A small bonus for controlling wasteland?

Since the game apparently checks if you control wasteland areas, allowing the graphics to fill it in with your color if you do, I'm wondering if it would be possible for you to get a small bonus for controling them?

Obviously, they're wastelands for a reason, but they're not completely uninhabited or useless. A jungle wasteland might give you 1 manpower due to native villages, an arctic wasteland might give 1 trade due to natural resources, a desert wasteland might give 1 income due to trade outposts, just as some examples.

Thoughts on the idea/feasibility?

Only thing i could imagine is a prestige boost.

I base this out of simply looking at maps,sure in the 19th century people knew all that Russian land in Siberia was a frozen wasteland,but it does look damn impressive on maps.

I think it is not worth it. Let wasteland be wasteland with no use... after all... it is wasteland

Historically, I don't think any nation really got anything from wastelands. Jungles were not mapped or even searched, there were no technology to get anything valuable from arctic areas and deserts were being avoided, as there were quicker and safer trade routes

Still,there was a reason the British were so paranoid about Russia invading India even if it wasnt possible logistically,big painted spaces can have an effect on peoples opinion of nations.

A small Prestige boost would be a reasonable reward for the effort needed to paint it all.

It was possible, through Afghanistan and Persia, which is why Britain played the "Great game" keeping Afghanistan as a buffer state and working to ensure Persia stayed neutral.

Yea nope. Any graphical colouring of, or bonuses to wasteland would make it useless as a unique game component.
