, even for a game AI.

Is it possible to "force" garrisons of various provinces? As an example, in my current game the English didn't bother to garrison their English Channel ports? The Soviets didn't garrison Sevastopol or Riga?

It seems cheesy to invade Russia by dropping a Paratrooper (or naval invasion) into an undefended Riga, flooding tanks in through Riga, and then driving AFAP toward and undefended Leningrad and south, cutting all the Soviets off?

Is it possible to force garrisons of all port provinces within some distance of an enemy/player port?

The most interesting parts of the game were the Soviets capturing Finland (even with me pumping up the Finish techs), and the Italian DOW against the Germans; Italy didn't last very long...

Different question; I captured 6 British BB and 2 CV in the Med; their Org is way higher than my maximum naval Org. When I researched a naval tech their Org went UP, even though the tech is already included in their maximum Org?

Also, they suck in combat, way worse than they should be based on their values and Org? Worse than the German Basic Cruisers. Is there a big penalty for using units you can't build?

this sounds like a bug of HOI

yes, is possible. drop me the province numbers you suggest with province names.

it is alwys cheesy to drop paras anwhere and then send in reinforcements..

manually by programming AI , yes, also drop recommented ports here.

Thanks!

Manually garrisonned areas

The Soviets need to manually garrison the following areas; these are areas where it is easy to launch invasions into, or "semi-historical" paradrops (i.e. ones that might have made sense).

Leningrad
Riga
Tallinin
Helsinki (if they own Finland)
Turku (if they own Finland)
Murmansk
Odessa
Sevastopal
Batumi

They should NOT garrison Rovaniemi (on the Finish-Swedish border) if they own Finland; since the infrastructure is too low there to support troops? i.e. the garrison will just eventually die?

The British need to garrison the following:

Portsmouth
Southhampton
Valetta (why don't they call it Malta?)
Gibralter

In the current game, the British have not garrisononed any of thses, and I could just drop Paras (or invade) into them?

I try to only use Paras in semi-historical situations (like Norway); or to grab empty areas when they are too far away, and I don't want to have to walk for a month across empty space (like the two victory places in Eastern Turkey). But it is annoying when the AI doesn't bother to defend things!

How do I find or the number of a provence?

A couple possible bugs / undocumented features :D from a recent World Tumbling game as the USA. This is from the Bolted Mod events:

1940-02-04 : 2:00 March 5, 1940 : Yugoslavia entered a Military Alliance with Germany, Czechoslovakia, Italy, Bulgaria, Hungary and Argentina.

1940-02-04 : 2:00 March 5, 1940 : Siam have been hardly influenced by New Zealand.

1940-02-04 : 2:00 March 5, 1940 : United Kingdom went with Coup d'etat! in Yugoslavian Popular Dismay with German alliance!.

1940-02-04 : 2:00 March 5, 1940 : Yugoslavia went with Coup d'etat! in Yugoslavian Popular Dismay with German alliance!.

1940-02-04 : 2:00 March 5, 1940 : Germany had The Yugoslavs have opposed the will of the Fuhrer! .

Despite the coup, Yugoslavia never left the Axis alliance! Even wackier is the triggers for the event (#9600):

trigger = {
random = 25
exists = GRE
exists = YUG
war = { country = ITA country = GRE }
war = { country = GER country = ENG }
alliance = { country = ITA country = GER }
alliance = { country = HUN country = GER }
NOT = {
war = { country = GER country = YUG }
war = { country = SOV country = GER }
alliance = { country = YUG country = GER }
}
}

Doesn't make any sense. Especially if YUG allying with GER is a NOT condition.

One other wacky event of note:

1940-08-04 : 0:00 September 5, 1940 : Hungary went with Press the issue in The Vienna Diktat - Claim Transylvania with German blessing.

1940-08-04 : 0:00 September 5, 1940 : Germany went with Force Romanian acceptance in The Vienna Diktat.

1940-08-04 : 0:00 September 5, 1940 : Romania went with Refuse in The Vienna Diktat.

1940-08-04 : 0:00 September 5, 1940 : Romania declared war upon Hungary, Germany, Czechoslovakia, Italy, Bulgaria, Argentina, Yugoslavia and Greece.

1940-08-04 : 2:00 September 5, 1940 : France, United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, South Africa, Belgium and Netherlands declared war upon Romania.

Who needs enemies when you have friends like the Allies? ;) I checked the Vienna Diktat event, there's no Allied event for the Diktat. How'd this happen?
