This thread is not about changing something that's already in game(who might have guessed), but rather a suggestion about the mechanics that can be taken into consideration during the Utopia(tm) development.
Nope, I'm not going to propose some crazy formula like log(star surface in square km)*star type^FE mood today, or something like that. As the title suggests, here's a (surprisingly overlooked) idea how to make Dyson Spheres viable for everyone, everywhere. Firstly, the amount of energy created by this structure should be boosted by star's default energy output with some diminishing returns. A sphere on a 1 energy star would give 50 extra energy, 2 - 90 extra energy, 3 - 120, 4 - 140. That is not really overpowered, given the numbers we meddle with late game and also insures that you have some priorities for building these structures, while also not forcing the player to build them ONLY around high energy stars. There can be some moral dillemas like 200 energy or 320 energy and making some primitives freeze to death. The second and most important idea is to make repetitive research apply to dyson spheres. It's not a major buff, but it changes one thing: Dyson Spheres can no longer become obsolete in time.
So, what do you think?
