Before the current patch; there existed what was I called the 'Horde Roadblock' for institutions.
What this was, was a central-asian bubble of rather low-development provinces; that start the game without Feudalism. While Timurids could lessen the bubble significantly, that was reliant on them not collapsing quickly and spending all their money fighting rebels.
Now; in 1444; there is an unbroken line of Feudalism from Europe to China; via Anatolia and Persia. It is no longer reliant on Timurids embraceing Feudalism before they explode.
This should noticeably accelerate the spread of Renaissance to Asia and India; as before; Renaissance could not spread through the 'bubble' as Renaissance cannot spread without Feudalism embraced.
The generally higher development in the middle-east might speed things up as well; although the province count might likewise slow it.
I would not be surprised to see China ect getting Renaissance a good 5~10 years earlier now.
