I don't know if it has already been addressed but...
I think that it would be great to have more information about the impact that a particular tile has on units in terms of defence bonus or malus.
In fantasy wars, when hovering with the mouse on tiles, and having a unit selected, a small box that shows these information appears (for example "+4 defence" or "-8 defence").
Perhaps, you can even bring back the same passability system. It was so clear to have movement penalties expressed in percentage instead of a generic "passability: poor".
