Well if it makes you feel better I've been converted to a Vicky fan. I will be preordering.

Hey all,
I really like that people are excited that Vic2 is in development. This feels like an interesting and exciting project for all of us, however it is no secret I voted for another project from the Paradox dev team.
Johan assured me our fans want this project, and so did you (forum people) in a poll on this forum.
So in brief; I think this project never will see profit (reason is simple Vic1 was a terrible launch). Johan thinks it will. Johan and his team have the responsibility to create a good game and of course we hope that you will buy it since this was the most voted-for title in our poll.
So, what do I bring to the table except for whining? I have promised the dev team (and checked with my family) that I am shaving my head if this project ever sees profit. AND post pictures of it here in the forum.
We will have a budget meeting in the coming two weeks to see how many units we need to sell to reach our break-even; and keep you posted. Progress reports will follow.
And yes, I am serious.
Cheers,
Fred
:rofl::rofl::rofl: thats actually really wittyYou guys know what this is about right? This is a suicide mission: the CEO, suspicious of the ever growing influence of his right hand man and scared of the cult growing around his personality, decides to lure him to lead a project designed to fail from the start. It's already still born, I'm telling you! There will be obstacles, moles within the project working to undermine and sabotage, funding and staff cuts that would be blamed on the recession, etc. Even if the product makes it to the market, it will not be marketed appropriately only to watch the King fall and force him to take the blame in public.
Where's the best place to crucify the fallen cult leader? In his own lair of course, which is this forum! That's why we see a public notification on who's shoulders the responsiblity falls if the game fails to profit.
If I were in Johan's shoes, I would hire myself to mobilize the cult to help channel all their untapped energy and resources to this project, overcoming the underfunding and understaffing issues and avoiding being singled out at the end if it comes down to that despite the efforts. I'm even making myself available for hire for a nominal fee of $1 per year, but I won't relocate.![]()
Yeah, it would be great if the new EU3 expansion would add a proper converter for Vicky2, so that you can continue all the way to HOI3. And of course add to that the hopefully coming CK2 with converter to EU3 and it would be a dream come true.Long shot, yes, but as a long term Paradox adict, if there was any way to get EUIII to export to Vic2 Johan would have a sure thing. The possibility of play from EUIII all the way through HOI3 would make many an adicts dream come true.
The problem is, EU3 is such a long game, that even the most infantile players can put themselves at a huge advantage by the end of it. It would be cool to see a mechanism where the most powerful country becomes targeted by whatever smaller powers are left though.
So, as a Mac user, I'm going to have to ask Johan and the rest of the dev team to light a fire under the guys at VPLTD to make sure that they get the game out as soon as possible to us apple fans.
How do the profits compare for mac sales? Less per unit, I'm guessing, since you go through a third party to reach the customer.
That's because BB wars:We already tried that in both EU1, EU2 and EU3. It's called BB war. If you know what you do, it's the best way to do a WC. And, in my opinion, it's tiresome, shitty and unfun.o
(yes Ubik, I've been reading to godam manual)
Despite being ripped off with East India Company I'll be buying Victoria 2 regardless. The lesson I learned from East India Company was don't buy a game because it looks good and it came from Paradox...
Correct.I haven't played EIC, but AFAIK, it's not developed by Paradox, but rather only published by the company.
Correct.
