As others said, the OP issue is WAD, but I find it irritating. I think it might be better if the cultural buildings only were destriyed if culture of the given province changes. The ruler´s (king or whatever) culture should not be relevant for this, IMHO.

Given that all the cultural buildings cost the same, wouldn't converting them to the rulers culture buildings not make sense? So when a Spaniard gets the throne, the squire building becomes a caballero building, etc.

I have to say too if its so easy to jsut change it to the province culture then do it Paradox, makes much more sense anyway than the rulers culture, i mena the troops dont give much about who rules them and uses them and keep their special way of foighting, i mean if a Japanese guy would take over the Vikings i doubt they would swithc to steakth Ninja warfare or something, rhey could over time but that is also greatly represented ingame then when province culture changes. If its just a little change like it was mentioned and with it does everthing better than just do it Paradox. ;-)

It would be better if cultural buildings were dependent on the culture of the province.

I think that the building should be atached to liege culture and county culture and stay over time, but an event should be writen so, if county culture changes for example, the level of the old building will get down till the point were it dissapear. This way you represent the loss of tradition over time.

Yeah, that would also be a decent idea. There are about a dozen good ideas or possibilities to do this, while the way paradox chose is like the worst possible. :D

Awesome, thanks very much TrueMalice. Though at the risk of sounding like an ingrate, would it be possible to get a version that relied on province OR ruler culture? I *think* OR ( vanilla requirement code, your mod's code) would give the result that old buildings of province culture wouldn't get torn down when a new cultured ruler took over, but the new culture chain would start at the first level. For example, a Will the Conqueror game would leave the Saxon heavy infantry tradition intact at first with a lot of investment needed to build up a new Norman cavalry tradition. Eventually, as the provinces converted culture, the Saxon infantry would die out and be replaced with knights. Or the conqueror could go native, not build the stables, and adopt heavy infantry while tutoring his heir to switch culture.
